Oui, oui, we're having a French movie Saturday today! Opening in French cinemas this December is epic romance LA PROMESSE DE L'AUBE with Pierre Niney playing famous novelist Romain Gary and Charlotte Gainsbourg also starring.
From his childhood in Poland to his adolescence in Nice to his years
as a student in Paris and his tough training as a pilot during World War
II, this tragicomedy tells the romantic story of Romain Gary, one of
the most famous French novelists and sole writer to have won the
Goncourt Prize for French literature two times.

Also opening on the very same day as the above mentioned saga on Romain Gary, December 6th over in France, is movingly epic First World War drama THE GUARDIANS (Les Gardiennes) which follows the touching story of women that were left behind to work a family farm during the Great War while their men were dying for their country. While their men were guarding the country, the women were left to be the guardians of their homes and farms.
