CHRIS PINE TO PLAY ROBERT THE BRUCE IN 'OUTLAW KING' SCOTTISH EPIC! GLEN COOK'S 'THE BLACK COMPANY' SAGA TO BECOME EPIC FANTASY TV SERIES! 'THE EXCEPTION' TRAILER WITH JAI COURTNEY, CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER

CHRIS PINE IS 'OUTLAW KING'
ROBERT THE BRUCE EPIC

Now here's something wonderfully epic for you today: as 'Deadline' writes, a new Robert the Bruce epic movie is planned in Hollywood and Chris Pine is to wear the Scottish kilt! Netflix is to shoot OUTLAW KING epic period drama that will tell a different version than Braveheart did on Robert The Bruce, the king who led his country to freedom from the oppressive rule of England in Scotland. Ben Foster (who proved to be a very bad choice for epic roles with his under whelming performance in Warcraft) is apparently in talks to play James Douglas, the Scottish knight who became the king’s chief adviser. Beside depicting his efforts to gather the forces against Edward II, the movie will have a love story as well between him and his queen Elizabeth de Burgh who gave him strength to push out the English army.

'THE BLACK COMPANY
EPIC FANTASY TV SERIES
If you wondered what is David Goyer up to after Da Vinci's Demons, he is to executive produce a TV series out of epic fantasy novel saga THE BLACK COMPANY from Glen Cook with Eliza Dushku expected to play the dark sorceress The Lady, as 'Deadline' reports.
The ten book saga follows THE BLACK COMPANY, an elite mercenary unit that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a Tolkienesque landscape. When these hard bitten men discover the prophecy that the embodiment of good has been reborn, they must re-examine their loyalties. The Lady, who rules over the Northern Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power structure rife with usurpers.

'THE EXCEPTION' TRAILER
STARRING JAI COURTNEY AND CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER
Meanwhile, the first trailer has finally been released for historical drama THE EXCEPTION starring Christopher Plummer and our most beloved Jai Courtney and scheduled for theatrical release this June! It sees Jai playing  a German soldier who tries to determine if the Dutch resistance has planted a spy to infiltrate the home of Kaiser Wilhelm in Holland during the onset of World War II, but falls for a young Jewish Dutch woman during his investigation. Ben Daniels and Janet McTeer also star in the period set thriller action historical drama!

  2. Is the "Outlaw King" the Robert the Bruce project for which Our Tom was originally tapped to play the lead role? Or is that another, separate project?

    2. You know, I'm just not a big Pine fan in general but maybe he'll change my mind when I see him on the show. We'll see. Right now, I just see child. But I shall go in with an open mind.

    3. I did not like his Kirk in Star Trek, he portrayed it as some kind of reckless jock. But I haven't watched the original series so maybe Kirk really is like that?

    4. I enjoy the real Star Trek. Didn't think of Kirk as a reckless jock and would be annoyed at Pine if I had to sit through that.

    5. he really gets on Spock's nerves in it, and that says a lot knowing Vulcan nerves

  8. I will try to see all three of these. I will definitely see Outlaw King. Robert the Bruce, Edward II, and Elizabeth de Burgh are in my family tree. As with Braveheart, it's hard to pick a side to root for when both sides are family. Well, actually I'll be rooting for Scottish...

    2. HA! I'm far from royalty, but they are all in my family tree. Pretty weird, right?

  9. Robert the Bruce is the father-in-law of the great-grandfather of the husband of the wife of my 18th great-uncle.

Edward II is the father-in-law of my 21st great-grandfather.

Elizabeth De Burgh is the wife of 2nd great-grandfather of husband of wife of my 18th great-uncle.

Or something like that! It's confusing. And it doesn't really mean anything at all...
