HBO has released today a trailer and poster for their May 20th television movie THE WIZARD OF LIES in which Robert De Niro plays ruthless Bernie Madoff who came up with the infamous Ponzi scheme that broke the world's economy. In 2008, stockbroker, investment advisor and financier Bernie Madoff made headlines around the world when he was arrested for perpetrating perhaps the largest financial fraud in U.S. history. Michelle Pfeiffer plays his wife Ruth, looking older than ever in the role, while Alessandro Nivola plays one of their sons. Hank Azaria is also a part of the TV movie cast. Barry Levinson was behind the helm.

There's also a trailer and poster for August 2017 movie OVERDRIVE which follows two car thieves, brothers, Andrew and Garrett Foster (Scott Eastwood and Freddie Thorp) who specialize only in the most expensive cars. They've been hired to steal a gorgeous Bugatti 1937 valued million Euro, so they head to the south of France for the job. But they get caught, and Jacomo Morier (Simon Abkarian), the local crime boss who owns the Bugatti, doesn't take it lightly. In exchange for their lives the two brothers will have to steal a car from Max Klemp (Fabian Wolfrom), Morier's arch-rival, and not any car, Morier wants them to steal Klemp's 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, his most prized car.

THE ALIENIST, based on the best selling Caleb Carr novel, is psychological thriller drama set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty) calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl), a criminal psychologist,  aka alienist, and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters. Falk Hentschel will play Biff Ellison, an extremely corrupt mobster who runs illegal brothels and bars in the city. Emanuela Postacchini will play Flora, a beautiful young prostitute at the Frenchtown brothel who indulges in some twisted role playing and is a favourite of newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans).

The 1st photo has also been revealed of Helen Mirren as rich heiress Sarah WINCHESTER a woman who was convinced that she was being haunted by the ghosts of people who were killed by the famous rifle that her family manufactured. After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, she threw herself into never-ending construction on her 160 room mansion, which features stairways to nowhere and doors that open onto walls, to appease the spirits.

BBC has revealed the photo of Oliver Jackson Cohen in their two part series MAN IN AN ORANGE SHIRT  in which he plays British Captain Michael Berryman who during WW2 meets war artist Thomas March (James McArdle) in Southern Italy while chaos reigns all around them. Despite having a young fiancé, Flora (Joanna Vanderham), waiting at home for him, straight-laced Michael finds himself falling for Thomas. Marc Forster will direct the new movie in which Christopher is now a grown up businessman with his own family! But, as Hollywood Reporter writes, he has lost his sense of imagination, since he is now solely focused on his work and being successful! Winnie the Pooh apparently appears in his life again just when he is close to losing his wife and daughter because he's too focused on his work! Disney has also announced Frozen 2 for winter 2019 with Lion King live action earlier that summer!

'NARNIA: SILVER CHAIR'

Talking about fairy tales, 'Variety' reports today that Captain America director Joe Johnston has been brought to helm the new instalment in fantasy saga NARNIA: THE SILVER CHAIR! It will be a revival of C.S. Lewis fantasy series Chronicles of Narnia on the big screens. While previous installments followed the Pevensie children, the fourth movie in the saga centres on their cousin Eustace Scrubb, who travels to Narnia to save the kidnapped child of Prince Caspian. Johnston also directed Jumanji and one of the Jurassic Park movies.

Saloka, a psychopath, sexual predator and serial rapist, develops an overwhelming hatred that results in callous brutality and murder.

Talking about cast additions, two comedy veterans Elliott Gould and Linda Lavin will play the parents of  Mark Feuerstein and David Walton's characters in CBS new multi camera sitcom 9J, 9K AND 9L! The story is inspired by Feuerstein’s real life experience of living in apartment 9K in the building he grew up in, right between his parents’ apartment, 9J, and his brother, sister in law and their baby’s apartment, 9L, and his attempts to set boundaries with his intrusive but well meaning family. They will be Judy and Harry, parents of Josh (Mark Feuerstein) and Andrew (David Walton). Lavin’s Judy is stylish, social and obsessed with her sons. Her best day would be spent just staring at and smelling Josh. Harry knows no boundaries. A pillar of the community, he’s warm and loving and lives life to the fullest.

Now here's something wonderfully epic for you today: as 'Deadline' writes, a new Robert the Bruce epic movie is planned in Hollywood and Chris Pine is to wear the Scottish kilt! Netflix is to shoot OUTLAW KING epic period drama that will tell a different version than Braveheart did on Robert The Bruce, the king who led his country to freedom from the oppressive rule of England in Scotland. Ben Foster (who proved to be a very bad choice for epic roles with his under whelming performance in Warcraft) is apparently in talks to play James Douglas, the Scottish knight who became the king’s chief adviser. Beside depicting his efforts to gather the forces against Edward II, the movie will have a love story as well between him and his queen Elizabeth de Burgh who gave him strength to push out the English army.

'THE BLACK COMPANY'

If you wondered what is David Goyer up to after Da Vinci's Demons, he is to executive produce a TV series out of epic fantasy novel saga THE BLACK COMPANY from Glen Cook with Eliza Dushku expected to play the dark sorceress The Lady, as 'Deadline' reports.

The ten book saga follows THE BLACK COMPANY, an elite mercenary unit that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a Tolkienesque landscape. When these hard bitten men discover the prophecy that the embodiment of good has been reborn, they must re-examine their loyalties. The Lady, who rules over the Northern Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power structure rife with usurpers.

PRINCESS AGENTS epic action romance story revolves around an agent who is killed in action but gets transported into the body of a slave girl during the Xia Dynasty. During the Warring Period, the Western Wei enslaved large numbers of civilians. The slave girl, Chu Qiao ( Zhao Li Ying), was thrown into the forest as a hunting target for rich lords. Through many trials and circumstances, she caught the attention of Zhuge Yue (Lin Geng Xin). Together, they tear down the slavery system.

Here's something that is coming up as soon as next week: National Geographic will start airing their new scripted series GENIUS Tuesday April 25th around the world! The series will see acting legend Geoffrey Rush playing famous scientist Albert Einstein and since it is imagined as anthology series the second season has already been ordered and it is expected that the new GENIUS they will be dealing with in the second season, some of other great minds of the world, will be announced during the finale of the first season  this summer June 20th.

Samantha Cooley plays Serbian scientist Mileva Maric who became Einstein's first wife and mother of his three children and is believed to have been the creator of a lot of his theories.

According to latest rumours from Hollywood, impossibly talented and divinely gorgeous Nicole Scherzinger is currently the leading choice for the role of the green witch Elphaba in the Stephen Daldry helmed Winter 2019 movie adaptation of WICKED! She already gave legendary performances in Cats and Phantom of the Opera, and gave voice to Moana's mother last year. As you know Jude Law and Johnny Depp have already joined the cast, Jude as young professor Dumbledore and Depp as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. David Yates is directing again and as it was previously announced that each of the potential five movies in the franchise will be set in another city, this one will have the story revolving in Paris which means we can expect magical beasts and monsters of French charms. The movie is set for November 2018!

And the third stunner for today comes in the lovely blond form of Margot Robbie who has just been given the task of ruling England in historical movie MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS as the Virgin Queen Elizabeth! That is what 'Hollywood Reporter' writes today!

A few years ago I already informed you that the titular role of the unfortunate and tragic Scottish queen will go to Saoirse Ronan. Her efforts to try to throw down her aggressive cousin Elizabeth from the English throne and the ensuing battle between the two of them will be the main focus of the upcoming period set drama. Although Elizabeth eventually imprisons and beheads Mary, her son James I later gets the throne his mother coveted so much and becomes the king of England, Scotland and Ireland, after Elizabeth fails to give birth to her own heir. The movie has a female director Josie Rourke!

The ten episode series, starring Laurie Davidson as young William Shakespeare, will start airing July 10! Shekhar Kapur directs with the cast also including Olivia DeJonge, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, Mattias Inwood, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett!

WILL tells the wild story of young William Shakespeare's arrival onto the punk rock theatre scene in 16th century London, the seductive, violent world where his raw talent faced rioting audiences, religious fanatics and raucous side shows. It's a contemporary version of Shakespeare's life, played to a modern soundtrack that exposes all his recklessness, lustful temptations and brilliance.

There is also a new trailer released for period set thriller drama THE BEGUILED which competes this year at Cannes Film Festival directed by Sofia Coppola. Starring Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning, it is set during the Civil War at a Southern girls’ boarding school. After an injured Union soldier (Colin Farrell) is taken in by the sheltered women, they tend to his wounds. While he is conning his way into each of the lonely women’s hearts, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, causing them to turn on each other, and eventually on him. Check out the extremely spooky new trailer for it below before it opens up in cinemas around the world at the end of June this summer.

He now is living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank. Sf and fantasy adaptations today, people, beginning with Michael Crichton's MICRO which is supposed to be directed by Joachim Ronning. Crichton's last written novel, finished by Richard Preston after his death, is a high concept thriller that follows a group of graduate students lured to Hawaii to work for a mysterious biotech company only to find themselves miniaturized and cast out into the rainforest, with nothing but their scientific expertise and wits to protect them. Ronning, who finished the latest instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean is also set to helm Tom Cruise in Methuselah epic movie.

While some parts of the world are still enjoying the latest Tom Hiddleston lead big screen adaptation of KING KONG SKULL ISLAND, a television series with the same title is also in the works but with a female lead! Since it is still Easter Monday and Hollywood is sleeping or stuffing itself with its chocolate eggs, we're moving over to good old imperial China with a quick spotlight on two of the upcoming Asian action packed historical projects. First one, the much anticipated GOD OF WAR which should storm into Chinese theatres at the very end of May this year starring Hung Sammo, Zhao Vincent, Wan Quian and Kurata Yasuaki.

THE 16TH CENTURY PIRATES
The story is set during the 16th century, when Japanese pirates proliferated along the Chinese coastline. In 1557, the pirates take over Cengang in Zhejiang. After months of futile advances, Commander Yu finally defeats them under the leadership of newly promoted General Qi. The Pirates, however, manage to escape.

 'BROTHERHOOD OF BLADES 2'

There is also the first teaser trailer, visually quite stunning, for new Chinese epic adventure BROTHERHOOD OF BLADES 2, which is actually a prequel of the prize winning 2014 Chinese blockbuster set in the age of the Ming dynasty. To open in cinemas this August it will star Chang Chen, Yang Mi and Zhang Yi. During an investigation, Shen Lian becomes the victim of a conspiracy after he is setup to take the fall as the suspect. In order to prove his innocence, he joins hands with a female painter and his allies.
