We're again all sf today, starting with the news coming from 'Deadline' that one of our most anticipated of the upcoming TV series Amazon's and Richard Madden's STRANGE NEW THINGS has just cast Haley Joel Osment in one of the roles!

STRANGE NEW THINGS is based on Michel Faber's book set in the near future, when Earth is becoming unsustainable. Richard Madden stars as Peter, a priest who is sent into space to help found a new colony, but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but life as we know it. Osment will play Sy, a man who used to grow large quantities of marijuana before being recruited to work on the new colony as chief botanist.

Now here's a new role for Girl on the Train and White Queen star Rebecca Ferguson: as 'Deadline' reports she will lead Justin Chadwick directed THE LADY AND THE PANDA movie!

The film is based on Ruth Harkness’ original detailed correspondence. When, as the 1930s New York socialite, she lost her wealthy husband unexpectedly, she took over his expedition to China. Ignoring the dictates of society, she joined forces with an unproven but dashing Chinese guide with whom she travelled down the Yangtze and deep into the uncharted Himalayas where they rescued an orphaned baby panda. When Ruth took it back to the U.S., she created a nationwide sensation but before long realized the animals are best preserved in their natural habitat.

NEW 'SAMSON AND DELILAH'
He almost won an Oscar for his movie on Genghis Khan, but now, Russian film maker Sergei Bodrov is returning to the epic genre with SAMSON AND DELILAH! He will direct the epic adventure movie adaptation of Ze’ev Jabotinsky's bestseller! The cast is currently being assembled for a movie which should start shooting next summer in Africa. Bodrov, who has other epic movie experiences since he also helmed Ben Barnes and Kit Harington in Seventh Son epic fantasy a few years ago, will shoot a movie on Samson, a fierce warrior, a wise judge, and a brave defender of his people. As 'Deadline' reports, Jabotinsky’s book brings a unique interpretation of the Biblical story which empowers Samson with supernatural strength, yet at the same time never losing sight of the character’s human qualities.

There definitely is a resemblance: as news come from  Pathé production company, young Brit Jack O'Connell is set to take the lead role in their untitled biopic of scandalous fashion designer ALEXANDER MCQUEEN! Based on late designer's biography Blood Beneath the Skin by Andrew Wilson the movie will be directed by Andrew Haigh! Back in year 2009 McQueen organized one of his greatest shows which featured a reworking of his greatest designs from the past 15 years! It was dedicated to his mother whose death triggered his depression and suicide. The film explores McQueen’s creative process in the months leading up to the show providing an intimate portrait of the man behind the global brand – a moving celebration of a visionary genius whose designs transcended fashion to become art.

Set in 1942, it sees Brad Pitt playing an intelligence officer in North Africa who encounters a female French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines played by Cotillard. When they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war. I must admit that poster looks cheap as hell and beyond.

Another touching drama that has just got a new poster is the adaptation of Larry Buttrose novel LION in which Dev Patel plays a grown up version of a five year old Indian boy who gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family. Nicole Kidman plays his adoptive mother with David Wenham as the father. The movie will start its release November in North America, in December in Europe and from January in UK and Australia and Germany.

As 'Deadline' reports today, the latest one to join the big screen adaptation of A WRINKLE IN TIME is Chris Pine! He will apparently be Mr. Murray, father to the main character Meg, played by Storm Reid, and husband to Dr. Kate Murray played by Gugu Mbatha Raw!

A WRINKLE IN TIME follows a young girl whose government scientist father has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a tesseract, which involves being transported to a fifth dimension with mysterious inhabited planets. She takes part in a search for her father and sees some incredible creatures along the way.

From Chile comes the trailer for the movie which will represent them at this year's Oscar nominations race for best foreign film. This season really did not bring us many multi camera sitcoms, but networks are slowly picking up orders for possible new pilots and one of them, an untitled one, will have a legendary comedian returning to the small screens! As 'Deadline' reports Carol Burnett will star in ABC's pilot for a new sitcom, produced by Amy Poehler, about a family who gets a chance to buy the house of their dreams, a house they’d never be able to afford under normal circumstances, but is able to under extremely abnormal circumstances. They must live with the current owner, an older actress (Burnett) — until she dies.

She is not the only legendary female comedian to return to TV soon, NBC is developing a Stockard Channing sitcom pilot ME & MEAN MARGARET (about a fearsome faded film and Broadway legend and the unwitting boy lawyer who has to babysit her), Candice Bergen is to topline sitcom PEARL (as a larger than life family matriarch who finds out she has cancer, and becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family's life before she dies), while Kathy Bates will lead sitcom DISJOINTED for Netflix as a mom who runs her own marijuana dispensary with the help of her three sons!

'THE GREAT INDOORS'

But a multi camera sitcom to arrive to us as early as next Thursday is CBS comedy THE GREAT INDOORS which is set to premiere in primetime on October 27th with Joel McHale portraying Jack who has made a name for himself as an adventure reporter for the magazine Outdoor Limits. His days of exploring the world end when the magazine's founder, Roland, announces its move to web-only publishing and assigns Jack to supervise the Millennials who make up its online team.

Stephen Fry will appear as Roland: an outdoorsman in his own right and founder of the magazine! Christopher Mintz Plasse as Clark: a tech nerd who knows everything about surviving on Mars and a zombie apocalypse yet has not been out of the city! Well, if you weren't already looking forward to Disney's sequel to their celebrated classic MARY POPPINS RETURNS now you might because the latest British star to join the cast lead by Emily Blunt in the title role of the magical nanny is Colin Firth! In the movie set for Christmas 2018 release, he will be playing William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank.

The story is set 25 years after the events of the first Mary Poppins movie.following the now grown children from the 1964 original, Michael and Jane Banks, who experience a personal loss that results in the arrival of the magical Mary Poppins, who teams up with her lamplighter friend Jack (Lin Manuel Miranda) to help the family. Directed by Rob Marshall it will have Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer playing the grown up kids.

TOM HARDY TO PLAY 

LEGENDARY ANTARCTIC EXPLORER SHACKLETON

He did quite a lot of epic movies so far, but according to 'Deadline' Tom Hardy is set to do a new one, and a cold one as well. He will play famous explorer Ernest SHACKLETON in a Studiocanal movie about the legendary adventurer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic, although the polar explorer is best remembered in how he handled adversity. His ship Endurance was crushed by ice floes and he managed to keep everyone alive in a harrowing journey to safety in sub zero temperatures.

'EARLY MAN' ANIMATED FILM 

TOM HIDDLESTON AND EDDIE REDMAYNE LEND VOICES

What a combo indeed: as 'The Hollywood Reporter' writes today our fave Hiddles in the world Tom Hiddleston will join another of our faves Eddie Redmayne in lending voices to Aardman's new animated movie EARLY MAN! It will  be Oscar winner Nick Park's (Wallace and Gromit) first animated feature in more than a decade. In this prehistoric comedy adventure Hiddles will voice the ridiculously pompous Lord Nooth, governor of the Bronze Age town, a money loving tyrant and rival to the film’s Stone Age hero, Dug (Redmayne)!

EARLY MAN, set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth,  tells the story of plucky caveman Dug, along with sidekick Hognob, who unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in the first ever game of soccer. The movie, which is currently shooting in Bristol and looking for a USA distributor, will be released around Europe in 2018!

As he explores the ship, he discovers the truth about their disappearance and is forced to confront his own role in losing her.

'GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2'

Although the first one was rather mediocre at its best and not that much funny if at all, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is getting its sequel and today you can watch first footage from it showing Chris Pratt as Star Lord and also Zoe Saldana doing a bit of flying with the Rocket Raccoon punching some walls. Set to be released into galaxy next May it will again be directed by James Gunn with Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell also making appearances in the sf adventure because, you know, the galaxy won't save itself.

We're talking all Netflix today, starting with the news coming from 'Variety' that Justin Theroux has joined Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard in their sf movie MUTE! To be directed by Warcraft helmer Duncan Jones the movie will see Skarsgard portraying a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons seem to be the only recurring clue.

'GILMORE GIRLS' FINAL SEASON

A treat for the ladies, today! Netflix has released the first four posters for their farewell four episodes for legendary GILMORE GIRLS series which will start airing all of its four new and last ever episodes from November 25th with each episode done in a form of a hour and a half long television episode set in four different seasons, so you will follow the important moments in Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) lives in a spring, summer, autumn and winter setting (hence the title A YEAR IN LIFE), nine years after we last saw the events in Stars Hollow. As you know Lorelai is probably getting back together with Luke, Rory is pursuing her career in politics, and rumour has it one of them might be expecting a baby, but it might just be a rumour!

It is interesting that all of the original cast members are returning for the finale from Lorelai's best friend and business partner Sookie played by Melissa McCarthy to her love played by Scott Patterson, her mother played by Kelly Bishop, Rory's friends played by Keiko Agena and Lisa Weil and the trio of her old boyfriends played by Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and Jared Padalecki! Yanic Truesdale returns as Lorelai's concierge.
