AMC'S 'FEED THE BEAST'
SERIES TO STAR DAVID SCHWIMMER AND JIM STURGESS
Beside the news that David Bowie's LABYRINTH is getting a reboot and that McG might direct new MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, other news comes from the TV world! FRIENDS' David Scwimmer and movie star Jim Sturgess will lead new AMC's series FEED THE BEAST!
Based on Danish series BANKEROT, the ten episode series will see the
two of them playing best friends, Tommy Moran (David Schwimmer), and
Dion Patras (Jim Sturgess), who take one last shot at their dream of
opening a restaurant. They push each other, welcome love into their
lives and overcome their demons. They also betray, backstab, manipulate
and coerce each other into the most dangerous situations imaginable!

sort of a Romeo and Juliet sequel and set in 16th century Verona, it
picks up where Shakespeare’s story left off, charting the
treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and
Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. In the book, to end the family feud,
Prince Escalus orders the most eligible Montague bachelor, Benvolio,
Romeo’s best friend, to marry Juliet’s older cousin, Capulet maid
Rosaline, the girl Romeo first loved.

NBC'S NEW TV COMEDIES
'CROWDED' & 'GOOD FORTUNE'
Beside moving THE CARMICHAEL SHOW and new sitcom CROWDED into Sunday evenings from March, NBC has also ordered a pilot for
multicamera sitcom GOOD FORTUNE an ensemble comedy that focuses on a hyper structured young woman whose life is upended when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller. CROWDED is also a multicamera sitcom: After 20 years of parenting, empty nesters Mike (Patrick Warburton) and Martina (Carrie Preston) are finally reclaiming their wild side. Yet when both of their two grown daughters unexpectedly move back in, and Mike’s parents scratch their plans to spend their golden years in Florida, their roost is full again.
From executive producer Sean Hayes, this new (and very timely) family comedy proves that life is crazy with a full house, especially the second time around.

Still Star Crossed sounds like a show that would quickly become one of my guilty pleasures. lol

DeleteCrowded just sounds meh. They keep firing off these sitcoms but it seems very few become hits these days.
ReplyDeletesadly they don't, although I think most of them deserve to be hits. Sadly, gone are the happy family days of the 80s when warmth from the small screens was welcomed. Nowadays US audience just prefers seeing blood, rape, killings, humiliations as served from GOT or crude, cold, empty humour as seen in most of today's single camera comedies. I myself love these family sitcoms no matter how dated they seem, because their essential idea - family spirit and warmth - can never really get old in my mind. That is why I loved this season LAST MAN STANDING, UNDATEABLE, BABY DADDY, YOUNG AND HUNGRY and even TRUTH BE TOLD, I also loved YOUR FAMILY OR MINE but still don't know if it will get a new season or not. I will most certainly give CROWDED a go to.
DeleteI do miss those sitcoms from the 80's. I think a lot of us here in the US do as well, and that's why we are so excited for reboots, like Fuller House. Then again, we really do love our Walking Dead, so I can't say we want all those feel good shows to overrun everything else. We just need to find a decent balance ;)
DeleteWALKING DEAD is a bad example here, dear, because, despite the nastiness, that one has probably the deepest of depths I've ever seen on the small screens, unlike that garbage GOT which just fetishizes violence and gives torture porn to those who jerk to such stuff :)
DeleteI haven't seen GOT, but I know a lot of people love that show. I just had a Frenchman on Instagram telling me about how great the show is, so I guess it's a global phenomenon? How about I reference Dexter instead of Walking Dead. That one did have some gore, but it ended up being one of my favorite shows.
DeleteSpeaking of show watching, or rather movie watching, we watched Into the Woods this weekend. The girls thought it was ok. Probably would have liked it better without all the singing. I also watched Beauty and the Beast this morning by myself since I'm the only one who's studied a little French. Now, I am super rusty in my French, only catching about every 10th word or so, but it was enough to follow along with the jist of the movie. I absolutely loved it! It was so visually beautiful! Thank you so much again for sending them. I am hoping we'll have time to watch a few more from the dvd this weekend.
yes, people like it because most people don't care about morals and don't watch what they watch critically. Which is exactly why violence on TV has become something so relative and acceptable.
DeleteWait, I could swear I've sent you the one with subtitles :) Or you're not used to them? We watch everything here with subs from the moment we're born so we are used to it, but I guess it does take some practice
Maybe you did, but I had to download a program to watch it on my laptop, so maybe it wasn't compatible with the subtitles. The next time I watch it, I'll play around with it and see if I can get them to pop up. But, overall, I did understand it and thought it was a magnificent movie :)

ReplyDeletehope they don't cast some teensy nincompoops like in SHANNARA :( I'm still watching that one, but them teensy amateurs get on my nerves seriously, it is just beyond me how can somebody be an actor or an actress and have childish facial expressions in all scenes
DeleteMan, I've got that one building up on my Tivo. Sounds like the actors leave a lot to be desired. You'll have to let me know if you call it quits on the show so I can just delete them without wasting my time on it.
Deleteit is not entirely impossible that you wouldn't like it, maybe you don't mind the teens as much as I do :) It is just the lack of greater vision for me in that show, they could have made it really huge, but the casting, acting and horrid costumes have made it cheap
