Another one coming from China is epic action drama which opened at Cannes Film Festival this year: THE ASSASSIN has the story set during the mighty Tang Dynasty period in Chinese history. Nie Yinniang (Shu Qi) returns to family after several years in exile. The mission of her order is to eliminate the tyrany of the Governors who avoid the authority of the Emperor. Now she will have to choose between sacrificing the man she loves (Chang Chen), or break definitively with the "order of the Assassins". The movie has a USA distributor as well!
Coming Home sounds like a touching movie.

DeleteComing Home will most certainly be a great film to see. The story has such depth, sadness and truth in it. It's also beautifully filmed I loved his Raise the Red Lantern and several of us made it required viewing for undergraduate students. It was a yearly event and although those students grumbled about "having to see a movie for credit", they all came out changed as people and grateful to have seen it.
ReplyDeleteI've not been in as I got sunstroke last week from working outside too long in the heat. I wound up in hospital for few hours and have been wiped out since then.

Dahlink,underneath it all, I'm daft as a badger. I knew it was hot out, but I didn't realise how hot until I was wobbling around like a drunken woman. By then it was too late. I'm fine now, just grouchy from being stuck inside.

Utter craziness! Didn't you feel you was hot, dear? The hubby now won't let you out till the end of summer :) You need to buy yourself a big straw hat too so that you will at least have some shade above your head.
DeleteWhile I was returning from city yesterday at around noon with my groceries, I came upon a bunch of very black people, immigrants from Africa seeking asylym in EU but they usually stop them in my city since we're at the border with EU, and one of them wore long pants,long sleeves and a woollen hat on his head even though it was like 45*C and I was personally on the brink of dying... some people are resilient to it I guess... But I tearred up a bit thinking of their destiny... all young people, dirty from travel, not criminals, just young people trying to escape hell and ending up lost in some unknown country :(

DeleteI tend to go for quieter films, rather than action, so Coming Home looks marvelous. The music in the trailer is also beautiful.

DeleteSome day's I'd like to forget lol. Just kidding ;) That would be truly awful, but if that were ever to happen, I'm sure neither of us would give up on the other, no matter how hard it got. I am terrified of getting Alzheimer Disease. It would be so tragic to forget the faces of those I love!
Deleteit reminds me of that film that Channing had a few years ago in which that godawful Rachel McAdams plays his wife who forgets they're married after an accident and he has to vow and charm her all again. As if it takes a lot with that body of his :)
