JAMES MARSDEN JOINS ANTHONY HOPKINS AND RODRIGO SANTORO
It seems that the new cast additions to HBO's new science fiction TV series WESTWORLD keep on coming each new day: after Rodrigo Santoro, who joined Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood with a bunch of other actors, the latest movie star to join the show is always brilliant and charismatic James Marsden. In the show, which is set in a a futuristic theme park where android residents fulfil dark desires of human visitors, James Marsden will play Teddy Flood, who is described as a mysterious new arrival to a small frontier town. Teddy quickly proves both his charm and his talent with a revolver. His pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark odyssey. Other new actors include Eddie Rouse, Demetrius Grosse, Kyle Bornheimer, Currie Graham, Lena Georgas, Steven Ogg and Timothy Lee DePriest.

Traditional song Sing Me a Song of a Lass That is Gone turns into the most amazing epic sequence with Scottish bagpipes and drums emphasizing the atmosphere of the show set in the 18th century Scotland. The music is written by Emmy Award winning composer Bear McCreary who wrote outstanding music for BLACK SAILS, DA VINCI'S DEMONS and THE WALKING DEAD. We've seen the opening episode (which has already had almost a million viewers since it was released online earlier this week), which was a bit slow, at times obscene but generally promising.If you live in USA you can watch the whole pilot episode below:

The Scottish music is amazing. Not sure if I'll watch tonight or not. I'll probably be the only one that isn't watching if I don't. :)

ReplyDeleteladies love that saga, although the dialogues in the opening episode were a bit too amateurish at some points and mediocre.

ReplyDeleteI'll probably give Outlander a few episodes to see if it gets going. The energy really needs to pick up though. Like you said, the dialogue was a little mediocre in that first episode.
Try again, the video works. But that is the title theme you see at the beginning of the show, anyway :)
DeleteYep, when he started explaining Halloween to that lady as if he was talking to a child, that was really childishly written :) And throughout the episode I was worried she would catch a cold roaming around only in that white nightgown :) And me was a bit startled by the pussy eating scene LOL.... they were kinda desperate to throw in so many sex scenes due to the rest of it being so slow
Well, that sex scene was tame compared to Orange is the New Black. They show that in just about every episode. :P

Love the Outlander theme music! The words are contemporary and have obviously been written to fit the show, but the music is one of my favourite traditional Scottish tunes called "Skye Boat Song" (originally about Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape from Scotland after the failed uprising of 1745). Outlander starts showing on Canadian TV on August 24 -- can't wait!

DeleteI did set Outlander as a season pass on my dvr. I usually wait for a few episodes to record, then watch them together. Now I am worried this show is going to suck, based on the comments here. I hate dialogue that makes me cringe, and this sounds like it's headed for that.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't write it of just yet :) The first episode wasn't all that bad, it had its good moments. We shall see after the second and third episode if it picks up on action.
