FIRST MINDBLOWING TRAILER & MEGA SPOTLIGHT ON 'DRACULA UNTOLD' EPIC ADVENTURE WITH LUKE EVANS, DOMINIC COOPER, SARAH GADON, SAMANTHA BARKS

DRACULA UNTOLD
FIRST MINDBLOWING TRAILER
Check it out people! The first absolutely mindblowing trailer for Luke Evan's epic fantasy action adventure DRACULA UNTOLD is here and it brings all kinds of epic fun! Weaving both the historical and the fictional characters DRACULA UNTOLD explores the origin of famous Dracula, mixing vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad Tepes the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war. Starring Luke Evans the film is out this October!

DRACULA TIDBITS
It was originally supposed to be directed by Alex Proyas with Sam Worthington in the lead role and with Abbie Cornish playing his wife, but then they hired Gary Shore (this is his first feature film, before this he was making commercials) who had smaller budget in mind. Luke Evans took over the lead role, and along with him the original name DRACULA YEAR ZERO was changed into DRACULA UNTOLD and later on the release date was postponed from August to October. It is interesting that this is Luke Evans' fourth time to play a God or a royal: he was God Apollo in CLASH OF THE TITANS, Supreme God Zeus in IMMORTALS, Bard the Bowman future king of Dale in THE HOBBIT and now he is the prince of Wallachia!

THE CAST OF DRACULA
 LUKE EVANS & DOMINIC COOPER
Welsh superstar Luke Evans is the historical medieval Prince Vlad Tepes, the Wallachian ruler who would later on become the inspiration for Bram Stoker's vampire. In the film he is a young 15th century prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire!
SULTAN MEHMED
Dominic Cooper will play Turkish sultan Mehmed (It is interesting that this won't be Cooper's first time around vampires, since he recently starred in ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER! ),  who is famous for conquering Constantinople and ending the Byzantine Empire.
SARAH GADON IS MIRENA
Sarah Gadon, whom we watched as a medieval wife of a nobleman in WORLD WITHOUT END, will be that again since she will play Dracula's wife Mirena!
GYPSY CHIEFTAN
Zach McGowan, whom we watched as the pirate chief in BLACK SAILS, will be a leader again but this time as Shkelgim, a gypsy chief!
EVIL BABA YAGA
LES MISERABLES star Samantha Barks will be Baba Yaga, an angelic woman from Eastern European folklore who turns into an atrociously deadly witch.
Thor Kristjansson plays Bright Eyes, who was enslaved as a young boy and is now an Ottoman Empire assassin, while GAME OF THRONES' Art Parkinson will portray Dracula's son, Ingeras.

DEZZY'S HISTORY CLASS
Vlad Tepes, or Vlad the Impaler, was the 15th century prince of Wallachia who inspired the character of Dracula (the name comes from his Draculesti dynasty). He ruled Wallachia (part of today's Romania) while the whole Balkan peninsula suffered under the ruthless Ottoman tyranny. He was a member of the Order of the Dragon and is actually considered a hero in many countries since he protected Christian people from Turkish aggressors. His bloodthirsty reputation from the tales comes from his practice of impaling his enemies. It is believed that he had tens of thousands of victims.

  3. Yikes! Never mind. That one will be too vampire-y for me after all. But I predict it will be quite popular. :)

    1. What, what? My first reaction was the opposite, that it isn't overly vampirish :) It's mostly historical and epic and then turns into vampire revenge maybe in the last part. Loved how he decimates the Turkish troops with his storm of bats :)

    2. No, there were teeth and creepy faces, and you know there will be lots of blood and impaling. You watch it first and then tell me if I can handle it.

    3. well. after watching THE WALKING DEAD even this sensitive soul of mine can take pretty much anything :) if it has story and depth
It is interesting that the trailer shows that scene in which the sultan's soldiers come to take Vlad's son.it is that shocking true story that I told you once before about our children being taken by force from their mothers to be raised and trained as bloodthirsty janissaries who would often come back to their homeland to kill and slay their own kin not even knowing their true roots.... We even have so many traditional songs and ballads about it

  8. Baba Yaga is more than an evil witch. She is the Crone Goddess and an aspect of the Divine Feminine. But don't worry, I'm not going to bitch endlessly about her portrayal the way I did with that Egyptian movie, LOL! I'll just stew silently instead.

    1. in my country, in our folklore she is an ebil old crone too, she is the part of Slavic mythology together with her sister Baba Marta (who comes in early spring to mess with nature bringing snow again) :)

    1. I just hope it won't be bad for the film, since we haven't had huge blockbusters released in Autumn, they usually come either Christmas, early spring or summer
