FIRST POSTER FOR 'BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP' THRILLER WITH NICOLE KIDMAN, MARK STRONG & COLIN FIRTH! 'LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD' GETS MOVIE ADAPTATION! ALEX RUSSELL & BERENICE MARLOHE IN 'PRISONER OF WAR' SF EPIC

BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP POSTER
NICOLE KIDMAN WITH MARK STRONG AND COLIN FIRTH
Still not much of movie news to give you, people, so I will entertain you today with the first poster for the big screen adaptation of Stephen Watson's bestselling novel BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP showing Nicole Kidman, Mark Strong and Colin Firth in the lead roles! As you know, since yours truly was one of the worldwide translators of the book, the story follows a woman who wakes up everyday with no memories. She can remember only the things which happen during the day before she goes to sleep so her husband has to explain to her who she is each morning when she wakes up thinking she's in bed with a stranger. Later on a doctor secretly helps her to write down her memories which leads her to a dramatic discovery with a thriller twist (I myself found the twist rather cheap).

LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD
GETTING MOVIE ADAPTATION
Another book to be made into a film is Ava Dellaira's debut novel LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD which was just opted by Fox 2000. Published last month, the book follows Laurel, a high school student whose beloved older sister has died under mysterious circumstances. Emotionally frayed by the loss, she unexpectedly finds catharsis in an assignment from her English teacher: write a letter to a dead person. Instead of handing in the assignment, though, she begins an ongoing series of letters to an eclectic group of rock stars, poets, and popular icons such as Kurt Cobain, Judy Garland, Amelia Earhart, and Amy Winehouse. She writes to her epistolary confidants about navigating new and complicated friendships, learning to live with her splintering family, falling in love for the first time. Ultimately, the letters reveal the painful truth about her past.

'PRISONER OF WAR' SF MOVIE
 ALEX RUSSELL & BERENICE MARLOHE
One of the movies that was shopped over at Cannes this year is science fiction thriller PRISONER OF WAR from Voltage Pictures. To be directed by Joe Miale, the movie might star CHRONICLE's young Australian actor Alex Russell and SKYFALL's French actress Berenice Marlohe!  The film tells both epic and intimate story of humankind’s last stand against a cataclysmic alien invasion. Set in the war-ravaged African countryside, a U.S. soldier and a French foreign aid worker team up to survive the alien onslaught. As they journey through the battlefield in search of refuge, their bond will be tested when the soldier discovers his true identity.

    1. I'm kinda getting bored with both of them, especially after Nicole played Grace Kelly (an absolute abomination of a casting choice, if you ask me), but I do like Mark Strong....

    2. I agree re Nicole's role in Grace Kelly. Very bad taste indeed.

Still think Colin Firth could drag anyone along to the movies though :)

    3. it's interesting that this is the third, or even fourth, film Nicole and Colin have done together.... RAILWAYMAN, BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP, PADDINGTON BEAR, GENIUS....yep, the fourth one

    4. And I have seen neither. Shame on me. I'll have to watch them now on DVD.

    5. Only RAILWAYMAN is out :), dear, the rest are yet to hit the big screens :)

  3. You were one of the worldwide translators of the book? That's the exciting part of this to me!

    1. I hope the books doesn't disappoint you like it did me... it was fine until it was psychological and scientific... but at the end it turns into an extremely cheap and unoriginal crime thriller....

  5. I remember talking to you on Twitter about translating the book. I'd give this a go just because you were associated with the book.

Darling, I found a documentary on the Youtube that was done by a young American journalist. She went to Serbia to meet with a Serbian female journalist that was the same age as she. Her purpose was to try and show Americans the absolute horror of the NATO bombings. She spoke to many people who told stories of losing loved ones and she went to the bombed out buildings to show people the devastation. She also included footage filmed in Serbia of children being pulled out of buildings dead and horribly burned. She also showed how intelligent and sophisticated the Serbian people are and how beautiful and modern Belgrade is. I cried from beginning to end. The title of the documentary was simply "Why?"

    1. Ah, dear, you don't have to :) If you read all the books I've translated you'd have to read such trash as TRUE BLOOD and ERAGON lol

Those bombed out buildings still stand in their places unrepaired, dead, hollow like scary ghosts of some dark past.... not that our present is any brighter :(
We are just little pawns in the hands of the great evil, dear, victims of insatiable hunger of the big powers who feed on dead kids, men, women, innocent ones..... who use spinning, falsifying, propaganda to bend history and reality the way they want to.... And I don't think it will ever get better.... the world is just a hopeless place when it comes to politics

    2. It takes hours and hours of scouring the internet to find out what is really going on in Eastern Europe. The Western news are full of lies and Youtube keeps pulling the videos from foreign news agencies, which keeps me from finding news sources outside US and England.

Politicians would flush us all down the toilet if it made them money.

    3. They certainly would, dear, there are theories that the floods here could've been easily prevented but the politicians have their secret plans ... for example they sacrificed some of the cities instead of thermal powerplants because they want to sell those to Germans.... It is just horrible... and the more you get informed the more horror your heart has to take in...

      Delete
    4. They're selling the powerplants to the Germans! That's a huge mistake and I don't like it. Damn Germans already own most of Europe.

      Delete
    5. that is the secret plan, dear, the current ebil government came to power too because they promised some of the factories and companies for a cheap price to Americans too....
Germany destroys you to the ground in WW2, then uses all the stolen riches to flourish, while you rot in devastated hell for decades, and when you finally recover they Devila Merkel comes and buys it all over from you.....

  8. I hope Before I go to Sleep is just as good as it's poster. Glad Ava's book is getting a movie adaptation. I'm a little tired of the alien war business. Though I admit Tom Cruises movie has me intrigued.

  14. Love letters kind of reminds me of the show, Jeremiah, wherein Luke Perry's character wrote letters to his dead father and burned them in the fire so that the smoke would carry his message to heaven.

    1. that is interesting, wonder what happened to Luke after that.... we did love him full nude in OZ show

    1. it ain't an easy job since there are news only maybe on in the middle of the week and then the rest of the week is hell... Weekends, Mondays, Tuesdays usually have no news .... it's sometimes tough... especially since the studios aren't releasing as many pics and posters of the upcoming movies as they did before so I often cannot make spotlights either....

  16. Nicole is such a great actress but she was so miscast as Grace....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. she is miscast in most of her films.... AUSTRALIA would've been huge with Winslet or Blanchett instead of her, MOULIN ROUGE would've worked even bigger wonders with Catherine Zeta Jones, GRACE OF MONACO would've been more believable with Emily Blunt.... just to give some examples
