LIZ HURLEY IS QUEEN OF
ENGLAND IN 'THE ROYALS' SHOW
A few years ago UK had brilliant mini series
THE PALACE in which Rupert Evans played young king of a fictional Great
Britain. It was marvellous, and it seems we are getting something
similar over in USA. Deadline reports that Liz Hurley has just scored
the lead role in E! new drama series THE ROYALS which will focus on a
fictional royal family and will be loosely based on Shakespeare's
"Hamlet"! The show created by ONE TREE HILL producers, will see Liz
Hurley playing the sexy, devious and conflicted Queen Helena, who
struggles to cope with the death of her oldest son and the crisis of
confidence this creates with her husband, King Simon, while working to
deter the growing relationship between her middle son, now the heir
apparent, and his American girlfriend.
LIAM MCINTYRE AUDITIONS
FOR JEDI ROLE IN STAR WARS VII?
In latest casting rumours around the upcoming science fiction movie STAR WARS VII the name mentioned for a possible role is Spartacus himself: apparently Liam McIntyre has auditioned for a Jedi role. Liam has confirmed that he has read for the role. Last week, Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd Wood for mentioned for the roles of Leia's and Solo's kids, while above mentioned Cumberbatch has been mentioned for a role of a Sith Lord. Liam McIntyre is currently filming HERCULES epic in which he plays a captain, and a friend of Kellan Lutz who is in the lead role.
IAN MCKELLEN IS RETIRED SHERLOCK HOLMES
Over at Screen Daily they report that Ian McKellen will play retired Sherlock Holmes in A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND. Retired Holmes is now living in a Sussex village with his housekeeper and her son who wants to be a detective himself in 1947. Bill Condon is directing. He already worked with Ian on GODS AND MONSTERS.

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH
IN 'THE LOST CITY OF Z' ADVENTURE MOVIE
Although the focus being solely on him kinda ruined STAR TREK INTO
DARKNESS, if you ask me, Benedict Cumberbatch is still moving full steam
ahead. According to Deadline, one of his new roles might be the lead on
in THE LOST CITY OF Z! To be directed by James Gray, the film will be
based on the David Grann's bestselling book about Percy Fawcett, who in
1925 headed into the depths of the Amazon jungles in Brazil. Fawcett was
there to map the jungle and, hobbled by malaria, he discovered a
mythical city he called THE LOST CITY OF Z. Scorned by peers who claimed
that this ancient kingdom was a fraud, Fawcett headed back into the
jungle with his son and one other, braving the dangers of disease,
insects, snakes, poison darts and other hazards to reinforce his
discovery. None of them were ever seen again and it remains one of the
great exploration mysteries of the 20th Century. The film was originally
supposed to star Brad Pitt.
The Lost City of Z was a good book, but more of an encyclopedic sort of study than the rollicking adventure narrative I was hoping for. I can definitely see a movie doing extremely well, with the right focus. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteyep, Brad Pitt bought the rights long time ago and is now producing it ....
DeleteI like the sound of that Sherlock project with Ian McKellan playing a retired Holmes. And I've read about the Fawcett story before. Such a mystery. But it would be easy to disappear in the Amazon and never be heard of again. Just ask any writer. :P
ReplyDeleteI can't actually imagine anyone going to Amazon and actually returning :)) Just ask the piranhas and all those woodoo tribes there.. and the jaguars and and and ..... :) and the gators....
DeleteOoh, count me in for The Lost City of Z with Benedict. I loved the book and he'd be perfect for the part :)
ReplyDeleteglad to see you excited, Marci!
DeleteIan McKellen as a doddery old Sherlock Holmes would be an interesting role!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely :)
DeleteLiam McIntyre Will make an excellent Jedi, and I think that Ian McKellen could make any movie worth seeing.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have any sexy pics of Ian do you? ;)
I did once publish a picture from his youth, he wasn't a bad looking fella, you know :)
Deleteand we even had a post dedicated just to him:

Where has the gorgeous Liz Hurley been hiding? It's so great to see her again!!!!
ReplyDeletewe do love her Gorgeous Hurleyness :) She will be amazing in the role!
DeleteLiz Hurley, hello... thank you for the solid post... i am worried about some of the star wars news, not by the choice of actors. nope just the worries it's going to be a huge money waster.
ReplyDeleteand in my experience, usually when they're mentioning interesting names in the casting process we end up with the worse possible ones getting the gig ....
DeleteIan McKellan is marrying Patrick Stewart and his bride this weekend. I think that's really awesome. I wish I could go to that wedding. How cool would it be to have Magneto/Gandalf presiding over your nuptials?
ReplyDeletereally? Haven't heard of that, but what a delightful event it is! Imagine if Hugh Jackman is there as well....
DeleteLiz Hurley Fwoooar!
ReplyDeletethat's the reaction we expected :)
DeleteWell, who could pass up a show with Liz Hurley? My husband isn't one to watch any show or movie that focuses on royalty, but if anyone could get him to do it, Liz would be it. In his imaginary world, that's his girlfriend lol.
ReplyDeleteLiz could do it, Liz could do it :)
DeleteThose are some racy pictures of Liz! I bet your guy followers are enjoying them!
ReplyDeleteindeed they are :)
DeleteI was thinking the same thing as Sherry when I started reading about her new series...made me wonder if "The Royals" was going to be some late-night HBO thing...that was, until I read your mention of "Hamlet," lol.
ReplyDeleteHaving been a fan of "One Tree Hill" for some time (the earlier seasons; I lost interest after the show started reaching way past it's expiration date), I'd be willing to give "The Royals" some play. None of the Star Wars movies are on my radar but if that Liam guy lands the Jedi part, he might be bringing the sexy back to an old, yet, classic franchise, which could be good in terms of attracting younger audiences for greater box office results.
It's funny that Brad Pitt was going to star in "The Lost City of Z"...I was on the fence about "World War Z" and didn't have high expectations of it but changed my mind after I went to see it because I found it to be entertaining. However, this "Lost City of Z" movie seems like it might be more interesting than Pitt's zombie 'Z' flick...yet, I'm not very familiar with Benedict enough to determine if this is something that I would watch. Now, I am curious about him though since you mentioned "Star Trek: Into Darkness" and I STILL need to see that one. A lot of my focus was on Chris Pine, in the 2009 release.

I'm quite excited about THE ROYALS, could be really interesting and spicy with the right cast, and they've started brilliantly with Liz!
DeleteI'm watching WORLD WAR Z this weekend most probably :)
Ooh, ooh, third generation Star Wars. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHope the new generation is better than the previous ones :)
DeleteI really REALLY hope the new Star Wars movies are good!
ReplyDeletefingers crossed, Jemi!
DeleteI enjoy the last actor. As for Star Trek, I haven't seen it, and since I like him so much, I can't see him making it worse.
ReplyDeletePS: Got four more free body washes today. Tone. Never used Tone body wash. Only the bars.
it wasn't about him as an actor, but about the focus being too much on his character instead on the crew of the ship.
DeleteWhat's tone wash? When it gives you tan?
I hope the new star wars is good
ReplyDeletecan't be any worse than the previous ones :)
DeleteI am so behind.....
ReplyDeletetotally :)
