PREVIEWS FOR NEW FOX FANTASY SHOWS 'ALMOST HUMAN' WITH KARL URBAN & MICHAEL EALY AND 'SLEEPY HOLLOW' WITH TOM MISON, NICOLE BEHARIE! 90'S SF MOVIE 'OUTBREAK' TO BE MADE INTO NBC SCIENCE FICTION SHOW

NEW 'ALMOST HUMAN' PREVIEW
KARL URBAN IS A FUTURISTIC COP
It will be a television day today at HOLLYWOOD SPY. Two new previews for you: first a new trailer for Fox Autumn show ALMOST HUMAN!  Produced by STAR TREK's J.J. Abrams and starring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy it is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama  set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.
DEZZY'S SCIENCE CLASS
In the show Karl Urban's character gets a cyborg leg after an accident. Robotic prosthetic legs already exist today. Of course they are not incorporated into the body but attached to it. They have biosensors which detect signals from the user's nervous or muscular systems which they then relay to a controller located inside the robotic leg. This means that biosensors can detect the force and position that you want your leg to take. You have seen that thanks to different kinds of prosthetic legs some people with amputated legs have even competed in running at the Olympics trying their luck against the athletes with legs.

VIRAL 'OUTBREAK' MOVIE
TO BECOME NBC TV SHOW
Only a few days ago I told you that sf movie 12 MONKEYS is getting its TV series version at SyFy, and know here's another science fiction movie from the 90's which will be turned into a television show: NBC is planning to turn OUTBREAK into their new drama. If you remember, the 1995 movie followed The 1995 film focused a dangerous viral outbreak that spread from Africa to the US threatening to become a global pandemic and it starred Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, Rene Russo, Donald Sutherland and Morgan Freeman!

NEW 'SLEEPY HOLLOW' PREVIEW
 TOM MISON IS ICHABOD CRANE
The second new preview is for Fox fantasy crime show SLEEPY HOLLOW!  From STAR TREK producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci it is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, in which Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison from “Salmon Fishing  in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.

  1. OUTBREAK into a series? It worked for THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, so why not.

  2. I like Urban so we'll give "Almost Human" a go when it appears in the UK and "Sleep Hollow" at least sounds interesting?

  4. Again I'm pulling for Sleepy Hollow filmed right here in Wilmywood, which means lots of jobs for locals. Tons of people turned out for a sneak preview the other night at a local theatre. Good reviews from the folks around here. Of course what else are they gonna say?

    1. No big stars, plus I'm not that into sci fi. However, I do want to see it do well so it stays local.

    2. not at all... it's fake-violent lots of blood...

  8. Almost Human looks really good. I know the question about synths having rights, feelings and being real has been done before, but it does deal with human prejudice. And the graphics look cool.

Viral, I won't watch as I feel it is fear mongering. Something the media is far too good at already.

Sleepy Hollow has a sexy lead actor-yeah I'm in.

    2. True. Otherwise, I'll just keep watching Supersized vs Superskinny and Britain's Secret Eaters. Love those shows.

    3. I watched Secret Eaters once at TLC and it was quite shocking to me how some people can eat abnormal tones of callories per day... I was flabbergasted...

    4. Did TLC show the UK one?

Have you tried Supersized vs Superskinny yet? UK version. It's interesting because even the skinny people have problems with food. And the two go into a feeding clinic and in the end, often help each other.

      I love that.

    5. I think I've seen a scene from it tonight on TLC in which they've searched their bags when they entered the clinic and I remember they also had those who secretly puke their food out...

Yes, it was UK one, I remember a woman, mother of the family, who ate in one day about as much as I eat in two weeks....

  17. Ha, I recently watched Outbreak again. Not sure how it will go as a series though.

Love the idea of Almost Human. Sleepy Hollow could be interesting. I hope we get all these in Oz without having to wait months and months and months, lol.

  18. The premise behind Almost Human certainly isn't original, so I hope they do something original with it. I like the idea about Outbreak and I think I'm going to watch the movie again (maybe tonight). Sleepy Hollow, I have no idea how many versions of this story I've seen. I don't know if I can take another. Thanks for the info on the first two!
