CAMERON DIAZ IS MISS HANNIGAN IN "ANNIE" REMAKE! IS VIN DIESEL MARVEL'S NEW "BLACK PANTHER"? "ESCAPE PLAN" TRAILER WITH SYLVESTER STALLONE & ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER

  CAMERON DIAZ IS
MISS HANNIGAN IN "ANNIE" REMAKE
After Sandra Bullock has recently declined an offer to play crazy Miss Hannigan in the big screen remake of famous musical ANNIE, Columbia Pictures has replaced her with Cameron Diaz. The new version has a contemporary setting with the story following an orphan named Annie (Quvenzhané Wallis), who is confined to an orphanage run by a cruel supervisor named Agatha Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). She is sent to Oliver Warbucks' (Jamie Foxx) home for a short time and convinces the wealthy industrialist to help her find her parents. Along the way, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and a female partner scheme up a plan to impersonate her family and gain the rewards. It was also revealed recently that we shall also watch Cameron's BAD TEACHER in a movie sequel after it gets its television version this Autumn in a form of sitcom.

 IS VIN DIESEL
MARVEL'S BLACK PANTHER?
You have probably already heard the hot news: Vin Diesel is apparently in secret negotiations to take the role of BLACK PANTHER! And it's not a gossip, since Vin revealed at his own Facebook page that Marvel has requested a meeting with him and that his fans will easily guess what for. He might be wanted for some of the roles in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY  and AVENGERS 2 as well or even in DR STRANGE. BLACK PANTHER is a superhero and a chief of the Panther Tribe of the powerful nation of Wakanda in Africa! Vin has the third part in his RIDDICK sf saga coming out this September and you've recently seen him in huge blockbuster FAST AND FURIOUS 7!

  ESCAPE PLAN TRAILER
 SYLVESTER STALLONE & ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
Well, it is official - fallen action stars from the 80's and 90's are back and it appears they have an ESCAPE PLAN! Check out the first trailer for new action film in which two old action rivals Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger form a team together. The story follows Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone), a security expert framed for a crime and sent to the very prison he designed. With the help of longtime inmate Swan Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Ray hatches a plan to break out of this one-of-a-kind floating prison at sea, and clear his name. The cast also includes James Caviezel, Vincent D'Onofrio, Sam Neill, Vinnie Jones, and that nasty rapper 50 Cent and they're all ready to put their ESCAPE PLAN into reality this October!

  1. I'll pass on a remake of Annie (ugh - why?), and I think there are a lot of other heroes who deserve movie treatment ahead of Black Panther (Moon Knight and Dr. Strange top my list), but I am excited about Escape Plan.

    1. yep, especially since ANNIE is being produced by Will Nepotism Smith :(
DR STRANGE and PANTHER have been announced by Marvel for production in four or five years, methinks :) I've also heard talks that Vin could actually play SubMariner.

  2. Great post today with good news all around. (except for the Annie remake) But, I do love Cameron Diaz and she is the only reason to watch Bad Teacher.

Vin as Black Panther might work actually. It will be interesting to see what develops from these secret meetings with Marvel. For all we know, Marvel could just want to use him to play the "body" of a CGI character.

and I just love the trailer for Escape Plan!

    1. yep, Cameron will do a god job in it, she's used to playing evil ladies in a funny way :)

Yep, all is possible with Marvel :) But at least we know he won't be playing the raccoon in GUARDIANS :)

  3. I like Cameron Diaz but Bad Teacher never interested me. Escape Plan might be fun. I just watched Rocky again yesterday and oh boy is Sylvester Stallone young!

    1. yes, he was young once :P It is interesting to see how steroids have made all those action stars grow old in a freaky way from Sly to Arnie and Van Dame and even Dolph Lundgren. Not to mention Rourke, but that weren't steroids LOL

    1. Annie is also black in this version. It's because Will Smith and his wifey are producing it.

  9. Well, I'll have to see Stallone and Swartz. That's a must. As to Cameron Diaz--she's the better choice (IMHO). I love Sandra B, but Cameron seems to fit here.

  11. Vin Diesel would make a great Black Panther. Diaz is an interesting choice for Hannigan. I'd like to see how that works out.

  12. Hello Dezz! Long time time no see. :)
I checked this blog only a few times these past several months.
HOLLYWOOD SPY looks fantastic. So many things to read and see. I was much more informed when I read this blog every day or so.

I'm pretty sure Vin is not in talks for the role of Black Panther. That character if African by birth. To cast a non-black actor in that role would create such an uproar in certain circles and communities. Even that unfortunate (ethnic) cast for The Last Airbender would seem like a neighborhood squabble compared to this.
Perhaps Vin could become SubMariner like you suggested. That is, if movie rights for that Marvel character aren't tied to those of Fantastic Four (Fox Movies holds those if I'm not mistaken).
It's a tricky business, those rights, contracts and all. :)

    1. oh, Goodness, who's that dropping by my place again? :) Really haven't seen you in gazillion years, Bels. Missed you! Hope you're fine and well!

Glad you think HOLLYWOOD SPY looks fantastic, you're the best judge since you are THE ORIGINAL and THE FIRST reader, follower and friend of the site :) I hope we've progressed over the years and that you can see some development :)

Vin IS actually a black actor ... sort of :) If I remember correctly either his father or mother are black and I know that his stepmom or stepdad are African. But if Annie can suddenly become black :) why wouldn't a Black Panther become a Light Brown one or Olive Panther :) It really is about the charisma of the actor not the skin colour.
It is, however, possible he will be the SubMariner since he did offer a picture which indicates something of that kind.

    2. You wrong it's a reason why they call him the black panther

  13. Black Panther should go to an African American. He was black in the Fantastic Four comic books. Sigh. I was hoping that he'd play Thanos. I think he'd be a much better villain than a hero and Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet is just awesome.

Regarding Annie: no one can fill the shoes left by Carol Burnette.

    1. I think that either Lee Pace or Benicio Del Toro are Thanos, since they're both in the film in unspecified villain roles.

Agreed on Carol, she was outstanding!

  14. I bet Cameron Diaz will make a delightfully evil Mrs. Hannigan, although I doubt she'll be wearing what she is in her picture. I adore Vin Diesel and can't wait for the new Riddick movie -- but Black Panther? Really? He's not black and doesn't look like the chief of any African league. They need The Rock for that. I bet the Arnold/Sly movie will be a fun romp! :-)

    Replies
    1. yep, you can't really run an orphanage in a miniskirt ;)
Rock isn't black either :) Rock is from Hawaii and Vin is of a mixed race.

  20. There's only been one Stallone movie I didn't like (I think it was The Specialist). Eh, everyone has at least one dud, right? Escape Plan is totally peaking my interest.

Probably because she's spent so much time with voice overs in animation, but I really see Cameron Diaz as a better fit for Ms Hannigan than Sandra Bullock. If they'd even thought of Glenn Close though, Cameron could take a hike! Hmm, maybe I like Cameron so much cuz I see her as the younger Glenn Close. Both are versatile actors. Only the casting couch knows where either will show up next.

I love Vin Diesel; but behind the mask, does it really matter who plays the character?

    ......dhole

    1. oh, Donnzie, but THESPECIALIST was probably the only of his films I liked - due to those hot scenes he and Sharon shared under the shower :)
