KATE HUDSON JOINS ZACH BRAFF IN "WISH I WAS HERE" COMEDY! MIA MAESTRO & COREY STOLL IN GUILERMO DEL TORO'S "THE STRAIN" SF SHOW! "AS COOL AS I AM" TRAILER WITH JAMES MARSDEN, SARAH BOLGER, CLAIRE DANES

  KATE HUDSON JOINS
WISH I WAS HERE
Here's an interesting couple: Kate Hudson has joined Zach Braff in his WISH I WAS HERE project for which he is trying to collect enough money at Kickstarter! The two of them will play a married couple in a story about Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor who can't quite provide for his family. When his father (Mandy Patinkin) becomes ill, he reluctantly agrees to home-school his father's young children, which forces him to learn a lot about himself in the process. Jim Parsons, Anna Kendrick and Donald Faison are also in the cast.

  GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S
THE STRAIN SF SHOW

Deadline reports that FX has found lead actors for their new high concept action thriller science fiction 13 episode show THE STRAIN. Mia Maestro and Corey Stoll will star in Guillermo del Toro's story  about Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Centres for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. Mia Maestro plays Dr. Nora Martinez, who works so closely with Ephraim, they finish each other’s sentences and stumble into an affair. A brilliant biochemist, Martinez cares more about people than the diseases that threaten them, but she will soon be forced to embrace a new identity as a ruthless warrior.

'AS COOL AS I AM' TRAILER
JAMES MARSDEN, SARAH BOLGER, CLAIRE DANES
It's been a poor day in movie business, so the only trailer I have for you today is for indie drama AS COOL AS I AM with the cast which includes brilliant James Marsden, gorgeous Sarah Bolger from THE TUDORS and ONCE UPON A TIME, and Claire Danes. Ready to start its theatre life this June, the drama follows a  smart teenage girl (Bolger) who comes of age in a small town with her self-centred parents who had her when they were teenagers. So, as you can see from the trailer it's a typical drama about bad parents who are raised by their own kids.

    1. they say it's extremely graphic and that the vampires in it aren't at all romantic like the ones we've seen so far. I don't like Del Toro, so I will probably skip the show.

  3. I like your flower theme today. :) Not sure any of these projects really appeal to me, except maybe the last one.

  6. Oh my gosh...I've been following the news on "The Strain" and it's supposed to be horrific. Like the vampires are supposed to shit in each other's mouths or something like that. It's going to be really awfully grotesque which may just be absolutely the kind of thing I like since I watch "The Walking Dead." It'll be nice to get back to horrific vampires instead of the sparkling ones.

I sent you an email. Did you get it? I think we should do a post either on my blog or yours wherein we rate sexy shirtless men and give two snaps up in a circle or something like that. It'd be fun.

    1. da hell? Then me ain't watchin' it if it's that horrid :( I'm too posh and precious for such things :) I watch THE WALKING DEAD for the psychological suspense and moral dilemmas not for gore :(

    2. The following is from an article that appeared on io9 in September of 2012:

Mystery writer Chuck Hogan and monster caretaker Guillermo del Toro's vampire novel "The Strain" is getting its own series on FX! Which means we'll finally have a vampire show without dry-humping to songs by The Fray. Hooray!

Deadline broke the news that del Toro and Hogan are teaming up with Lost's Carlton Cuse. The pilot will be co-written by the authors and directed by del Toro. Cuse will work on developing the first season, which will cover the entire first book of the series. The scriptwriting begins at the end of this year, with hopes to shoot in September, right after Pacific Rim opens next July. Explains Deadline of this upcoming series:

In the opening book of the series, a Boeing 777 lands at JFK, with no communication or signs of life. Eph Goodweather, who investigates biological threats to the CDC, is called in and discovers all the passengers dead, and signs that a strange being had been aboard the vessel. Soon, he teams with ex-professor and Holocaust survivor Abraham Setrakian, who assemble a ragtag group that represents mankind's only hope when a swarm of vampires quickly turn civilization into their buffet. Fittingly for FX's male focus, unlike the traditional, romanticized portrayals of vampires as tuxedo-clad studs, The Strain is vary male-oriented with bloodsuckers who have no seductive powers - they are parasites, husks of their former human form with stingers that drain blood for nourishment, while spreading capillary worms that convert victims into more vampires under the control of The Master.

Not mentioned in this synopsis? That fact that while the vampires feed on you, they also shit their pants. Bring on the mud-bottomed beasties!

Okay so I was wrong about them taking a shit in your mouth. Instead they just crap themselves as they feed on you.

    3. oh, my, that is even worse than the vampires fingering your vagina with their regenerative blood after they bang you too hard like in that horrid TRUE BLOOD books :(

    4. Bahaahaha! Gross and funny in one thread. You guys rock. +1 :)

    5. Yep, I read all the books. But I don't recall the shitting in the pants so i think the article is wrong on that count.

I hated PAN'S LABYRINTH because they kill a kid openly in it :(

    2. I also do not like seeing children die in film. I was horrified by "The Mist" when they killed the boy at the end. I swore I'd never watch that movie ever again.

    3. yep, as a teacher, psychologist and an adult person, I will never accept the scenes in which kids are being killed in films or TV or them being portrayed as assassins or killers. PAN'S LABYRINTH kinda broke that tabboo and after that tones of films did the same and I despise it. It's abnormally dangerous and ordinary people just don't get it.

    4. They gun down Gavroche in Les Miserables, right there on film in an even more violent death than Sophia in Walking Dead. It was very shocking to say the least. At least on stage the actor just falls and you son't really see anything, but in the film he was shot like three times, gasping with each shot. It was shocking and horrifying.

    5. oh,my, that's horrible. I haven't seen LES MISERABLES and now I don't intend too!

  11. I'd love to see The Strain, the books were very tense and action-packed with lots of great drama.

Sarah Bolger is a little old to be believable as Clare Danes' daughter so I think I will pass on that one.

    1. I noticed that too: there's no way Marsden could be Sarah's father! But then again if I had a kid when I was twenty I would've had a teen kid now... now, that's a super scary thought, Melsy

  12. Me, too. I'm old enough to have a college age kid and I shudder to think what that would be like.
