FIRST "WOLVERINE" TRAILER WITH HUGH JACKMAN! TOM ELLIS IS ROBIN HOOD IN "ONCE UPON A TIME"! NEW "SIBERIA" MYSTERY SHOW! DEBRA MESSINGS IN "MOTHER'S DAY" SITCOM! FOX TO MAKE "SHOGUN" EPIC TV SERIES

Tones of TV news today, people: While ONCE UPON A TIME is getting its WONDERLAND spin-off which will be told from the perspective of Alice, the original show is still in the second season and is ready to present new faces in the cast: Digital Spy writes that dashing Tom Ellis
(who recently took the lead in NBC's GOTHICA new show) will play Robin Hood in an episode set to air later this April.

  SIBERIA TV SHOW
Another interesting new series coming to small screens next year is SIBERIA which is currently being produced by Sierra Engine Television (they're also working on NBC's pirate epic CROSSBONES with John Malkovich). 13 episode drama is set in the remote Siberian territory of Tunguska, location of the largest impact event on Earth, the massive 1908 explosion, believed to have been caused by a meteoroid or comet, which knocked down some 80 million trees over an area of 830 square miles. More than 100 years later, 16 reality show contestants descend on Tunguska unknowing of the land’s mysterious past. When a contestant is badly injured and no help arrives the contestants realize that the strange occurrences are not part of the show. With their safety threatened, competing contestants must band together in an effort to survive.

  DEBRA MESSING IN NEW SITCOM
If you are missing WILL AND GRACE and SMASH star Debra Messing, don't despair, she is coming back: Deadline reports that she will take the lead role in new sitcom MOTHER'S DAY (the title might get changed) at CBS. The comedy centres on 40-year-old Ella (Messing) who, in order to successfully navigate through the demanding life of being a mother of three, a lover, a friend and a career woman, constantly lies her way out of and into situations — little lies, big lies, white and at times not-so-white lies.

  NEW SHOGUN EPIC SHOW
According to Deadline Fox is also getting into the waters of epic TV shows! Their take on the genre will be television adaptation of SHOGUN  the best-selling novel by James Clavell! Set in the 17th century, the story is told from the perspective of British hero John Blackthorne, a sailor who rises from outsider to samurai while being used as a pawn in Japanese leader Toranaga’s struggle to reach the top of the ruling chain, or Shōgun. This will be the second adaptation of the novel, and you probably remember the classic series which starred Richard Chamberlain back in the 80s!

  WOLVERINE TRAILER
And here's your first trailer for Hugh Jackman's WOLVERINE! Beside the title character the trailer also offers the first look at Svetlana Khodchenkova playing a very villainous vixen Viper! The movie hits cinemas this July! Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

  4. Wow, Shogun again? I'm reading the novel right now, and it's quite detailed and good. And, yes, I'm old enough to have enjoyed watching the Richard Chamberlain version when it came out. In fact, I can't help picturing him as I read.

And what a gorgeous Robin Hood. :)

  5. Not quite sure I get the appeal of Wonderland. Spinning off the character of the Mad Hatter could be interesting, but only because he was cast so well in Once Upon a Time. Spinning him off just to recast him . . . well, it makes an interesting proposition somewhat risky.

Looking forward to Shogun - that's one epic novel I keep meaning to read, but have never quite gotten around to.

    1. yep, Bob, I don't get the WONDERLAND spin-off at all either. First of all Mad Hatter wasn't so interesting in ONCE UPON A TIME (I'd rather make a show out of Prince Phillip and Aurora or something like that) and ONCE has become almost unwatchable in the second season!

  6. Shogun was such a good novel. To do that right would take an enormous budget. Is Fox capable of doing this epic proper justice?

Wolverine! The Whisk should be back and forth from your page all night :)

Haven't seen Whish today, but hope Hugh might ease her ailing today :)

  8. Wolverine!!! God, this is the sexiest character Hugh has ever played. Forget Leopold...LOL

I vaguely remember the early 80's mini series. I was too little to stay up and watch it. Ah Richard Chamberlain, king of the 80's mini series.

    1. Meg Ryan made Leopold a rather forgettable film :) Such a horrid self-obsessed actress...
Chambarlaine was the star of that decade, with SHOGUN and KING SOLOMON'S MINES and QUATERMAIN....

    2. I had forgotten all about him until you mentioned him. There was another big one he was in and the name of it escapes me.

    3. Yep, you probably have in mind THE THORN BIRDS series. That one was a huge hit in Serbia too when I was a baby but it was translated as BIRDS DIE SINGING.

    4. I have to jump in and second Mel's excitement over Hugh...almost better than Austrian Sachertorte (hehehe) but not quite - cause at least I can lick my spoon as I devour my cake!!! :P :P

I look forward to seeing the 3D version.

    5. I can give you the recipe for Sachertorte, Jennzie, just ask :)

    6. Pretty please...!!

I'll give it a go and while I can't send a slice I'll send a photo of my creation.

      Thanks.... :)

    7. since you know I'm a cake baker too, here's my own recipe for Sachertorte :) Since I'm vegetarian I've kicked out eggs from the original recipe.

Mix 2 cups of butter milk (or sour cream or plain yoghurt) with 1,2 cups sugar, 0,6 cups sunflower oil, vanilla, and 100g melted chocolate. Then mix in 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of grind almonds or hazelnuts and baking powder. Pour into a greased and floured pan and bake for about 15 minutes at 200*C. It is done very quickly, so be careful. DO NOT overbake it! It has to remain soft and spongy.
When it cools down cut into two halves, and connect them with a few spoons of apricot jam. Spread apricot jam around the cake too and on top of it and them glaze it with chocolate.

    8. Okay...I've copied it down - I'll get the ingredients and surprise mumsie for Easter.

Thank you, dear Dezzie for sharing this and for inspiring me to become the baker mumsie would be proud to call her true offspring!! :)

      Now...cross your fingers!

    12. If only it would survive a mailing I'd be sending you each a piece.

The trick is to see if it even turns out...you make it sound so simple, Dezz, but hey, nothing is simple when it comes to baking for me unless my best friend Betty provides the box!

      Delete
    13. it really is extremely simple, Jennzie. Sometimes when I have lots of orders I bake ten in one afternoon, it's that easy peasy.
You just have to be careful not to overbake it! Stick a toothpick after ten minutes and after fifteen.... it should come out dry when it's done. I have a small oven and my cakes are usually done in less than 20 minutes but I'm guessing it could be different in big ovens.

      Delete
    14. What would you say if I told you my "big" oven is teensy. Here in the land of all things "way too big" I'm an exception to the rule! hahaha

      Delete
    15. I do love small ovens, they're double time quicker! Even when I have to bake two baking sheets it's quicker than one in a big oven.
