"JONATHAN STRANGE & MR NORRELL" & STEPHEN KING'S "UNDER THE DOME" TV SERIES! DANE DEHANN JOINS "THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2"! SCARY "STORAGE 24" TRAILER WITH LAURA HADDOCK, COLIN O'DONOGHUE

And the talks about the possible young actor who could take the role of Peter Parker's friend Harry Osborn in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2 are over
since it has been confirmed that Dane DeHann has won the role in the race against Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin and Alden Ehrenreich. You remember DeHann from sf sleeper hit CHRONICLE about misfit kids with strange superpowers! At the same time it has also been confirmed that Jamie Foxx will play the main villain Electro, a genius electrician who turns evil after he gets the short end of the stick from the world. Dane is also shooting dark thriller THE DEVIL'S KNOT with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, and KILL YOUR DARLINGS with Daniel Radcliffe about a murder in 1944 which draws together the great poets of the beat generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
In TV news, according to "The Hollywood Reporter" BBC has ordered a six-part fantasy mini series based on Susanna Clarke's best-selling
book JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELLThe story is set during the Napoleonic Wars in an England where magic once existed and is about to return, and the main heroes are a magician and his apprentice! In other news from the TV world, Stephen King's book UNDER THE DOME will be made into a show. CBS will make it into a 13 episode series. Scheduled for summer 2013 the story of the new show will be set in a small town that becomes sealed off from the rest of the world by a huge transparent dome, leaving its inhabitants to solve the mystery of what has happened.

STORAGE 24 TRAILER
Since apocalyptic themes are so very much trendy these days, all I have to show you today is a trailer for British sf film STORAGE 24 which comes out next
January. London is in chaos. A military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell Hughes), accompanied by best friends Mark (ONCE UPON A TIME's Captain Cook - Colin O'Donoghue) and Nikki (DA VINCI'S DEMONS' beauty Laura Haddock), are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off. Trapped in a dark maze of endless corridors, a mystery predator is hunting them one by one. In a place designed to keep things in, how do you get out?

  1. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell was such a great book! A six-part mini-series is quite appropriate for it, too. I'll look forward to that one, if it ever airs in Canada.

  3. Storage 24 looks awesome. Love Noel!

Dane Dehann, really? Good lord he's terrible and ugly to boot. Chronicle was just an incredible bore. I fell asleep trying to watch it 3 times.

    1. Ugly? Oh, Melsy, how can you say that for the blue eyed angel? :) But I haven't watched the film, don't like spoiled brats as characters :)

    2. I'm afraid this guy just does not appeal to me on any level. He looks like the Disney Peter Pan. :)

    3. me likes that :) But I know you prefer the Steven Tyler type :P

    4. You know it! Steven and Johnny Depp. Though I do have quite the thing for Norman Reedus LOL

Ah well, our tastes run opposite, but hey, variety is awesome. ;)

    5. I will have a lot of interesting and even deeply weird tidbits on Reedus in this Sunday's spotlight :)

  4. "Under the Dome" fills me with equal parts excitement and dread. It could make for a fantastic limited series, but CBS doesn't exactly have a stellar track record. In their last go-round with Stephen King, they killed off his Golden Years with 1 episode remaining, denying us a finale.

A miniseries for "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" could be interesting. I wanted to like the book, and certainly enjoyed parts of it, but I have never had a book try my patience as much as it did. If the miniseries can condense it, it might be watchable.

  7. I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, too. I just hope the miniseries does it justice. It will be interesting to see who plays the two main parts.

  8. "Storage 24" looks like an hybrid of Alien and Predator!!

fortunately, Bard is here to save them all:

  9. Storage 24 looks like a great movie that I would want to see. I agree with Sam. The creature indeed looks like a mix of Alien and Predator but it's still looks like a great flick.

As for the King mini-series, I saw the book was loosely based on Needful Things which I really enjoyed so maybe I'll give it a shot once it airs. I'm currently reading a book of his now so who knows, maybe I'll continue with King and read Under the Dome next?

    1. I'm not sure but I think it's a relatively newer work from King. One of my publishers has rights on him for my country.

  10. I'm not a big fan of Superman and I don't know who his friends or villians are. I just couldn't get into the comic as a kid.

Jonathon Strange sounds wonderful. I haven't read the book but mixing Napoleonics with fantasy is too good to miss. And after Merline being gone, I'll need the BBC to give me my magic in another form.

I doubt that I'll see Storage 24 as I'm a bit tired of the theme. But they've added the alien to it and the graphics on the beastie will be a big draw.

    1. You mean Spiderman :) I find most of the superheroes boring because they're all overly dark and morbid.
It's good to know that BBC won't leave us dry without magic :)

  11. I'm glad to hear there will be a BBC mini-series of JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL -- I often looked at the book in the bookstore but it was so friggin big I never had the nerve to try to read it.

  12. Finally some good new, lol!! I am currently in the midst of reading 'Jonathan Strange' for a second time. I read it last winter and loved it SO much. The whole time, I kept thinking it would eventually be made into something... Same thing with 'Under the Dome' - it's the perfect story for a mini-series.

  15. I wasn't impressed with chronicle; but that wasn't the actors' fault. Not well developed story concept. 24 looks good. I'm a Stephen King fan, but I'm having troubles reading Under The Dome. Starts too slow and methodical. Plus, I keep thinking the story will be the same as Desperation. My sister gave me 11/22/63 and the first few pages have gripped me; more like his original writings. I'm sure I'll watch the series though.
