CW TO MAKE "SHERWOOD" EPIC SHOW! FANTASY SAGA "THE FALSE PRINCE" FILM ADAPTATION! NEW TRAILER FOR "SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED" FINAL SEASON

Woohoo, people, good news - we shall have yet another historical show coming up to the small screens in the future. According to "The Hollywood Reporter" CW is developing Robin Hood show SHERWOOD but instead of Robin, the focus of the show will be on a female vigilante who teams up with the fictitious outlaw and his Merry Men. One hour long series, to be written by CASHMERE MAFIA's Tze Chun, will be set in 1072 in England and will depict the adventures of a noblewoman who attempts to free her wrongly-jailed boyfriend from Norman occupiers with the help of Robin of Locksley and his gang. Seeing help from the vanished Robin of Locksley, she inadvertently reunites and joins the fabled Robin Hood and his Merry Men, inspiring new hope for the oppressed people of Nottingham. This is not the only epic show CW is developing since they are also working on AMAZON series which will centre on Wonder Woman and her origins.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
The same site also reports on Paramount preparing the movie adaptation of THE FALSE PRINCE novel by Jennifer A. Nielsen, which was published this April and is a part of the ASCENDANCE fantasy trilogy.
Bryan Cogman, who is the story editor for GAME OF THRONES, will adapt this one which has story similarities with the HBO show: In a distant land, and with king, queen and crown prince murdered, a nobleman devises a plan to find someone to impersonate the king’s long-lost son and act as a puppet. An orphan finds himself chosen with three other boys in the running. But this is no mere competition - with court intrigue and political conspiracies make it a contest to the death. I wonder why are so many YA female writers writing books about kids who have to fight to the death??? Deeply bizarre, disgusting and dangerous.

SPARTACUS WAR OF THE DAMNED TRAILER
And to finish in an epic way, since Hollywood Spy is web's leading source on everything epic, fantastic and historical, here's the new trailer for SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED! The final ending season will air on Starz from January 25th starring Liam McIntyre, Manu Benett, Dan Feuerriegel, Dustin Clare,  Pana Hema
Taylor and Tod Lassance as Caesar! Gaius Claudius Glaber is dead. Many months have passed since his defeat, and the rebel army, led by Spartacus and his generals Crixus, Gannicus and Agron, continue to amass victories over Rome. With the rebel numbers swelling to
thousands of freed slaves, it has become a force that has started to challenge even the mighty armies of Rome. Spartacus is more determined than ever to bring down the entire Roman Republic. Following the death of Ashur, Naevia and Crixus fight as one with newfound strength and determination. And Gannicus, always seeking to
embrace life to the fullest, shares his bed with the beautiful and dangerous Saxa. Together, the rebels engage in one bloody skirmish after another and prepare for the inevitable: a full out war with Rome. The Roman Senate turns to its wealthiest citizen, Marcus Crassus, for aid. A powerful, strategic politician, he respects his opponent and
refuses to make the same mistakes Glaber and his predecessors have. With a young and fiercely competitive Julius Caesar as an ally, Crassus is determined to crush Spartacus and his rebellion. The epic conclusion of a legendary journey, SPARTACUS WAR OF THE DAMNED will unleash a battle unlike anything ever seen before.

  1. High hopes for both Amazon and Sherwood, but not sure CW is the right home for either. Time will tell.

    1. yep, that is what has me scared... the CW factor. They have success with ARROW and want another archer show in their programme :) But as long as it is epic.... it is fine with HOLLYWOOD SPY

  2. Oh how I love a good historic epic! I do worry about the CW taking on something that sounds really good though...

    1. we approve of everything historical, especially when we're taken back to medieval times.

  4. I hope SHERWOOD is good. I love the premise and the depiction of strong female characters in the lead.

  5. Spartacus will be cool, but I’m more excited for Sherwood to start. A few of my buddies that work with me at DISH were going to leave the CW after Smallville ended, but Arrow and Sherwood should keep them around for awhile. I’ve been saving every episode of Arrow to my DISH Hopper. And since it can store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment, I’ll have plenty of room for Sherwood, too. Cheers to new angles on familiar stories.

  6. Sherwood could be interesting, but I wonder why they set it a hundred years before Robin Hood and Merry Men existed? That's a huge strike from me before the show gets out of the gate. And rescuing her boyfriend? Really? How unoriginal. God help any man of mine who gets into trouble like that. His ass can rot while I find some other piece of meat. ;)

    1. they probably wanted to go deeper in the past for the visual reasons, I'm guessing the older the costumes, the less of the money they have to give since older costumes were simpler and less lavish. But that is just my guess :)

Oh, you is so romantic, Melsy :) God forbid for you to ever be my saviour :PPP

    2. LMAO! Yeah, I'm such a huge romantic, aren't I? Friends are whole different ball game, I'd rescue you. Boyfriends are just side pieces who can be replaced. ;P

    3. but certain pieces of theirs are just so dear to my heart (and other of my organs) that I couldn't, wouldn't possibly part with them :)))

  7. I do like the premise for Sherwood with the focus being on a female lead. Like a lot of people, I'm concerned about the CW doing it.

The False Prince is another one of those terribly written YA books looking to corner the market created by Hunger Games and that sickening Twilight series. They'll just keep churning this garbage out as long as parents buy it for their kids and then read it themselves.

    1. as long as it is epic I ain't complaining until I see the product :) But I really hope it will be good, since we've seen that epic shows tend to be bad when they are done in USA, and good only when they are done in Europe or in New Zealand.

    2. The setting is wrong and the accents are horrid. These are the people who created reality telly-it bears remembering.

    3. it is strange how American actors can't learn British accent, while British and Irish actors don't have a problem learning the US one.

  8. "I am Spartacus!" "No, I am Spartacus!"

I hope all of this Roman fixation stuff isn't a bad omen of where the U.S. is heading.

Here's wishing you a wonderful year ahead.

  9. I don't so much watch these kinds of things.

Happy 2013, can't believe how fast the year went. My gosh.

  10. Sherwood sounds interesting. The CW is about all I watch anymore in terms of standard broadcast TV. Arrow was a very surprising success, I didn't think I'd like it but it blows Smallville out of the water. Dez have you ever watched Once Upon A Time? I recently started getting into that over the TV hiatus this last month, very enjoyable show.

    1. Not only that I've watched it, but I was among the first ones back in 2011 to write about it before it started airing :)
The first season was much better than the second one which has been airing since this Fall. It is very refreshing.

    2. you have it featured in my FEATURED EPIC SHOWS segment in the right sidebar

    3. Ah, so you have! I've enjoyed the second season (caught up online). It will be interesting to see where they keep going with it.

Happy new year to you as well my friend! Have you seen the new Cheryl video I have featured on my site? :)

    4. I liked the first season because it was filled with epic and fantasy elements, but now they've pretty much turned into a crime show or something, so I probably won't be with them after the mid-season break.
I've seen it over at your place :)
