EPIC TRAILER FOR LEE BYUNG HUN'S "MASQUERADE"! PATRICK WILSON, JERRY O'CONNELL, MATT BOMER IN "SPACE STATION 76"! ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER RETURNS TO "THE LEGEND OF CONAN"!

Here's something unusual, "The Hollywood Reporter" wrote this weekend about a film which has just ended its production over in Los Angeles completely unnoticed by the media. It is a sci fi comedy SPACE STATION 76 with a rather interesting cast including Patrick Wilson, Jerry O'Connell, Liv Tyler and Matt Bomer. The comedy is set in a 1970's version of the future and centres on a group of crew members aboard a space station. Always amazing Patrick Wilson portrays the suicidal captain alongside Liv Tyler, who plays his assistant. Matthew Bomer plays a engineer with a robotic hand, who is unfortunatley married to a controlling wife (Marisa Coughlan).

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
After the rather floppish CONAN THE BARBARIAN remake with Jason Momoa, we shall return to the classic epic with a direct sequel
to the original film. Titled THE LEGEND OF CONAN, the sequel will, and this is the biggest news, have Arnold Schwarze- negger returning to the role which made him famous. The film is planned as Universal's leading movie for summer 2014. The original ended with Conan on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and the sequel will see him as the Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary and is now nearing the last cycle of his life.

MASQUERADE TRAILER
And here's something Asian for you today: a trailer for South Korean historical comedy MASQUERADE which is currently breaking box office records over in
its home country. The film brings a Prince and the Pauper story set in 17th-century Korea, with "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" star Lee Byung-hun playing dual roles: he is both the tragic King Gwanghae and the commoner who shares a fatefully remarkable resemblance to the ruler, Ha-Seon. Deeply embroiled in palace intrigue which aims to assassinate the ruler, King Gwang-Hae orders his trusted councillor Heo Kyun to find him a body double. When the King collapses from a mysterious poison, Ha-seon must carry off the biggest MASQUERADE of his career to save the country from chaos while under imminent threat of death. He will surprise all by demonstrating just leadership in the corrupt court. He will become a king that the people dreamed of, writing in fifteen
days of wise and good rule in the real king's fifteen years long history of tyranny. The film has sold 10 million tickets in South Korea in just a month, in a middle of a slow season, which is faster even than AVATAR. The film is already showing in Northern American cinemas.

    1. he's the best American actor if you ask me. Adored him in ANGELS IN AMERICA, WATCHERS, EVENING and LITTLE CHILDREN.

  2. Maybe they should call it "Conan collects his old age pension."

    1. I especially love the touching story - 15 years of tyrannical rule and 15 days of goodness when the double was on throne...

  4. Not sure the world needs a Conan remake, especially with Arnold. But it will make lots of money, I'm sure. Wonder if he'll still wear the skimpy bikini armor? :P

    1. I'm not even sure it will make money, given the fact that some of his fresher films weren't even noticed.... or at least I have that feeling :) Never understood why he ever was a star?

  5. Masquerade is a must see. First off I can see the influence of Akira Kurosawa in the cinematography and that's fabulous. And then the trailer cuts to those comedy scenes and the film work is slightly different. This looks unique and new-a historical comedy. I love the idea.

    1. yes, I was surprised with the mixed genre too, but was also touched by the warmth of the positive parts when the double decides to be a good ruler that the real king never was.

    2. Darling, I went with a different figure on my post today. I couldn't get a decent edit on any of the pics I have for your figure. I won't post it unless it's perfect. I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow.

  8. I've not seen the Jason Momoa rendition, but it'll be funny to see an aged Conan on the screen. Bring on the cheese!

    1. I wanted to like Momoa's version, but it was utterly dreadful, Rachel Nichols being the only light in it :)

  11. I think I'm about the only one that didn't mind the CONAN remake. That said, seeing Arnie back in that role will be interesting. SPACE STATION 76 sounds like a good time, too.

  12. That role must be a little disconcerting to Arnold. Last cycle of life? A Sci-fi comedy. I'm not sure I've seen anything but serious dramatic sci-fi.

  13. It makes me kind of sad to see Arnold doing Conan again. It almost tarnishes the original somehow. He should have just let it be, not it's just all about money.

  14. Universal must really be desperate if Conan with Arnold is going to be it's leading film. LOL I'll pass.

Space Station 76 sounds terrific and stars two hotties I adore plus Liv, whom I just love.
