HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT ON 23RD JAMES BOND FILM "SKYFALL" WITH DANIEL CRAIG, JUDI DENCH, RALPH FIENNES, JAVIER BARDEM, BEN WHISHAW

As you know, I'm not a fan of agent 007 films, but I know some of you are, so let us spotlight the latest instalment in the James Bond franchise titled SKYFALL, which is supposed to hit European cinemas this October and American cinemas later this November. It will be the twenty-third film in the series and the third time with Daniel Craig as James B(L)ond. You can also check out the new character banners and posters released this week by MGM Studios. Click on the pics to see them bigger.
SKYFALL STORY
After an operation in Istanbul ends in disaster, James Bond is missing and presumed to be dead, the identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the internet, and M becomes the subject of a government review over her handling of the situation. When the service itself is attacked, Bond's sudden reappearance gives M the pretext she needs to seek out Raoul Silva, a dangerous villain claiming a personal connection to both of them — but as he follows a trail from London to the South China Sea, Bond soon finds his loyalty to M challenged over secrets from her past!
SKYFALL CAST
With Daniel Craig in the lead role, the helmer this time is famous Oscar winning director Sam Mendes (he was married to Kate Winslet who hated the fact that he is close to his ex wife Rachel Weisz who is
now married to Daniel Craig). Her Cinematic Highness Judi Dench (bow immediately) appears for the seventh time as M, the head of MI6 and Bond's commanding officer. Ralph Fiennes plays Mallory, a government agent with the authority to regulate MI6. Javier Bardem
plays Raoul Silva, the main villain in the film. Ben Whishaw is the new, young Q, Bond's gadget expert. Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe play Bond girls, Eve and Severine, the first a field agent and the second a glamorous and enigmatic lady.
  SKYFALL TIDBITS
The release of the film coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Bond franchise.
The budget of the film was a whole quarter lower than the budget for the QUANTUM OF SOLACE with $150 million spent on the production. The title of the film has an emotional context which will be seen in the film.  The film will have exotic settings as well, since parts of the film were shot in China and in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul. British singer Adele is rumoured as the performer of the title song. Olivia Wilde, Rachel Weisz and Freida Pinto were all in the running for the Bond girls roles, but they in the end went to some insignificant names.

  2. You are my new best friend...three days in a row I have NOTHING to complain about! If you remember Anne's Boobies and Beefcakes post back in March? Do you remember my pick? Let's just say, I was never really a fan of the James Bond series until Mr. Craig took over the role!!

    1. I don't remember :) whom you picked, was it Daniel? :) It has become extremely difficult finding stories and topics to write about in the end of the summer season, so I'm glad somebody likes what I can find these days :))

    2. It sure was him! And I get what you mean...it's kind of a limbo kind of time...everything it's just out of reach. But like I said, I've been quite happy the past few days!

  3. I gotta admit I do enjoy the Bond films with his blondness, Daniel Craig.

But Bardem does not do the blond so well. That's a really odd look for him, though probably fitting for the film.

    2. I didn't think he could look any weirder than his No Country For Old Men bowl cut, but he's done it. :))

    3. I wonder how Penelope Cruz felt when he came home to her with that wig :) You do remember when I posted his full nude pic from his youth :) here, he looked so very different back then.

  5. My favorite Bonds are David Niven and Sean Connery. Now let's see who I can stump by asking "Who was the first Bond"

Dame Jude is the cat's whiskers-adore her!

    3. that Lazenby guy or what was his name? I've never really watched the series much, maybe a few as a kid back when Moore was Bond and one or two with Brosnan. I think the time has made the series a bit outdated, since we're no longer in Cold War times...

  9. I'm not a Bond fan, but, gotta love Daniel Craig...just gotta!

Now, on a different note...long time ago you suggested I get creative on my blog and add a background. Never one to use a template version I created my own, but alas for the longest time I could never get it to fit - well, eureka! - I finally figured out the sizing.

And...ta da, thanks to your gentle nudges I am officially "with background" (beats being "with child" as I've been there done that)

So...thanks, you are my mentor in all things bloggy!! From WV to BG I'm now in the groove!

    Hugs, Jenny

    1. that's the biggest mystery for me :) I still don't get it what ladies see in him :)

    2. Neither do I. I mean, killer body yes, but he's not actually all that good looking. But he is very, very sexy.

However, if you want both, then Ian Somerhalder is your man ;)

      imho

    3. It is probably about some ruff and harsh energy that hides in his crude facial lines, I know many ladies like bad boys and dangerous one even though they would never admit it :) Hell, most of us people like to be handled in a tough way sometimes :)))

  12. I'm not much of a Bond fan either. So I'll pass on this as well.

  13. Ya know; I love Daniel Craig; great eye candy, good actor, intriguing personality as a supporting personality; meh action hero.

I don't know why, but I don't like him as 007. The character in Casino Royale was lame, and I haven't been able to see him as the same caliber as his predecessors. I was skeptical of Pierce Brosnan, but even he made the role his own for the settings and scenarios.

Daniel Craig is not Bond in my mind, and I'm not sure he ever will be. I don't feel this a lack on Daniel Craig's skills though;; I feel the producers/writers just haven't written to his specific skills for the casting. This is one of the rare moments where I feel the casting couch has failed.

Roger Moore exemplified the role of James Bond, and Sean Connery made the role notorious. Pierce Brosnan brought it to the 20th century; but Daniel Craig seems to be trying too hard to make the "Bond" character more of a sympathetic outcast.

He is sexy enough; but the producers don't use the appeal to best advantage. The character is too conflicted, too mired in appearance and protocol. He seems to feel guilt when he steps outside the norms of British Intelligence. He's too aware of all the social implications of his actions (the character, not the actor).

Nah, this is not the actor's shortcoming; it is the writer's, producers, directors.

I will watch Daniel in ANYTHNG else, he is an excellent actor. But he is not the new Bond in my mind; at least not as portrayed. Shia Lebeouf would make a better Bond character with the substandard character plots being put out for James Bond, 007 these days.

    Just my opinion, of course.

    1. I'm with you Donnzie dearest, I just don't see Craig in this role at all, especially having in mind all the other actors who were in the run back in the days when he got the role - Henry Cavill, Dougray Scott etc. Craig has a face of a butcher and Bond was a symbol of posh elegance to me.
