Chris Evans will star in romantic film
A MANY SPLINTERED THING. Chris will also executive the film which is actually called an antiromantic comedy. In the vein of "Amelie" and "500 Days Of Summer" the film tells the story of a young man disillusioned by love who meets a breathtaking young woman (
Michelle Monaghan) at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Turns out that she’s engaged to a guy who doesn’t like her going on dates. Challenged by the chase, and egged on by his eclectic friends, he feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart. The screenplay was featured on the famous Black List of best unproduced scripts in Hollywood.

Yesterday, I wrote about Dreamworks' new animated film THE CROODS, and
now "Variety" reports of a new animated project: 20th Century Fox is
apparently planning to do a movie adaptation of graphic novel CARDBOARD
by Douglas TenNapel. The story revolves around a young boy who receives
only a cardboard box for his birthday from his widowed father. They both
turn the box into a boxer named Bill, who somehow comes to life. The
duo must protect their creation from the neighborhood bully, who has
nefarious plans. Tobey Maguire will produce and possibly lend his voice
to one of the characters, while amazing Chris Wedge, the creator of ICE
AGE, is negotiating to take the director's seat.

I love Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. Have to take them in small doses; but the trailer looks like they will be good together. I'll have to watch that one. Catching up on your posts, I'm intrigued by Atlas Shrugged too. A couple of inspirational lines in that trailer. Definitely one not to miss.

ReplyDeleteParental Guidance is going to be so funny and will come out at the perfect time. So many people are depressed during the holiday's and this will pick them right up. Billy and Bette together-stroke of genius.

DeleteOh my gosh - what a great movie Parental Guidance looks to be. I was actually giggling while I was watching the trailer. I think Crystal is a funny and talented man and I've always enjoyed Tomei. I think you're on to something though...they may be fairly close in age LOL
ReplyDeleteI was also gigggling a lot :) especially the parts with Bette :) Well, Tomei can't be younger than 50 and Billy and Bette aren't older than 60. I'm sure.
Deletehere, I checked it out, Tomei was born in 1964, Crystal in 1948 and Bette in 1945, so Tomei can only be their younger sister :)

WOW - Dezzy - just WOW. I never even paid attention to her appearance in Missing when Devin and I watched. We simply watched it. I missed the nonsense that was spread about her and I'm glad I did. How hateful and useless it all was. Women can be so horrible to each other. It breaks my heart. Correction, people can be so horrible to each other.

DeleteI love the trailer of Parental Guidance - the Billy Crystal scene at the baseball resonates as I have have frequently seen that angry parent at my kid's footy matches (fortunately without the same consequences for Billy!) - its so true - what an absolute hoot!
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about the hugely experienced Crystal and Midler is that they both can be hugely funny without over-egging it or just being gross as so many younger comedians appear to be (OK - showing my age here!) AND - unusually for Americans, they understand subtlety.
They can deliver great laughs with witty dialogue not over-the-top anal humour which in itself makes for a refreshing change.
everything you said is my own deep opinion too, Doc! You've probably noticed that HOLLYWOOD SPY doesn't cover most of the young comedians and most of the anal humour comedies....
