HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT ON NEW NBC'S SF APOCALYPTIC SHOW "REVOLUTION" SET IN THE WORLD WITHOUT ENERGY SOURCES

As you remember, a number of new shows awaits us this Autumn on TV, and since apocalyptic projects are very trendy thanks to the super popular worldwide hit drama THE WALKING DEAD which awaits its third season later this October, one of the most interesting new shows will definitely be science fiction series REVOLUTION which is ready to air September 17th at NBC in its first season set in the world without energy sources in which the Earth has gone very primeval.

REVOLUTIONARY STORY
Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky,
hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and
candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman's life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously - and unbeknownst to her - had something to do with
the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

REVOLUTIONARY CAST
From director Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) and the fertile imaginations of J.J. Abrams (“Lost,” “Person Of Interest”) and Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”), comes a surprising “what if” action-
adventure series, where an unlikely hero will lead the world out of the dark. Literally. The series stars Billy Burke (“The Horrid Twilight Saga”), Tracy Spiridakos (“Being Human”), Anna Lise Phillips (“Terra Nova”), Zak Orth (“Romeo + Juliet“), Graham Rogers
(“Memphis Beat”), J.D. Pardo (“A Cinderella Story”), Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”), David Lyons (“The Cape”), Maria Howell (“The Blind Side”), Tim Guinee (“Iron Man”) and Andrea Roth (“Rescue Me”). Kripke, Abrams, Favreau and Bryan Burk (“Lost,” “Star Trek”) serve as executive producers. REVOLUTION
is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions, Kripke Enterprises and Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Favreau.

  1. This is going to be a fantastic show. The team behind it is stellar. And Billy Burke is great even though he was in Twilight. He's done some interesting television work in shows like The Closer.

Awesome spotlight, Dez! I enjoyed every word and the trailer. Thanks. :)

    1. I'm also rather excited, Melsy, seems like something interesting for all of us who love THE WALKING DEAD. Apocalypse is so very trendy now :)
Glad you liked the spotlight, I'm preparing a number of really cool new ones!

  2. oh how I hope the don't ruin this because it sounds like a really cool concept. And I'm gonna need something to fill my void that is coming with the end of the "Falling Skies" season. And it better not suck like "Terra Nova" did. That was a major bummer.

    And I totally love your"Twilight"dig!!

    1. yes, these shows tend to have a great idea but a bad development later on :( Hope this one will be as suspenseful as THE WALKING DEAD is. I think I will download FALLING SKIES this summer, forgot to watch it last year!

I liked TERRA NOVA, but I didn't like how they made into almost a crime show instead of a scientific or adventurous one

    2. Ok, let me warn you before you start watching "Falling Skies"...the first season is VERY SLOW!! I almost gave up on it. It ends huge and this season has gotten better with every episode. Looking back, the first season was great, but at the time I was worried that it was just another Sci-Fi TV disappointment. It totally bounced back!

And the "Terra Nova" debacle...I was super excited after the first episode (especially since my son is such a dinosaur fanatic). I even still had a positive attitude after the second episode. And then yes, it was like a cop show with the threat of dinosaurs. And I stopped liking the characters. Such a waste.

      I still miss "Battlestar Gallactica"...

    3. and just to think how expensive TERRA NOVA was.... would love to see the lead actor in some new show :) He was nice.

    4. I know that the cost is why there weren't as many dinos after the pilot...and so would I!

    5. almost no dinos whatsoever if me remembers correctly :)

    7. I only remember that naughty one which got time transported to the future in the last episode where he ate the bad guy LOL

  3. Sounds like an awesome show with Favreau and Abrams involved. I need a new show to look forward too. I keep missing the beginning of other ones.

  5. oooh! This looks fantastic! Thanks for the trailer! I've been waiting impatiently to see season two of Walking Dead (Canadian with one TV channel) Hoping Netflix gets it soon.

Just went to see Bourne Legacy, and Dezzy, you may as well take a nap for the first half if you are planning on going. WAY too much explaining! Total Recal was better. Colin did a fine job.

  9. I've been seeing the trailer running for this show all through the Olympics and it just looks so bad. I like apocalyptic concepts, but the acting looks poor. The tone of the show looks way too light. Also, I'm pretty sure they only gave the protagonist a bow to capitalize on the Hunger Games making it popular.

    1. not everything needs to be extremely dark and gritty. And they're using bow because it's a world without energy sources.

  10. I think the apocalyptic scenario shows are getting a bit overused. But maybe this one will turn out good too?
