SPRAWLING TRAILER FOR SF EPIC "CLOUD ATLAS" WITH TOM HANKS, BEN WHISHAW, JIM STURGESS, HUGO WEAVING, BY MATRIX HELMERS! SF NOVEL "TIME AND AGAIN" GETS A FILM ADAPTATION!

According to "Variety" Doug Liman (THE BOURNE IDENTITY) will direct the movie adaptation of TIME AND AGAIN, an illustrated novel by Jack Finney. The story follows Manhattan illustrator Simon Morley, who partakes in a secret government experiment in the mid 20th century. The experiment transports him back to 1882 New York, where he falls in love and struggles with the decision to either go back to his original time or stay in the past with his lover. The novel has been sold in more than 200,000 copies and also has a sequel titled FROM TIME TO TIME.
CLOUD ATLAS TRAILER
And here it is, people, the clip of the day - a trailer for sf epic CLOUD ATLAS coming from the directors of the famous THE MATRIX TRILOGY  Lana and Andy WachowskI and Tom Tykwer (RUN LOLA RUN, PERFUME). The rather long and emotional trailer,
filled with lots of strange, but lovely visuals, settings and scenes, reveals a lot of the extremely complicated story which spans six storylines set at various points in time from the 19th century into the distant future. The
cast is also rather strangely combined with Tom Hanks and wimpy Halle Berry in the lead roles (not sure I can take such an extreme doze of the two of them), joined by Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Keith David, Jim Broadbent, James D'Arcy....
Based on a bestselling book by David Mitchell, the intricate and complex movie features six intertwining story lines set in different
times and places that become intricately related to each other, with actors playing roles in each time. The stories span from the 19th Century
to a post apocalyptic 22nd Century. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire
a revolution in the distant future. Even though the budget of the film was around $100 million the film has had almost no marketing so far, although the premiere is scheduled for this October. Hope Warner won't take down the clip before you see it.

    4. I can't take it away as long as that terrible Batman keeps rising in my back yard. Everyone in town keeps talking about this 'fantastic movie' in which a bat keeps speaking with a ridiculous voice as if he's been smoking cigars 24/7, meanwhile flying around some place called Gotham that is so ooooooobviously NY. Where's Tim Burton when you need him. Jack! Jack!

But the good news is... I found my shirt.

    3. Hahahaha! That is something I don't get to hear every day. Let me guess: Tom's too wrinkly and Halle can't act? Or is it their perfume?

  3. A trailer of that length which doesn't spoil the movie, that in itself is quite an achievement these days. Looks fantastic and makes me kinda glad I never got round to reading the book as I would have already known how it all turns out.

    1. yep, it is an international trailer, which are usually much better done than the ones for US audience, I reckon the US one to be released these days, won't be this long

  4. I love the idea of TIME AND AGAIN. Reminds me of one of my favorite books, BID TIME RETURN by Richard Matheson (which they turned into a movie with a young Christopher Reeve and a very young Jane Seymour (mmm...Jane Seymour) called SOMEWHERE IN TIME).

    1. yes, Seymour was nice before she became Doctor Quinn :)

  11. I found the trailer for Cloud Atlas to be moving and thought provoking. The story looks deep and rich and complex. The idea that there is a better world waiting for us somewhere is one I need right now. I think I'll like it. It is strange that WB hasn't done advance promo for something like this. We hear about big budget films 6-12 months before they are released. I wonder what is going on here.

I haven't read Time and Again and now I want to. Historical fiction is great because you don't just get the facts about what happened, you get to imagine what the people who lived in a given period felt. NY in the 1800's would be an interesting place to visit I think and the settings for the film should be interesting.

    1. it promises a very touching movie, doesn't it? I just hope that they won't make it overly confusing in philosophical way, as they did with MATRIX. Don't know if you watched that one, but I think people still don't know what that trilogy was about :)
But the message of all of us having a sort of a chain influence on each other is certainly true and appealing.

I've no idea what's with the studios this year? JOHN CARTER and CLOUD ATLAS are just some of the epics which didn't have an overly huge marketing for some reason.

  12. Cloud Atlas... can't say that rings a bell, but it looks interesting, alright. I'm just slightly worried about there being such a varied cast. Let's give them th benefit of the doubt. How are you doing, Dezz?

    1. the book is a bestseller. I do agree about the cast, it seems they had no compass while putting them all together.
I've seen better days, hope you're fine ahead of the wedding. I did send you an e-mail some time ago, but you didn't get it or answer it.

    2. I didn't get the email or I sure would've answered ... and put it in a gold picture frame! Do you still have it somewhere, Dezz? You've seen better days... that doesn't sound too good, my friend.

  13. Cloud Atlas looks okay...I will see the trailer first. i don't mind hanks and Berry at all...well Tom Hanks used to be my number one actor in acting ability (Got pushed away now by Cillian ). The rest of the cast are interesting....Jim Sturgess can be a nice eye candy ;)
