MAN OF STEEL STORY
Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a

SUPERMAN TIDBITS
The budget of the film is somewhere around $175. million! Darren Aronofsky and Ben Affleck were the first choices for the helmer of
the film before Zack Snyder took over the job by quitting the director's job on 300 prequel BATTLE OF ARTEMISIA. The list of actresses who were in the run for Lois Lane part before Amy Adams took it includes Anne Hathaway, Dianna Agron, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman.... The list of the handsome actors who were in the run for the Superman role before Henry Cavill took it is even longer and includes Matthew Goode who worked with the director on WATCHMEN, TRUE BLOOD hunk Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Armie Hammer and even Zac Efron.
Julianne Moore and Jodie Foster were in the run for Martha Kent role. For a very long time Viggo Mortensen was planned for the role of General Zod. Henry Cavill will be the first British actor to play Superman in history.

Can't say I've ever been a huge Superman fan. He's just too dull as a character I always found. I'll watch it probably and it surely sounds better than the last three at least. Geez you do know the famous folks, or are just pretending haha Prob really R that tweeted you or something. And Anne pffft.
ReplyDeletehe is a bit dull, but he and the Flash are the only superheros I like since they are both good boys and there's no morbid darkness around them. They are truly inspiring for young kids, unlike that horrid Batman whose stories inspire.... well, you've seen it this weekend.

DeleteThat horrible thing didn't happen at ICE AGE, nor at SHREK nor at JOHN CARTER. It happened at the screening of a morbidly dark movie, with extremely dark and sick characters and all that done to entertain. The responsibility is there, and no one can deny it. Violence inspires violence and if you chose to use violence in entertaining purposes you will end up with things like this. The world has become way too irresponsible.
I didn't call you dumb, meant the idea that a movie made the nut job shoot people is dumb. The movie may be the trigger that finally makes these whacko's snap, but they are whacko or are fecked up to begin with from something in life, the movie, game or whatever else people try to blame didn't cause the crack pot to pick up the gun, the idea is already there and if it wasn't the movie it would be the mailman, the bills or something else. when they snap there is no rhyme or reason to what makes them snap, it just becomes a media firestorm more because they like to blame the movie, when it was just the nut job all along.

DeleteI prefer the Kevin Costner/Jonathan Kent voiceover more than the Russell Crowe/Jor-El voiceover. Great choice to put this one up.

DeleteI think Cavill is a good choice for this Superman and I did grow up reading the comics, so I'm particular about what I like in this genre.
ReplyDeleteIt was so lovely for Daniel to have sent you a Thank You for last Sundays post. You've met such a wide variety of actors and actesses through your work and most of them end up being quite charming people. It's nice to know that not all celebreties are are difficult people.
yep, there are the nice ones out there, Annzie :) I know HOLLYWOOD SPY is a small site, but I always knew my mission will be to give actors a support at the beginning of their career. Daniel told me this was the first post about him and I was very happy and honoured to hear it. You've seen how many young actors I wrote about spreading the word about them and I'm extremely happy whenever some of them get big projects later on.
DeleteQuite a few of them have gone on to become quite popular darling. I imagine it is nice to meet them when they are just starting out and still full of excitement about the opportunity to work.

DeleteI don't like Superman either but I liked Henry in Immortals so I'll give it a shot. Plus, he actually makes the suit look good. He got a lot buffer since I last saw him. I always envy how easy it is for them to get so muscular so fast. It took me years to develop my body and I'm still working on it. Geesh.
ReplyDeleteyep, but don't forget that they have teams of trainers and experts who work with them on achieving the look by sticking to harsh army discipline and who knows what kind of substances .... I've been doing a hundred of situps every day for ten years now and will never have abs like him :)

ReplyDeleteI think I may be the only person who won't be seeing anymore super hero movies. I'm tired of them. I guess I feel the same way about super heroes the way others feel about zombies - they are overdone.

DeleteNope, you're not the only one, I like superheroes, but the films about them are just plain horrid and morbid and ebil. Instead of fighting for light, all of them seem to be promoting darkness and violence.

DeleteLike you said a year ago... shit happens, right? I was there when Superman (I) hit the movie theaters. I was, what, 7 or eight, and when the score kicked in ever so slowly, I just knew I was in for a special ride. I guess I can't give this new one a fair chance, I have to be honest with you. Today I saw the latest Batman and the same thing happened. Why can't I switch off my brain and enjoy the new show?
DeleteI've never been much of a Supes fan, but I'll definitely give Man of Steel a go. After both Avengers and Dark Knights Rises though, it's a hell of a tough act to follow.
