HENRY CAVILL & BENJAMIN WALKER IN "THE GREAT WALL" EPIC MYSTERY! ABBIE CORNISH & SAMUEL L. JACKSON JOIN JOEL KINNAMAN & GARY OLDMAN IN "ROBOCOP"! ACTION EPIC ON SIR ISAAC NEWTON?

You know that HOLLYWOOD SPY was one of the very first sites to support and promote amazing British star Henry Cavill even before he got his big gigs in IMMORTALS and MAN OF STEEL, so one of our most anticipated
future projects is THE GREAT WALL. Henry has gotten the role in this film last year, but now "Collider" reports that Benjamin Walker (ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER) has taken the second lead role beating Alexander Skarsgard (TRUE BLOOD) to it (I personally think Alexander would've been a better choice). The period pic explores “the mysteries” behind the construction of The Great Wall in China, and apparently involves some inhuman element that the builders of the wall are trying to keep out. Cavill and Walker will play 15th century British soldiers who stumble upon the construction of the wall,
and presumably get caught up in the havoc that this supernatural presence brings. The film is being helmed by famous Edward Zwick (LEGENDS OF THE FALL, THE LAST SAMURAI).

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
You already know that TV star Joel Kinnaman (THE KILLING) will play the lead role in the remake of the famous ROBOCOP film from the 80's and Gary Oldman will play the scientist who creates the enhanced robot version of an ordinary cop. According to latest news,
Samuel L. Jackson is now in talks to take the role of a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world while Abbie Cornish could take the role of Kinnaman's wife who thinks she is a widow and doesn't know he was turned into a ROBOCOP. The shooting should start this September.

According to "Collider" producers Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious") and Gene Kirkwood ("Rocky") are looking to turn the life of Sir ISAAC NEWTON into an action film for the new studio BiteSize
Entertainment, which was unveiled during the Cannes Film Festival this year. Although we mostly know the famous scientist for his work describing universal gravitation and the three laws of motion (and apocryphally as the man who had an apple fall on his head that lead to these discoveries), a less known fact about Sir Isaac Newton is that he worked both as chief detective and head of the British Mint, a position the famous scientist held for the last 30 years of his life. The film will turn the famous 17th century mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian into an action warrior.

    2. But, of course, that doesn't make us feel old at all, right, Dezzmeister? Anyway, I don't mind remakes of flops, but why redo a movie like Robocop? What's next... Dirty Harry, Rambo, Rocky, The Terminator? Doesn't anybody in Hollywood Lalaland have a brain to come up with new and original ideas? Sigh. Where's my milk?

    3. new ideas are too expensive and too risky and the audience too stupid to accept something more intelligent :(

  3. Isaac Newton, action hero? My Gawd, is nothing sacred?

  4. And now I am sad =(

They took away a role from my hunk, Alexander, that's just terrible! Luckily, I'll be watching True Blood tonight, so I'll have my fill of him for the next few weeks - okay, happy again =)

Robocop!! Yea!!! I don't mind remakes as much as everyone else seems to be bothered by them. Although, I suppose if they started to remake the classics, then I'd have a huge problem...

  5. Isaac Newton as an action film? Hmmm there is an original idea I suppose. The aliens built the pyramids, so they may as well be blamed for the great wall too. Robocop pffft, friggin remakes, Jackson sure does get around though. Does he even have a life?..haha

    2. Hmmm not so sure that is the best mixture.

    1. I wonder when they will do something similar with Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla?

    2. They did include him in the movie "The Prestige" briefly but he wasn't an action star. Would be cool to see a movie/documentary starring him.

    3. I did have a piece of news a year or two ago on a Tesla film planned by a Serbian actor/producer which was supposed to star Nicolas Cage and some other stars.

  12. Henry Cavill is a prime example of how well you know upcoming talent. I'm telling you,you need to be casting films and TV shows.

The Great Wall sound intriguing as does the epic about Sir Isaac Newton. Looking forward to more updates here.

Hope you had a great weekend, my friend.

  16. Isaac Newton as an action hero, I would never have come up with that one and maybe they shouldn't have either, but we'll see.

Tesla could be done as a superhero with the superpower of electromagnetism. Able to image brains with his eyes alone! In Hollywood anything is possible.

Sent you a couple of emails luv.

  21. Robocop is one movie that I love but could use an update, so I am for it.

But the Sir Isaac Newton flick boggles my mind. Could be good, or could be a complete bomb.
