It seems we shall have a fantasy day at HOLLYWOOD SPY today, people. According to "The Hollywood Reporter",
Martin Helgeland, the son of famous
screenwriter
Brian Helgeland, has sold his fantasy script for a movie called
SLAYER to Legendary Pictures. The story is set in modern day, and centres on a doctor whose father recently passed away. He discovers that his estranged dad was actually a slayer of dragons and other evil creatures, and comes to learn that he must also become a slayer. Martin's bigshot daddy will off course produce the flick.

And to finish in sf tone, here's a rather dynamic and action packed trailer for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA prequel titled
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD AND CHROME a pilot for a spin-off TV series which
should air sometime this year at SyFy. The story takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20's and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet... the Galactica. After CAPRICA I'm a little wary of anymore spin offs.

I hear you, sister, I tried watching BATTLESTAR and just couldn't get all the borefest :) But this does seem to be a different one, and I liked the trailer, it seems it will be more action and less religious and psychological rubbish.

DeleteIMDB says 2013 for the release of Blood & Chrome...I am looking forward to it as I was a huge fan of BSG and still am. This has some good Canadian talent in it, too...Looks like it might be filmed in Vancouver judging by the cast selections. I recognize several of the actors from Cold Squad and Mike Dopud was in SGU. He's a really underrated (and totally hot!) Canadian actor.
ReplyDeletenobody knows currently when it will be aired. Maybe even never :( if the pilot gets cancelled. The pilot was shot in Canada last month :)
DeleteCaprica was trash and while Battlestar had it's moments it was way way way too slow. I can only here the ship is going to break so many times before I want the stupid thing to blow to pieces already. I hold little hope for this prequel thingy as for one, we know how it ends and two syfy will cancel it anyway.
ReplyDeleteit's true, Cat, Caprica was a synonym for boredom, as was Battlestar and Star Gate shows too. I hate it when they ruin my sf shows.

DeleteI loved only the original movie :) It was the first and the only Western movie we were able to see in our cinemas back at the beginning of the 90's when USA and teh West put embargo on us causing hunger and poverty. Cinemas were closed and they even took Disney from our kids, but for some reason STARGATE was played in cinemas :)

DeleteI never could get into Battlestar Galactica and because it was SciFi I tried, but no go. I think the Red Star is going to be a big one when it comes out because there is a huge fan base waiting for this and with the technology available today, they can really make this work.

DeleteI'm hoping to catch up on the first season of Game of Thrones soon. I'm not in any rush since I don't get HBO and will just have to wait for season 2 unless I bootleg it.
