lifeless world. The cast also includes James Franco's brother Dave Franco who will play Teresa Palmer's boyfriend the leader of humans who are fighting against zombies, while John Malkovitch will play a general who wants to eradicate all zombies. Similar to Nicholas Hoult, popular comedian Rob Corddry will be one of the good zombies. The film is directed by 50/50 director Jonathan Levine.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
And I have two crazy pieces of news for you today: Jim Carrey's BRUCE ALMIGHTY is getting a sequel, and if that isn't funny enough for you POLICE ACADEMY is getting a remake, leaving BACK TO THE FUTURE probably the only 80's hit to be left to rest in peace. In the meantime, HANSEL AND GRETEL with Jeremy Renner and
Gemma Arterton are moved from this summer to January 2013, which is a really bad sign since only the worst of movies get their slots in January, while AVATAR 2 has been pushed all the way to 2016 when we will be all grey and retired. According to "THR" Rob Marshall,
who gave us three visually beautiful, but totally cold and soulless films MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and CHICAGO is doing a new musical film: he will helm Disney's INTO THE WOODS, which incorporates several fairy tale characters such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood with the story of a baker who attempts to start a family with his wife.

Are you ready for Monday's premiere of J.J. Abram's long awaited and super suspenseful new TV show ALCATRAZ which is happening at Fox next week? This chilling new thriller centers on America's most infamous prison and one-time home to the nation's most notorious murderers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves. But the frightening twist is that a group of Alcatraz inmates and staff that mysteriously vanished from the prison in the 1960s never to be found, suddenly start reappearing in modern times looking young and not aged at all ... and those are all nations most dangerous criminals. The show will follow a group of agents and detectives lead by Sam Neill who are trying to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events!
Been waiting for Alcatraz. I've already cleared the evening.
ReplyDeleteHope nothing ties your personaly to ALCATRAZ, Mary :))
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz looks super good. I just hope they give us answers and that it won't turn into another LOST... or Flash Forward.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be some very deep mystery probably with no solution until the very shocking end or something
ReplyDeleteLOL that avatar picture looks like a MR. Bean avatar. Psh and warm bodies just looks like twilight....
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about Alcatraz. I hardly watch any television, but I'm going to tune in for this.
ReplyDeleteAnd I still laugh at "an existentially tortured zombie". Ha! Love it.
@Baur
ReplyDeleteno big news today, so I had to make people laugh with the Bean Navii :)
@Luanne
it's a great line, isn't it? :) The promo slogans for the film are filled with such witty remarks :)
You've made me hungry for beet soup...that sounds fabulous!!!!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear it, Lizzy dearest :) just don't add too much water, just enough to cover the beets and parsnips :) It gives you such a healthy feeling when you eat it, you know it's full of vitamines and iron and all the things good for you ;) And it has to be pured with a stick mixer to get that thick creamy soup.
ReplyDeleteWasn't EVAN ALMIGHTY the sequel to BRUCE ALMIGHTY? I know people rag on POLICE ACADEMY, but it was funny and campy and perfect the way it was then. INTO THE WOODS is one of my favorite stage musicals, so hopefully this will be a good movie version. Considering the shit casting they've done with most of LES MIS, I'm not hopeful. I hope HANSEL & GRETEL turns out well. And $5 says Rob Corddry bites it in WARM BODIES.
ReplyDeleteoh, Lord Almighty, there's was EVAN ALMIGHTY? :)
ReplyDeletePOLICE ACADEMY was good then, but we don't need a remake, do we? Corddry is such a darling, isn't he?
OMG I'm glad you reminded me about Alcatraz!! Setting the DVR now! I just visited Alcatraz in San Fran in November and it was fascinating! Looking forward to this show!
ReplyDeleteAnd a zombie as a love interest??? I think this is truly a sign they're running out of movie material. LOL
and OMG that IS Mr. Bean, isn't it?!?! BAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteI love Sam Neill. Jurassic Park shall always live on
ReplyDeleteWeird Interesting News
LOL
ReplyDeleteMr Bean!!
Warm bodies sounds like a refreshing take on the I zombie flick. And I wish mr. Bean was in avatar 2.
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz looks cool as does Warm Bodies. They can keep Avatar 2. I couldn't stand the first one. ;)
ReplyDeleteSurely we have had enough ZOMBIE movies now? That looks awful!!
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz though looks right up my street, I will add it to my schedule
Warm Bodies for me, hopefully well done as the story sounds great...
ReplyDelete@Kristin
ReplyDeletezombies are the new vampires, and after that we shall have mutants... teen mutants especially.
Yep, it is Bean Navii ;)
@Speakers
hope he will be good in the new show :)
@Interwebs
ReplyDeleteI had to make people laugh a bit today :)
@Jamie
I also wish Bean would get the lead role in AVATAR 2, it would be such a blast!
@Melsy
ReplyDeleteyep, the first one was beautiful visually, but toally mediocre when it comes to the story and acting especially. I don't really get its overwhelming success
@Scott
surely we have had enough of CRIME PROCEDURAL shows now? :) ACALTRAZ looks like one.
@Lurk
glad you like WARM BODIES, Lurk!
WTF is this?!?! Zombie meets girl, Zombie falls in love with girl, Zombie suddenly is not a mindless flesh eating Zombie anymore?? i think im going to puke then watch all the evil deads back to back to forget i read that might exist.
ReplyDeleteNice blog man! very entertaining. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteZap, it is just a proof how much zombies love us ... well at least our brains :) I think you might like this one since it will be done with a humor not like a drama, at least I hope so...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Blaza :) Welcome to HOLLYWOOD SPY!
ReplyDeleteZombie Twilight hmm :D Interesting!
ReplyDeleteoh, don't mention TWILIGHT, hope this won't be like that :)
DeleteMy reactions: cool, hum, really? neat, meh, and we'll see. ;)
ReplyDeleteDid you see the new reply feature?
Deleteoh, I have, they've added it yesterday, I think, hope it stays :)
DeleteLOL :)
DeleteZombies with brain power - that's novel. Not too fussed about waiting for Avatar2, but LOVE the goofy expression on that picture. Alcatraz looks worth the watching.
ReplyDeleteNice round up, Dez.
glad you like the round up today, Michael, it is a very slow week when it comes to film news :(
DeleteI'm hoping Warm Bodies will turn out good, as the trailer for Jack the Giant Killer left me underwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteNicholas was given such a horrid hairdo in GIANT KILLER :(
DeleteHis hairdo wasn't the problem i had with the trailer. The trailer as a whole just didn't get me excited for the movie like say the trailer for the Huntsmen movie.
Deleteand plus the films has had almost zero marketing so far, so it doesn't have a bright future. I will watch it though, love the genre and the cast. But I'm skipping HUNTSMAN
DeleteCan't stop looking at Mr. Bean.
ReplyDeletehe he it was made to hypnotize you ;)
DeleteDo we want to cast bets if BACK TO THE FUTURE will be left in peace?
ReplyDeleteah, no, thanks, nothing is sure or sacred in Hollywood :)
DeleteI almost forgot about Alcatraz! Thanks for the reminder Dezzy, I'll be sure to tune in this coming Monday. I actually blogged about it over 6 months ago, glad it's finally here.
ReplyDeleteyou mean you finally bought a TV :)))
DeleteNot really into zombie flicks but the Alcatraz story has always intrigued me so I might start watching.
ReplyDeleteit might be interesting to you, since you love crime things :)
Deleteok. it is SO wrong that they made nicholaus hoult look better in warm bodies than he does in jack the giant killer. just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteI know, I know :) Hot as a zombie, and weird as a prince :)
DeleteHA! IE take that, switched over to Firefox and now I can see, such glee..haha
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz might be good, but I'll wait to see if it lasts more than a season first. A police academy remake, I hate remakes in every way, but it can't be much worse the Police Academy 7.
yeepee! Why on Earth were you still using IE in the first place, Pat? :)) Glee indeed :)
