SHOCKING NEWS: ANDY WHITFIELD FROM "SPARTACUS" DIED THIS MORNING IN SYDNEY!

Bad, bad, bad news today, people. I'm extremely sad to inform you that Andy Whitfield has died last night :(( Wonderfully charismatic, stunningly handsome star of SPARTACUS BLOOD
AND SAND
who always seemed so warm, kind and polite has died from cancer in Sydney this morning in the arms of his loving wife as "Daily Mai"l reports.
As you know, talented young New Zealand actor was diagnosed with stage 1 of the disease in March 2010, but was declared cancer-free two months later after beginning treatment immediately in New Zealand. It was thought that he would then resume the shooting of the second season of SPARTACUS show, which became a worldwide hit in its premiere season, but the cancer returned later on and Andy had to continue with a more aggressive
treatment. He left the show then and was replaced by a new actor.
HOLLYWOOD SPY shall remember his shinning talent and his brilliant charisma.Such a sad loss of a very young man! He was just 39!

  6. If one has to die, best to die with some kind of legacy you can be proud of. Spartacus - Blood and Sand was one of THE great seasons of television I have seen in my life. It showed that creators can use cable television to push the boundaries of what can't be shown on public TV. This show was high concept but they went more than FULL retard on the execution. Sex, blood, death, hatred, loyalty, friendship, more death and the use of the word 'cock' more times than any single hour of televsion ever. I loved every purile moment of it and my enjoyment was anchored by Whitfield's amazing performance as Spartacus. It will be he and not Kirk Douglas that I think of when I think of that character. He brought ennui to a whole new level. And that is why his final scream of rage was so satisfying to watch. I know he's not going to heaven. Heroes go to Valhalla.

  7. the show also had the most amazing plot, twists and dialogues and above all the most amazing chemistry between actors. It also had the charisma of Andy, and as you said, Cal, I will also now associate Spartacus with him, not with Douglas or anyone else.

  9. Really sad news about Andy Whitfield. Scary to know that such an amazingly fit man him could develop a fatal disease like non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Just goes to show how unpredictable life can be.

  18. yes, we really didn't have much time to enjoy Andy's presence on the small screens :( Just one short season.
I also forgot to mention in the post that he and his wife have two little kids, which makes it even sadder :(
