JAMES MCAVOY IS HOLLYWOOD SPY'S BEST SCOTTISH ACTOR FOLLOWED BY EWAN MCGREGOR. NEW POLL: WHO SHOULD BE 2012 OSCARS HOST?

 Well, HOLLYWOOD SPY's THE BEST SCOTTISH STAR poll is over and we were the witnesses of the power of James McAvoy's fans (called the McAvoyeurs) who left stunning 216
votes (62%) proclaiming him the proud winner. He left Ewan McGregor (19%), Gerard Butler (8%) and Robert Carlyle (7%) behind him.

The young star from the British Isles, James McAvoy really is a rising shinning gem in Hollywood. Who wouldn't love him with all of his talent, charisma, peaceful presence and modesty. Admit that you just loved him in NARNIA, that he was the only amazing thing in ATONEMENT, that you believed him in DUNE and wanted to
worship the Muad'Dib, that he took your heart away in PENELOPE and that you loved the x in his Professor X in X-MEN FIRST CLASS. That you wanted him in WANTED, that you wished to catch a ride with him at THE LAST STATION,
that he was rather becoming in BECOMING JANE, and that you wanted to join the army when you saw him in BAND OF BROTHERS :)

In the future he will land his voice in ARTHUR CHRISTMAS, he will be a detective in WELCOME TO THE PUNCH, then he will play a junkie cop in FILTH and then an art heist expert in TRANCE. He really deserves some bigger roles in Hollywood. His wife is also a famous British actress Anne Marie Duff (brilliant as queen Elizabeth in amazing THE VIRGIN QUEEN mini series), he is an ex-roommate and great friend with Jesse Spencer (HOUSE),  he
wanted to be a priest as a kid...

Now let us move to our new poll - WHO SHOULD BE 2011 OSCARS HOST? You already know that Eddie Murphy has got the job, but beside him, for which of the following candidates would you also vote: Ben Stiller, Justin Timberlake, Sandra Bullock, Neil Patrick Harris, Betty White, Tim Allen, Robin Williams or Dame Edna? I reckon all of them have enough charm, wit and sense of humor to appear as hosts in the Kodak Theatre.

  1. I am looking forward to Eddie Murphy as Oscars host. He's had some bad movies, but his funny movies are hilarious. I'm interested to see how he does.
    My second choice would be Ben Stiller though. Neil Patrick Harris third.

  2. yep, although slightly crazy, Eddie can be really hilarious at times. I just hope that he will not bring rudeness to Oscars. I wouldn't mind seeing him in different masks and costumes though since he likes doing that

  3. Neil P. Harris of course =)

    Congrats to McAvoy! I'm sure he'll be rewarded as much as he deserves soon.

  4. Neil Patrick would've been a great host elegant and charming as he is!

  5. NPH does a great job with the Tony Awards and could really pull off the Oscars, too. Although, Dame Edna would make it amazingly fun to watch.

  6. I vote for Dame Edna! Never going to happen, but wouldn't it be cheeky fun?

  7. I'm okay with the McAvoy people throwing their weight around this time. :) He's a great choice.

    I'd probably go with Ben Stiller as host for the Oscars. The guy makes me laugh, but Eddie Murphy might do alright.

    I agree, I watched Neil host one of the awards, I don't which ones, and he was natural, elegant and refined. Loved it. Dame Edna would be a total blast :) Just imagine her outfits ... not to mention her "posh" ways and her royal accent :))

    @Debra
    that is what I was going for :) - I know it would never happen, but wouldn't it be a total fun? :)

  9. I'm ok with it too, hope some of them will appear here to share the of his victory with us :)
    Ben Stiller can be really funny sometimes, when he is not going too far with poop, sperm and fart jokes :)

  10. Hi again! Thanks for your comments.

    I think that black eyebrows were necessary to embody Liz Taylor ;-) But you're right, in general she's better with red or blond eyebrows.
    Do you know Myrath? I really love their music, which is more and more oriental. People say they're just copying Symphony X, but I think that little by little they are finding their own identity.

    Have a good day!

  11. @Lurk
    he would be my natural choice too. He was pretty much born for the job!

    @Lucinda
    No, I've never heard of Myrath before. I thought it is some ethnic oriental music? Is it an unusual rock band?

  12. Great tribute to James McAvoy... and yes to all of that! He's one of my favorite actors right now.

  13. @Dezmond: They are Tunisian ;-)
    They are no rock, but definitely oriental progressive Metal ^^

    Please listen to them when you have time and tell me what you think!

    Cheers!

  14. Will I sound weird if I said I have never seen James McAvoy? Never been Narnia fans and still looking for atonement but to watch Cumberbatch instead of him. Well congrats to him anyway...whoever he is ;)

    Ah...I thought it's time for Irish actors :(

    For this oscar vote...of course my vote goes to the loveliest person of all, ms. Sandra BullockWill I sound weird if I said I have never seen James McAvoy? 16. I'll always picture McAvoy as Mister Tumnus. Which sort of typecasts him for me.

  17. @Doralynn
    glad you liked it, Doralynn :)

    @Novia
    it's weird you haven't heard of him, given the fact that he is Cumberbatch's best friend in private life :)

    @DWei
    vote for them

    @MAtthew
    who is Mr. Tumnus?

  18. James McAvoy looks like a drowned weasel.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well, if that's what drowned weasels look like I gotta get wet immediately :)

  20. I'd pick Robin Williams for the Oscars.
    Love that first pic of James McAvoy

  21. Now you should start a war between the Richard Armitage fans and the James McAvoy fans. A poll who's better, Richard or James? ;)

    I absolutely had to give my vote to Gerry. He's the sexiest thing Scotland's produced since Sean Connery.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh and I forgot...Neil Patrick gets my Oscar vote. I think he's so charming and adorable. Plus he's a great ad-libber.:)

    ReplyDelete
  23. McAvoy would lose, Dicky's fans are really committed, and sometimes even obsessive :) But mostly some very dear ladies.
    Neil would probably rock the Oscars!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @DEZMOND -- LOL! I'm committed all right! (Or should be!) But what I was going to say was that I really like James McAvoy (and love the way you mentioned him in all those movies!) He was very becoming in Becoming Jane and I did want to catch a ride with him in The Last Train! But didn't you forget The Last King of Scotland? And.... He played a modern MacBeth against Richard Armitage's MacDuff in The Shakespeare Retold version of the play. And "Dicky" (as you say) really slew him too! Hah! :)

  25. Good for McAvoy, even though he beats my Gerry Berry, at least he makes the top 3. Now if you could invite all three of those Scots to your Hollywood Spy party, I'd be the first to arrive, Dezzy :D

    ReplyDelete
  26. NPH would be great; I vote for Sandra she can do her snort n' chuckle. Maybe her and Betty White together ;D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Excellent choice on McAvoy. He did a damn good Charles Xavier :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Phylly
    glad you liked the post :) I haven't watched THE LAST KING because it stars that horrid black actor whom I find extremely irritating :)

    @Flixy
    I know you would, Flixy, you'd probably arrive before me ;P

    @Ella
    they would be a nice mix!

    @Jamie
    he is always good

    ReplyDelete
  29. Aha...Dezzy darling...I like Benedict but that doesn't mean I like his friends ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sandra Bullock or Robin Williams as far as I'm concerned, but I can live with Eddie Murphy doing the job.

    (I probably won't watch the show anyway. ;-) )

    ReplyDelete
  31. yep, it's getting more and more boring watching the Oscars :(

    ReplyDelete
  32. Robin Williams for me:)
    I really like James McAvoy(very talented and georgeus)
    So...you don't know who is Mr.Tumnus?
    Anyway-ILOVETHORIN!

    ReplyDelete
  33. nope, no idea who Tumnus is?
    Who is he?
