HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHTS: "REAL STEEL" WITH HUGH JACKMAN, EVANGELINE LILLY AND KEVIN DURAND READY TO PREMIERE IN CINEMAS THIS OCTOBER!

 After the rather boring September, October is slowly bringing back big blockbusters into cinemas, and one of them will certainly be Hugh Jackman's REAL STEEL spectacular new sf adventure set in the world of futuristic robot boxing and fighting. The film opens in cinemas October 7th.

REAL STEEL STORY
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, REAL STEEL stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall
steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo)to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback. Together they will try to make a champion out of a discarded robot.
REAL STEEL CAST
This is sort of a comeback for super charming and ultra talented Hugh Jackman, who didn't really have any films ever since AUSTRALIA in 2008, although he did have smaller roles this summer in BUTTER and in SNOWFLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN. As you know, ahead of him he has roles in WOLVERINE, LES MISERABLES and in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH. Other REAL STEEL cast members include gorgeous Evangeline Lilly (from LOST, who is also playing an Elven girl in THE HOBBIT), action star Kevin Durand (LOST, I AM NUMBER FOUR, LEGION), and rising African
American hunk Anthony Mackie (THE HURT LOCKER, THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU).
REAL STEEL TIDBITS
The film is directed by Shawn Levy who helmed NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM,  DATE NIGHT and is currently on the verge of getting some big projects in Hollywood. The movie apparently
cost somewhere around $80 million. The catchy tagline of the film is - courage is stronger than steel! For young, 12 year old Dakota Goyo, who plays Hugh Jackman's son in the film, this is actually a second huge blockbuster role this year: earlier this spring he played young Thor in THOR. The story on which the film is based, STEEL by Richard Matheson, is actually set in a dystopian world, but the film is set in modern America. DreamWorks has already started work on the sequel to the film. Stunning Olga Fonda will play a Russian owner of one of the champion robots in the film.

  9. At first I was kind of 'meh' about Real Steel, but after seeing a few of the trailers I'm quite excited about it.

    @DWei
    it is really interesting, better watching robots fight than people.

    it was the same with me! Sometimes trailers can charm us away better than the idea of the film itself

    @Clarissa
    I also hate boxing and all fighting sports, but I reckon it's better watching robots fight than humans. I'll watch this one mostly for Hugh Jackman.

  14. Sorry man, but this movie looks pretty crap to me. It looks like such a schmaltzy and saccharine H'wood confection imbued with silly effects. More than that, REAL STEEL, to me, looks completely soulless.

  15. well, I myself don't like the films which support fighting of any kind, but I wouldn't call it soulless since it is inspiring in the way that it promotes a faith in oneself and it also promotes the inspiring love between sons and fathers :) It also inspires the idea of underdogs being able to become champions.

  17. Yummy Hugh...I’m so looking forward to this movie. I’m a huge fan of all things robotic and having Hugh in on the action just makes it a small slice of heaven!

    Oh...Inge finally finished Samantha’s book...it’s in my grubby little hands and as soon as I press send on this comment I’m closing my laptop and opening her book! Yay!

    Inge has kept me in suspense and she has given me no clue other than to say, “Ja, it vill be a goot adventure for you...und dat’s all I say.” She’s such a sweet, loveable little gem of a mother (argh...wringing of hands…)

    Until later, Jenny

  19. Dezz - Page 35 and counting...oh goodness, it's riveting!

    Back to the book...and yes, I'm craving eggs (which I'm pretty good at whipping up into some delicious concoction) - but I don't want to take the time...so it's cheese and crackers! (yes, they'll do for now)

    Smiles coming your way,
    Jenny

  20. page 35, that means you've already delved into history :) but a sad history :(
    And you smelled and tasted Max's eggs :)

  21. I actually read this movie was unexpectedly very good. I say Hugh Jackman... :D LOL!

  22. Sorry Dezzy, but I'm actually gonna side w/ Dirty.. er Julian in that I'm not interested in this at all. I'd rather see Hugh in Le Miz or something without robots in it :)

  23. Dezz - the intrigue, the mystery, the characters, the history...ahh...the web is woven and I am in the clutches of a spider licking its lips...if only Max was here to whip up some eggs.

    Cheers,
    Inge's favourite daughter...Chainy!
