1ST TEASER FOR MERYL STREEP'S "THE IRON LADY"! DWARF PICTURES FROM "THE HOBBIT"! GREEK GODS IN "GODS BEHAVING BADLY" WITH CHRISTOPHER WALKEN, SHARON STONE & ALICIA SILVERSTONE

Well, this is certainly interesting: according to "MovieWeb" next year we shall watch GODS BEHAVING BADLY, a comedy about a young couple (Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss Bachrach) who encounter a full panoply of gods living in a New York brownstone. A whole bunch of forgotten stars will play Gods: Christopher Walken will play Zeus, the king of the gods, John Turturro will play god of the underworld Hades, Sharon Stone is Aphrodite, Oliver Platt is Apollo, Edie Falco is Artemis, Phylicia Rashad is Demeter and Rosie Perez will appear as Persephone.
________________________________________________
A brand new image from THE HOBBIT has been released today featuring three dwarfs Nori (Jed Brophy), Dori (Adam Brown), and Ori (Mark Hadlow).  These three brothers, all sons of the same mother, could not be more different from each other. Dori, the oldest, spends much of his time watching out for Ori, the
youngest, making sure he's not caught a chill or got himself killed by Wargs or Goblins. Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it's guaranteed to be dodgy and quite probably, illegal. Dori, Nori and Ori are intensely loyal to each other and whilst they are perfectly happy fighting amongst themselves, woe-betide anyone who means harm to one of these brothers.

Today's main treat is definitely the first teaser for THE IRON LADY, a film coming out this December in which divine Meryl Streep is shooting for an Oscar with her portrayal of British
prime minister Margareth Thatcher. The film will bring a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world. She also became one of Britain's most hated politicians. The film will also feature an insight into her private life with marvelous Jim Broadbent playing her husband. Although we can expect tremendous acting, I'm not sure how much we can expect from the film itself since it is directed by not so skilled Phyllida Lloyd, the helmer of rather visionless and mediocre MAMMA MIA.
LINK OF THE DAY Don't forget to visit our dear Lyndy Young who is celebrating her 25 birthday soon :)

  1. Hi Dezz! Gods Behaving Badly sounds like it has potential. For some reason, I thought Christopher Walken was a major creeper for the longest time. Now I love him! Zeus? Bring it on. :)

  2. I think he still is a major creeper :) Glad you like the film :)

  3. Christopher Walken is creepy good. Love him. :)

    And I love Meryl Streep, but Thatcher is such a turn off I doubt I'll ever watch this one.

  4. yes, we do hate Thatcher for all the evil she's done, but she was better than Toni Blair whom we absolutely despise. I'm just hopping that they won't make the film sugary with Thatcher as a lovable character or something.

  5. i like all the ancient greece-influenced movies coming out recently! and that hobbit photo got my heart rate up, i'll be honest.

  6. I'm a little worried about Gods, but who knows, it might be amusing. The dwarfs look fantastic (of course).

  7. And you are a doll! Thanks for my birthday wishes :)

  8. @E
    well of course you do, you're a fellow history lover like Dezz :)

    @Lyndy
    I've no idea what will that film look like in the end, but lets hope it will be amusing.
    Be welcome, hope you'll have the best birthday so far!

  9. Meryl Streep is divine, isn't she!? Every time she acts, it's like she's teaching a clinic. She's such an amazing talent and a real Rushmore of leading actresses.

  10. I love that they chose Streep, an American, to play such an influential British woman. But, she'll be wonderful.

  11. Hey Dezzy! Lots of fun stuff happening in movietown. I like Alicia Silverstone. CLUELESS is still one of my fav movies. =D

  12. Gods Behaving Badly was such a great book! I didn't know they were making a movie of it (I get all the good scoop from you :)) but in the book it took place in London and I think that would be better than NYC. The cast looks good, though, and I love Christopher Walken. I'll have to reread the book; it was hilarious and I think it would make a great movie (if they do it right, of course).

  13. Christopher Walken is one of my favorites. With him in the Gods movie I think I could go with that one. And the concept sounds like absurd fun.

  14. That's a great cast lineup for "Gods Behaving Badly." I read the book and it's hilarious -- should make for a fun movie!

  15. Gidday Dezmond :)

    Not a great fan of Alicia Silverstone, so probably won't be watching that one. But, as for the incredibly talented Meryl Streep, portraying the Iron Lady - well, that will be a 'must see'!

    I trust things are good with you, good sir? :)

  16. Gods behaving badly sounds pretty awesome, mostly because of Christopher Walken. Meryl Streep looks like she's done a damn good job at portraying Thatcher too.

  17. WOW. Meryl Streep never ceases to AMAZE me. What can't she do??? :D

  18. OMG!! The Iron Lady looks blooming awful. Reminds me of a Little Britain sketch gave me a serious mini sick when I watched it!!

    Thanks Dezzy!

  19. Hi, Dezzy! Wow, I can't wait for THE IRON LADY to come out - Meryl Streep can do no wrong. And the lineup for GODS BEHAVING BADLY sounds pretty intriguing. Christopher Walken? Phylicia Rashad? That sounds like one to see. Thanks for the post!

  20. Nice Hobbit eye candy but Gods Behaving Badly sounds like it has good potential.

  21. I love Meryl Streep. She just disappears into a role. And I feel the same way about Mamma Mia, ugh, what a yawner.

    Gods Behaving Badly sounds like a lot of fun and you know I am on The Hobbit countdown. :)

  22. @Matty
    Meryl is by all means the greatest actress of all times and that is a fact clear as a day!

    @Clarissa
    and she even looks like Thatcher physically!

    @Shells
    glad you like the news today, Shells!

    @Vics
    although we prefer Elves dwarfs can be nice too, when they behave appropriately :)

  23. @Allyson
    you're the second person to say that the book is great, which means that it really must be a nice novel! Hope the film will be nice as well

    @Lee
    it does sound like absurd fun :)

    @Debra
    it really is an unusual cast with lots of forgotten names, including Silverstone who isn't really active in Hollywood.

    @Wendy
    hey, Wendy, have are you doing? Enjoying winter in the Middle Earth? It's scorching hot here in Lotlorien, we are having 40*C today :(

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Jamie
    she even has the same voice as Thathcer, almost unbelievable!

    @Sammy
    I believe Meryl could even play me in a film and she'd probably win an Oscar for it :)

    @Custie
    ah, you're the first one not to like THE IRON LADY teaser :)
    Oooh, I loved watching LITTLE BRITAIN! And French and Saunders also! But I no longer have BBC PRIME on cable :((((( It's hard when, like me, you grew up with SKY ONE, SKY MOVIES, BBC PRIME... and suddenly get deprived from those channels :(

  25. @Ishta
    glad you like today's news, Ishta! It's a slow week thanks to holidays in USA, but I'm trying to dig out at least some interesting news.

    @Lurk
    it really could have some potential!

    @Melsy
    she really does disappear into a role and that's why she will remain the best actress of all times, period. There are many actresses and actors especially who always play themselves,and they should learn something from Meryl!

  26. I used to have a crush on miss Silverstone back in her Aerosmith days.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am excited for the Hobbit and Iron Lady looks really good as well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'll give Iron Lady a look-see.
    Gods Behaving Badly (in a retirement home)?

    ReplyDelete
  29. John Turturro as Hades sounds spectacular.

    Hobbits? Yes please.

    Was there as much of a fuss over Meryl Streep playing Margaret Thatcher as there was over Renee Zellwegger play Beatrix Potter back in 2006?

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Budd
    ah, I almost forgot her Aerosmith days! That was even before CLUELESS

    @Cactus
    glad to see you excited ;)

    @Mary
    it's possible it will be in retirement home

    @Josh
    who is Beatrix Potter? The only film I liked Renee in was COLD MOUNTAIN. She didn't last for long, we're not seeing her in Hollywood for years now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Beatrix Potter was the English author who wrote "Peter Rabbit." A big deal was made out of the casting at the time because Renee, obviously, isn't English and people felt Beatrix Potter should be played by a natural Brit. I haven't heard anything about Meryl Streep in the same light, but that's probably because people are scared of her.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I adore Meryl Streep. Gods Behaving Badly sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Josh
    sorry, Josh, I've no idea who Peter Rabbit is :) but that is a constantly present question - should national heroes and characters important in the tradition of certain country be played by foreign actors? I'd personally wouldn't mind if Meryl Streep would play me in a film :) I'd actually beg her to do it :) Oh, I can already imagine it!

    @Mary
    we all adore Meryl Streep :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Regardless of one feels about Thatcher, I simply look at Streep's performance as an actor in Iron Lady. It's impressive how much she looks and even sound like her, but I guess she is such a virtuoso. Might as well just give her the Oscar right now :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just added The Iron Lady to my "must see" list - and now, ever trying to streamline my life, I have written it right on December's page of my desk calendar!

    I'm a huge Meryl Streep fan - now...this will sound a wee bit creepy but I've been stopped (actually about six times) by people thinking I was her. It's very bazaar because I DO NOT see any resemblance at all. My daughter says in certain angles it is really noticeable, but not to me. So when I get woman stopping me I'm a bit weirded out!

    But...I've always been a fan of hers...with our without having some weird visual connection!

    Okay...off to do more reading!

    Cheers, Jenny

  36. @Flixy
    or there should just be a Meryl Streep category at the Oscars every year :)

    @Jenny
    Meryl Streep lookalike? But you always reminded me more of Sharon Stone than of Meryl :))

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sharon Stone...hmmm, I like that! Works for me!
