BREATHTAKING POSTERS FOR GREEK EPIC "IMMORTALS" WITH HENRY CAVILL, MICKEY ROURKE, KELLAN LUTZ, LUKE EVANS, STEPHEN DORFF AND FREIDA PINTO!

Those of you who are regular visitors of HOLLYWOOD SPY, know that my most anticipated film of the decade is IMMORTALS by visual genius Tarsem Singh (THE FALL, THE CELL) which just got its first, absolutely mesmerizing, posters released. These five character posters show our new SUPERMAN Henry Cavill as the brave Theseus, Luke Evans as Zeus, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Isabel Lucas as Athena and Daniel Sharman as Ares.
Coming out November 11th and produced by people standing behind famous Spartan epic 300, this thrilling adventure will be set in the time after the Gods had won their mythic struggle against the
Titans. But there's a new danger: Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.
Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods.
But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope.
Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders, including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff), one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.
The cast also includes a bunch of other gorgeous young people in the roles of glorious Gods and mythical heroes: Corey Sevier as Apollo, Joseph Morgan as Lysander, Greg Bryk as Nycomedes,
Steve Byers as Heracles, Peter Stebbing as Hellios, Romano Orzari as Icarus, Robert Maillet as Minotaur ... Costume design is done by amazing Eiko Ishioka whom we remember by stunning and absolutely gorgeous costumes from THE CELL, THE FALL, DRACULA ... The budget of the film was around $115 million. We are anxiously waiting for the first trailer.

    I have to say, that trailer you posted yesterday has stuck in my mind. I have talked about it all day today. Perhaps it's because I live in Mexico.

  7. Those are some very nice posters. I think they achieve the dynamic look that Clash of the Titans attempted in their promo posters, and with better effect too.

  12. @Clarissa
    glad the trailer inspired you, Clarissa, maybe it will remind the Mexicans on that sad event from their history, sometimes we need to remind ourselves of such things so that they wouldn't repeat in the future.

    @Nicole
    totally work of art, and I'm guessing that they are somehow connected in a circle, which we will be able to connect when we get the rest of the posters :)

    @Alex
    yes, Lee has been so kind to invite me for a talk about literature and translating

  13. @Jamie
    I loved CLASH OF THE TITANS posters too, although their artistic beauty wasn't really parallel with the film itself

    @Luanne
    ah, both 300 and SPARTACUS were amazing too, I adore historical epics :)

    @El
    the good thing is that beside visual beauty, Tarsem's films usually have a lot of substance as well, so I'm hoping this one will be like that as well

    @Jamie
    gotta feed my readers with all possible info :) I can't send you into the world uninformed :)

    @Debra
    I'm also glad for that, I do adore me some epic adventures and myths on film :)

  18. Hyperion is a Titan, a deity of light and Sun, and the king of the Titans is Kronos. What's with this talk about a king Hyperion? There's no such character in Greek mythology. If they needed a name for a mortal king, they should have picked one that wasn't confusing.

  19. ah, Piotr, you know how Hollywood likes to present their own version of history and change the reality as they see fit :)

  20. I missed this post Dezzy, I finally just saw them last night so I just had to feature 'em today. Man, these are gorgeous posters aren't they? But to be expected from Tarsem. I'm soooo happy for Henry! Did you watch some of the interviews with him and Luke Evans? I just had to post them today as well so people know how wonderful they are. I hope these guys would replace Hollywood's current leading men like Pitt, Clooney, etc. They're not only hunky but smart and funny as well!

  21. Oh wow, I seriously love these!

  22. @Flixy
    lovely posters, I suspect they make some kind of circle when put together. You know, that I absolutely adore both Cavill and Luke, and that I've been supporting them for years :)

    @Avalon
    amazing, aren't they?

  23. oh, that... the posters remind me of what's really up these days. Someone tried to say the same thing -- I'm trying to remember -- winemaking and the secrets of winemaking. For some reason, I associate it with the sign of the centaur... cutting edge, the cutting edge of the gods... .
