THE HUNGER GAMES casting saga continues. You already know that
Jennifer Lawrence got the lead female role in this film adaptation of the bestselling fantasy book. Last week
HOLLYWOOD SPY informed you that talented
Josh Hutcherson and gorgeous
Hunter Parrish are the lead candidates for the male role of Peeta, the main companion of the female heroine in the weird world in which teenagers are forced to fight till death in the arena. But beside the two of them there are some new young actors who have appeared at the screen testing yesterday: charismatic
Lucas Till (we shall watch him this summer in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS beside Jennifer Lawrence again) has auditioned for Peeta, while
Liam Hemsworth (we shall watch him in ARABIAN NIGHTS) has auditioned for the role of Gale, the best friend of the female heroine.
The production of
THE HOBBIT has finally started, most of the cast has been gathered, but as you remember young
Saoirse Ronan was also rumored to be a possible member of the cast. If she really joins the Middle Earth saga she might play Itaril, one of the Silvan Elves and a member of the Woodland King’s Guard. But she will probably have to choose between this role and the bellow mentioned Snow White lead.
As you know, two big Snow White projects are in preparation, and here are some new updates on both of them. According to latest rumors
Viggo Mortensen has decided to reject the role in
THE SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, which will have Kristen Stewart in the lead role (which is why I'm not watching the film) and
Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Apparently, Viggo wanted more money than offered. On the other side
Tarsem Singh's
THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE has found its prince. Joining
Julia Roberts, who plays the Evil Queen, will be dashing rising star
Armie Hammer (SOCIAL NETWORK), while
Saoirse Ronan could be his Snow White if she accepts the role.
I didn't know they were making two Snow Whites. I wonder why they have this interest all of the sudden.

ReplyDeleteOh, I am so glad you posted something about The Hunger Games movie, because I am a HUGE fan of the books. I am worried, though; every time something that made a wicked book gets turned into a movie I am always disappointed. THG was BRILLIANT fiction and I'd kinda just like to see it left alone. But who are we kidding? I'll be watching the movie nonetheless because my curiosity will be the best of me. :)

ReplyDeleteSaoirse Ronan is amazing and I would love to see her be able to do both roles. I have zero interest in Kristen Stewart as Snow White or anything else.

I think it's exciting that an Oscar nominated actress has been cast to play one of my favorite literary heroes. I am worried that the film will go in a direction of action movie, rather than and action/drama film.

I've been writing about HUNGER GAMES for a month now, so if you're more interested you can use search button in the right sidebar to find more posts on it ;) I personally haven't read the book as I have a negative opinion on most YA books in which teens are put in violent situations, but I know that a lot of my dear ladies loved the book, so I'm trying to keep you informed on the production :)
Sorry, I have been a sporadic reader lately (my bad!). This was such a freaking brilliant series...As an adult reading it (and all of the people I know who have read it are adults and everyone has loved it) I got an awful lot more from it than a teen might have. It's great for all ages, I think!

yep, with Viggo gone, and Kristen in the lead role, I believe SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN will be a flop.

both SNOW WHITE films will be quite action packed as far as I've understood.
I'm loving how hollywood is putting an edgy spin on these soft ass kiddy movies for the adults! It's like they are finally manning-up!

Hmm, Ronin's got a tough choice to make if it came down to it... the lead role in Snow White would be pretty damn awesome, but this is The Hobbit we're talking about, here!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a really hard choice - in SNOW WHITE she would have a lead role, in THE HOBBIT not, but as you said THE HOBBIT is THE HOBBIT :)

ReplyDeleteThe Hobbit on the other hand I am looking forward to. I'm really wondering how they make two films out of the book. So I hope they are filling it with some extra, new story.

You can trust Tarsem Singh to make a great movie, Nahno. I don't really agree with his choice of Julia Roberts (but since she really seems evil I guess I can turn a blind eye on that) but Tarsem always makes stunning and most amazing films. But when it comes to the second Snow White project, I'm sure it will be bad already.

ReplyDeleteohman! i love saoirise ronan so much! (although i can never spell her name right! eeks!) she could film a billion movies and i'd probably want to see them all! (even with julia in them! blech.)
ReplyDeleteblech on lucas till as well. he seems like a sweet kid, but in the one movie that i've seen him in (hannah montana- don't judge me! :P) he couldn't act worth a shake... so... man! either he'd need to have upped his game a million fold, or he'll ruin the movie for real! oh and hutcherson- please tell us they are considering him for gale- not peeta. he would make a great gale (his darker stuff in winged creatures and cirque du freak shows he could handle that character so well... then again he was great as the hopeful tragic dreamer in terabithia- so maybe he could do a good peeta... they could dye his hair or something... shoot they could paint his face purple and he'd blow till out of the water.) anyway... when i write stories i see the characters in my head and sometimes they have the faces of actors or actresses. hutcherson and ronan are both faces of characters i've written- so i really root for them,you know. maybe i'm a bit partial because of that! :)

I can't say I agree with you on Lucas Till. I actually find him very unique and he always strikes me deeply with his warm and kind presence. I've seen him in a few films and he was always very lovable, friendly, an adorable good guy. There is something in his eyes and his smile which makes you wanna trust him and support him. I think he will do great in XMEN too this summer. But I would like Hunter Parrish in this film. And everything I said about Lucas kinda goes for Hutcherson too. I think we need more such good boys in Hollywood instead of talentless rebels and punks.
things aren't looking good for snow white. Not sure about big names in nameless roles for the Hobbit.
