NBC is preparing a new sitcom with the coolest title ever:
ARE YOU THERE VODKA? IT'S ME, CHELSEA will be a hilarious new comedy show about a free spirited and very opinionated cocktail waitress who loves alcohol and one-night stands. The sitcom will be the adaptation of the best selling Chelsea Handler's novel produced by DHARMA AND GREG producers, and will have charming
Laura Prepon (THAT 70'S SHOW) in the title role. It's interesting, that besides acting and looking lovely, Laura is also a writer, and she recently sold her web series NEIGHBROS to an unknown network.
Bad, bad news people, it seems that the long awaited prequel to famous 300 Spartan epic
XERXES won't be directed by
Zack Snyder but by
Guy Ritchie. I'm personally horrified, to say the least. Since Zack's SUPERMAN should start shooting at about the same time as
XERXES it seems he won't take the helm :( As you remember,
XERXES will follow Themistocles at the Battle of Artemisium, which coincidentally happens on the exact same three days as the Battle of Thermopylae, describing the causes of the Persian wars. It starts off at the Battle of Marathon and then it goes back to Themistocles finding out that Persians are invading again. At the same time, the film will tell the story of Persian king Xerxes (played by amazing
Rodrigo Santoro in 300, but I'm not sure if he will play him in this one too).
I've heard about the show, but I didn't realize it would have Laura Prepon in it. That's great. I really like her.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about Xerxes, though I still haven't seen 300 yet, so I'm not sure I could gauge the problems having Ritchie in charge.
Ah, that Rodrigo is so darn gorgeous it's too bad he'll be covered by all that jewelry playing Xerxes.

I'd think Laura Prepon would make a great Laura Croft.
ReplyDeleteEh, Laura Croft remade won't cut it for me. Sorry, I'm an Angelina Jolie fan and I think she did an awesome job of it. The Xerxes film however, is very intriguing.

Gosh darn Olivia's skinny ... is that healthy?? lol. ANyway, I love the Lara Croft movies and I like the idea of making it just as geared toward women... but I never found it offensive anyway... Angelina can pull it off and women still like her. She just has that way about her. Can't really see anyone else as Lara.

That vodka title is awesome! Love it. As for Guy Ritchie, poor guy has been tainted by the Madonna connection AND his previous work. Yikes.

I don't, he belongs to the group of very dark and irresponsible directors such as Tarantino, Nolan, Fincher, Rodriguez etc for whom I have absolutely no respect nor love.
i wasn't impressed with the lara croft movie i saw... i think they could only go up from there. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Laura Prepon from her 70's show days. And I love Chelsea Handler. I just bought tix to see Chelsea's comedy act. Cool except they were way pricey! Will be a fun show I'm sure.

You can't get more empowering than Lara Croft. Angelina Jolie demonstrated that quite well in first two movies.
