NEW "MATRIX" COMING UP? "MARGIN CALL" WITH KEVIN SPACEY, PAUL BETTANY, JEREMY IRONS & ZACHARY QUINTO. "THE LEDGE" WITH PATRICK WILSON, LYV TYLER, CHRISTOPHER GORHAM & CHARLIE HUNNAM!

It seems this will be the day of HOLLYWOOD SPY'S favourite actors! First here's a great cast for a not so interesting movie: MARGIN CALL will have Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany (my favourite), Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto (my favourite),
Penn Badgley, Simon Baker and Stanley Tucci in its cast. Set in the high-stakes world of the financial industry, this will be a thriller entangling the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. When entry-level analyst Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto) unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions both financial and moral catapult the lives of all involved to the brink of disaster.
Here's the crazy news of the day: according to AICN, two MATRIX 3D films are currently in the works. According to mysterious rumors, Keanu Reeves had a meeting with the Wachowski brothers during Christmas and they have completed their secret work on the scripts for two new sequels which would bring us back to the crazy world of MATRIX.

THE LEDGE, a film with great cast which premiered last week at Sundance Festival has been bought for national distribution. In this race-against-time thriller, the opposing philosophies of two men embroiled in a complicated love triangle with a beautiful woman (Lyv Tyler) escalate into a lethal battle of wills. Ultimately, the believer (Patrick Wilson-my favourite) forces the non-believer (Charlie Hunnam) onto the ledge of a tall building. He gives him one hour to make a choice between his own life and someone else's, a while a policeman (Terrence Howard) tries to convince him to come down. Without faith of an afterlife, will he be capable of such a sacrifice? The film also stars Christopher Gorham (my favourite).

PS, I know most of you will hate me for this :) - but I'm soooo glad Nolan didn't get a nomination for an Oscar today :)

  1. I'd rather eat broken glass than watch Margin Call.

  2. Do we really need another Matrix? Really?

  3. I don't understand. There was only one Matrix movie. I think there might have been some rip off copycats with the same actors, but those aren't cannon.

  4. Depends on who is directing the new Matrix movie...

  5. I will definitely be seeing The Ledge. I love Patrick Wilson, but I love Charlie Hunnam even more because he is so fantastic in Sons of Anarchy, my favorite, favorite show on TV. Should be interesting to see Patrick as a religious psychopath. He such an awesome actor.:)

    I thought Neo died at the end of the third Matrix flick. I guess they'll do that soap opera he didn't really die crap. Movies about Wall Street put me right to sleep.

  6. I definitely would see The Ledge. The others you can keep.

  7. The sad thing about the Matrix, is that the suckage level of each subsequent film was directly proportional to the awesome level of the original.

    I'll probably still see them eventually though.

  8. I am dubious of another Matrix sequel. I have already written the riot act on why the studios proclivity to reboot every franchise is disingenuous at best.

    As you reported, if Keanu and the Wachowski Brothers are behind the sequels (no studio influence), then there might be some more potential for something innovative.

  9. Hmmm. The first Matrix was great, but something about the second and third left me wanting (especially that horrible second one). I'm really afraid of what they would do next... But if Keanu is in it, I'll see it anyway.

    I was listening to my Phantom of the Opera soundtrack this weekend and OMG why doesn't Patrick Wilson do more musical movies? He's absolutely crushable in that. . . . his voice is silky silky smooth.

  10. Did the Wachowski brothers forget Neo is dead?
    Sorry, I'm really disappointed Nolan got shafted. Again.

  11. Margin Call seems like a souped up version of Glen Gary Glen Ross with less cussing and prettier players...still, I like roller coaster thrillers.
    Edge of Your Seat Romance

  12. At least they're not making a facebook sequel. Hollywood is not putting much good out lately. With all the creativity that exists [obvious on the net], I'd think they could come up with better.

  13. @Beer
    well, have a nice appetite then ;)

    @Amy
    indeed we don't!

    @Budd
    what do you mean one? Did you forget the two others because they were super bad :)

    @Stock
    well, I'm guessing the Wachovski bross.

  14. @Melissa
    we all thought Neo's dead :) and I'm totally with you on Wall Street flicks!

    @MAry
    you picked out the best one!

    @Matthew
    you couldn't be more right, sir!

    @Matty
    we can only hope, Matty, but the did the second and the third part as well, and they were horrible!

    Patrick really is amazing! He sings somewhere in theater I think, but I'm not sure.

    @DarkBlue
    indeed he is! ;)

    @Alex
    I'm guessing Neo is more powerful than death and such trivialities :)

  16. @Raquel
    glad you like the movie, Raquel ;)

    @Vapor
    if it gets made off course :)

    @MPax
    ha ha .. love that one about the Facebook sequel :)

  17. I'd like to echo everyone else's thoughts on the Matrix. Neo is dead and the trilogy was after the first movie. Besides, while the original Matrix in 3D would be awesome, I feel like this is just a money making ploy following on the heels of Avatar. We don't need any more.

    And, yeah, Wall Street movie? *snore* but at least Penn Badgley is doing something more respectable than Gossip Girl and a movie about a psycho dad...

  18. yep, Rosie, MATRIX died after the first film :) He he ... love the comment on Penn...

  19. So I take it, you're going to watch MARGIN CALL? I like Zachary Quinto and Simon Baker.

    I love the Matrix too! Well, it'll be interesting where they take the films now.

    THE LEDGE - what a terrifying and exciting movie. I want to see it.

  20. I will although I don't like the topic :)
    THE LEDGE does sound super exciting ... a thrilling film which won't let you blink.

  21. If they must, then I hope they go back to the feel of the first Matrix

  22. Sheesh, ANOTHER Matrix movie? Hollywood is definitely running out of creative juices!

    I hadn't heard about The Ledge before until you mentioned it. I'm curious to see how Hollywood is going to handle such a sensitive subject matter, I hope I'm wrong but usually they'll make the believer the bad guy and just label him a fundamentalist psycho :( A true Christian would never try to take a man's life just to prove a point.

  23. Two more Matrix movies? Sounds interesting. However, I hope they don't fail!

    Thanks for the info Dezmond!

  24. @Lynda
    that is my hope too, although Keanu's people said today it isn't true ....

    @Flixy
    it's true, but there aren't many true Christians around :( However, I'm sure Patrick will be amazing in the role!

    @Doo
    be welcome, Doo! ;)

  25. I'm interested in,"The Ledge", Patrick Wilson
    should be great! Not sure about the Matrix, but I am a Keanu fan~ Unsure about the Margin, but looks like an intriguing cast. Jeremy Irons plays a great bad ass! Can't wait til Spring, when he is on Showtime, in "Borgias"! I also a Paul and Zachary fan~

  26. Margin Call - anything with Stanley Tucci will be good. (yeah?)

  27. Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany and Jeremy Irons? Wow! My kinda movie :) Excellent casting don't you think dear Dezmond :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Ella
    yes, I adore all of those actors you mentioned from the post! And can't possibly wait for BORGIAS :)

    @Robert
    he does often have nice films, loved him in JULIE AND JULIA with Meryl Streep a few years ago.

    @Wendy
    more than excellent :)

  29. Oh Dez, how could you say that. There are a bazillion of true Christians who practice what they believe in, you just don't see 'em reported in the media, let alone Hollywood.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Avalon
    it's nice to know that :)

    @Flixy
    well, there are, but there are even more of those who are just hypocrites and who don't practice what they preach. Unfortunately :( I, actually, think, that as an atheist, I'm often a bigger Christian than many of the religious people I know or see :(
