WARNER BROS. WANTS KARL URBAN AS BRUCE WAYNE IN THEIR NEW AND SECRET "BATMAN" TV SHOW. GERARD BUTLER TO GO ON A SF ADVENTURE IN "AFTERBURN". THE FIRST "GREEN LANTERN" TRAILER

Here's a great piece of news for all the Butlermaniacs among my readers (and I know there are thousands of you): HOLLYWOOD SPY's best British gent, Gerard Butler is negotiating to take the lead role in AFTERBURN, the sf adventure based on Red5
Comics
graphic novels which are set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic Earth whose Eastern Hemisphere was destroyed by a massive solar flare. The story centers on treasure hunters aiming to extract such items as the Mona Lisa amid competition from rival hunters, mutants and pirates. Methinks, Gerry Berry is the right man for this kind of business!

One of the hottest rumors yesterday says that after the finish of THE DARK KNIGHT saga in cinemas, Warner Bros. is planning to move Batman onto the small screen in a new weekly BATMAN TV SHOW which would revolve around billionaire Bruce Wayne
and his further adventures in Gotham City as The Dark Knight. The show would also see Joker's return to Gotham. Now, the hottest news is that Warner Bros. apparently wants Karl Urban (HOLLYWOOD SPY'S most underrated actor) or a similar type of actor in the role of Bruce Wayne. The show, off course, won't happen before the THE DARK KNIGHT RISES premieres in 2012.

And it's finally here, the treat of the day - GREEN LANTERN trailer has been officially released yesterday. Tell me what you think about it. I adore the costume :)

  1. Think the green of course ;);PP
    Seriously, it just looks too fake in certain parts for my taste and Reynolds actually looks a bit goofy in it if you ask me. The cast of Blake Lively seem uninspired and not so interesting. But I still believe in Martin Campbell's direction anyway.

  2. If any of those handsome young men want to be there, I accept.

    Thanks for stopping by my blog. Just so you know, that's Keeley Hawes from Ashes to Ashes, that's not me. However, I'm planning to do an author's photo.

    yep, he does look goofy, but I think he was going for that (there's the suit changing scene :)) But I won't agree with you on Blake. I find her absolutely mesmerizing in this role. This is the first time I actually love the female lead in a super hero film :)

    @Clarissa
    yes, I know, and I'm angry with you that you got us fooled :) I've never heard of Keeley so I thought it was really you.

  4. Well it's okay if we have different opinion. I totally can't find anything mesmerizing about her in this role.

  5. I think Karl Urban is finally receiving more attention. I am sure it is taking more time then he would like it to take.

  6. The suit is okay as long as it isn't glowing. I don't care for the suit changing scene and I agree with Jaccstev, although pretty, the scene they used in the trailer wasn't very good.

    Ryan Reynolds just doesn't have the Hal Jordon look.

  7. Butler looks funny drawn on that one poster. Otherwise, good stuff.

  8. I heard about GB in Afterburn from my pal ScarletSp1der just minutes after the news broke out. While I think he'd be good for the role, part of me wish he'd do a dramatic role... I mean, a REAL good drama that really flex his dramatic chops without a gun/knife/bazooka ever being drawn in the entire film :D I thought he was going to be in a soccer comedy Slide (I blogged about it here http://wp.me/pxXPC-1Wr ) I was excited about that one.

  9. Oh, forgot to mention YES for Karl as Bruce Wayne!! Oh my, to see dashing Mr. Urban every week on TV... that'd be awesome! I love Bale but Urban could easily give even him a run for his money :D

  10. Well, green is my wife's favorite color and I like green as well. The preview looks kind of cool but more of the same stuff only in green. It's a green Iron Man.
    The costume companies and other licensed product companies love this stuff.

  11. The Green Lantern should make WB some green this summer. Cool concept, lots of SFX, lots of fun. & hopefully he'll learn to offer his girlfriend more than "water in the tap." C'mon, be more imaginative! :)

  12. Trailer looks wicked cool!
    And Urban could pull off Batman. Odd they would choose now to do a TV series though.

    of course it is, Jaccsy :)

    @Avalon
    and that WE would like it to take :(

    @Budd
    yep, Ryan makes the whole film a relaxed comedy, not a serious film, but we knew it would be like that back when he got the role.

    that's because he wears a stunningly tailored suit :) I wish I had a jacket like that one, and I wish it would fit me like it fits him :(

    @Flixy
    ah, must admit I'm totally not into watching him play soccer again :) I don't think we will see him pull out a drama role any time soon. I think he's just enjoying himself currently, in this part of his life. Maybe later on, if he doesn't ruin his career with too much romcoms before that. He could use a dramatic role which would require a total physical change from him, to look broken, sad, devastated maybe even unattractive. Like Charlize did in MONSTER or Bale in THE MACHINIST.

    maybe you should open a costume business again to score some green with the Green Lantern mania :)

    @Lisa
    he he that was funny :)

    @Alex
    Urban for president!

    @Masy
    glad you enjoyed the trailer :)

  17. Dezmond, I couldn't agree with you more. Karl Urban, is indeed a much underrated actor. It's a mystery why?

    Don't they know he heralds from Middle Earth :)

  19. Well, thanks for showing us the Green Lantern trailer. Unfortunately my greatest fear has come to pass. They are letting Ryan Reynolds be funny as Hal Jordan, rather than playing the character the way he was originally written. The stupid part is that Ryan has the acting chops I think to do the role justice, but obviously whoever wrote it failed to pay attention to anything from the source material.

    Sigh...

    Another failed comic book movie franchise that could have been so much more.

  20. yep, it seems Ryan's goofing will be a problem for many people. I would also prefer a more serious take on the superhero.

  21. Hey Dez, well I don't even think about such a drastic transformation for a role... just something more understated that's more nuanced and restrained. As for a physical transformation, he did do that with 300. He was quite chubby just before the movie started and the training nearly killed him. In any case, I hope the script is decent... the writers' resume didn't seem all that impressive though :(
