According to "Variety" Sam Raimi has been signed by Dreamworks to direct a modern version of Wyat Earp, which will basically be a movie adaptation of the graphic novel "Earp: Saints for Sinners". This post-apocalyptic sf flick will be a modern re-imagining of Western hero Wyatt Earp as he fights outlaws in a ravaged society where the only boomtown left is Las Vegas. The first artwork should be revealed later this week at ComicCon. Does this mean that Raimi has given up on doing "Warcraft" movie?
Admittedly, Will Smith has never really been an original actor who stars in films with unique ideas and plots, but this time he really outdid himself: he will star in "The Legend of Cain" which will pretty much mix Bible and vampires. It will be a modern retelling of the Biblical story of Cain mixed with vampires with Smith as the title character. Oh, what would Tinseltown do without such a movie?
And some good news for all of the Trekkies: "Star Trek 2" will start shooting in January. We are waiting to hear the first news about the plot, but the sequel to the mega successful and critically acclaimed first part, should come to cinemas in summer 2012 and it will bring the amazing cast, including Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Cho, on a mission again.
And I also have the first teaser from "The Wind in the Willows", the mix of live-action and animatronics in the new adaptation of the famous Kenneth Grahame's tale this time done by WETA, Peter Jackson's CGI workshop. The actual shooting of the film will start later this year but they made this very early teaser which is very dark and doesn't really reveal anything, but its ending is rather intriguing and charming, so check it out. In the film, the animals join forces to save their land from a sinister plot that threatens to destroy an uneasy truce between the peaceful animals of the Willows and what remains of Mankind.
Oh, the Wind in the Willows! I didn't know they were making a film--now I'm very excited! And yes, that teaser was quite dark...
ReplyDeleteI don't have much to say about ol' Willie Smith...
And for ST 2: !!!!!
Wyatt Earp in modern era...whoa
ReplyDeleteThe Star Trek reboot was fantastic. They did a terrific job of character development, unlike the G.I. Joe movie, where I didn't care about any of the characters. (I had watched both movies, back-to-back.)
ReplyDeleteI'm rather looking forward to the next Trek!
Will Smith should stick to rapping. Or "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air"... I could live with him reprising that role, too.
didn't will smith do a Vampire movie already?
ReplyDeleteEarp actually sounds cool. I may have to give the graphic novel a read.
@Summer
ReplyDeleteI don't expect THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS to come out any time soon, but at least the teaser promises some great atmosphere and great animation.
@Avalon
well, we still have the wild west, don't we? :))
@J.M.NEEB
STAR TREK reboot was probably the best movie that year if you ask me. I liked GI JOE as well, but I knew what to expect from it from the beginning :)
@Budd
well, he did suck a lot of energy and the money from the moviegoers, so we might call him a vampire :)
#I want Raimi just focusing on bringing that Warcraft to the big screen ASAP!
ReplyDelete#Can't wait to watch another Star Trek film from JJ Abrams.
#Adapting a story from the Bible into a Hollywood movie, OK sure, but leave the vamps out of it.
Post-apocalyptic Wyatt Earp? What will they think of next? Are they going to be doing a film version of the Abe Lincoln zombie fighter book?

Tossing It Out
Interesting news.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's a well known fact Will Smith could do whatever he pleases. :) He's the most bankable star in Hollywood these last several years.
Marko-Nick Cage would disagree with you. Oh you said bankable and not bankrupt.
ReplyDeletelegend of cain sounds good. anything that gets creative with the bible will pique my interest. it's one of those things that could easily be done poorly. but if it is successful, it's an ambitious story line to accomplish.
ReplyDeleteLots of cool news! Thanks Dez.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for Star Trek 2! I'm a dork and I embrace this.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of news today, Dezz! Wyatt Earp sounds intriguing. Ready for the next Star Trek as well. And Cain and vampires? Don't remember that chapter in my Bible...
ReplyDelete@Jaccsy
ReplyDeleteyep, I believe all the geekdom wants Raimi to start working on WARCRAFT :))
@Arlee
oh, Arlee, just go down and read my last week's post on Burton/Depp and you will see that Abraham Lincoln/vampires movie is already in the preproduction :)))))
@Bels
yep, although we still don't know why people love him so much over in the USA :)
@Budd
ReplyDeleteI'm quite sure Nick Cage isn't reading HOLLYWOOD SPY :)) he was trashed quite often in our comments here :))))
@Ed
there's also a movie about Mary Mother of Christ coming up with Camila Belle :)
@Matthew
be welcome, glad you like them.
@Angie
ReplyDeleteoh, we are all dorks and geeks when it comes to STAR TREK :)
@Alex
I know you like your sf news presented daily and fresh :))) You'd read Bible? :)
what? none of you like will smith? i loved I Am Legend! am i the only one? (but boy am i sick of vampires! -except being human of course!)
ReplyDelete:))) well, it's not that we don't like him personally (although I must admit I can't stand his nepotism), it's his movies that we don't like so much - never really original, never really unique stories, he is a cliche type in every respect.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love BEING HUMAN sooooo much :)
I liked also the StarTrek movie, it was supposed to be a 'beginning' movie, if there is a 2nd what will it be about?
ReplyDeleteOML :)
@Lurky
ReplyDeletethe plot hasn't been revealed yet. They will probably work on the team chemistry now that the crew had gathered in the first part, and according to some rumors last winter, the film will have a very strong villain.
I keep hearing good things about Being Human. I'll have to check that one out. :)
ReplyDeleteyou must, Bels, it's really a unique BBC show, the kind you won't see over in USA. I've watched the first season, and will watch the second one probably in August.
ReplyDeleteI love Will Smith!!
ReplyDeleteSTARTREK2STARTREK2!!! *Bl-Irish jig commencing*
