NEW ROLES FOR ALEXANDER SKARSGARD, RACHEL MCADAMS, CHANNING TATUM, SAM WORTHINGTON, FREIDA PINTO, LAUREN GRAHAM...

Ok, people here's a bunch of fresh casting news (with a bunch of hot pics, Dezz knows whatcha like) to kick off the weekend:
Our favourite Scandinavian Alexander Skarsgard will join young Taylor Kitsch (currently shooting "John Carter of Mars") in a sf movie adaptation of the popular Hasbro game "Battleship" which will follow an international fleet coming together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin. Alexander Skarsgard will play Kitsch's brother, a straight and narrow naval officer whom Kitsch, a wildly spirited naval officer, idolizes.

Freida Pinto (currently shooting ancient Greek epic "Immortals") and Don Cheadle have been offered roles in the sf prequel "Rise of the Apes". They could join James Franco in the film which will revolve around the aftermath of a scientist's genetic engineering gone wrong, and will depict the war between man and ape in a fight for supremacy.

Two cute young people Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum will star together in "The Vow", based on a true story about a young woman who loses all recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity, just two months after she got married.

One of my favourite TV actresses, adorable Lauren Graham ("Gilmore Girls") has made a very very strange decision to star in "Scream IV". She will again play a mother in the new installment of the horror franchise.

The luckiest guy in Hollywood, Sam Worthington could join Chris Pine in "This Means War", in which they will play best friends and longtime spies who wage black-ops warfare on each other when they both fall for Reese Witherspoon. Don't be overly optimistic, the movie is directed by McG :)

  1. I'm going to make my wife's day and direct her here so she can look at Alexander Skarsgard's pic all afternoon! (But we know him as Eric Northman, natch.)

  2. You had me at Skarsgard. That kind of movie ordinarily might not appeal to me, but looks like I may have to see it. :)

    you do that, but don't tell me there's nothing for you personally to look at here at HOLLYWOOD SPY? :))) If nothing else, just scroll down to the bottom of the page ;)

    @Kelly
    I knew I had you :)))

  4. So they really are making Battleship? What's next - checkers?
    Wonder if Worthington will act for this one?

  5. not Checkers, but some other toys and action figures are having movies done based on them in the future :)

  6. Alex J. Cavanaugh who just commented above is funny, a movie about checkers! Not to be confused w/ Nixon's dog!

    Alexander Skarsgard is mega hot but I'll watch him in True Blood instead.

  7. Battleship? Really? Are they going to make movies like Sorry and Monopoly?

  8. BTW, you know the photo of Skarsgard was photoshopped by a fan. His own body is much better!

    we positively love Alex as well :) and we don't really believe you that you won't take a peek of Skarsgard in BATTLESHIP :pp

    @Lydia
    actually if I remember correctly MONOPOLY movie is already planned :)

    @Leslieg

  10. I thought I watched the Vow somewhere already, it used to be called 50 First Dates... Can't say I'm too thrilled to see the wooden Channing Tatum get the lead male character opposite the lovely Rachel.

    Sam Worthington in a rom-com? I know it will probably be the usual junk but I'm interested in seeing that side of him!

    And I share your love for Lauren Graham, it's too bad she isn't in more quality movies.

  11. Interesting, I find Rachel equally wooden and expressionless :)
    Yep, I also don't know why Lauren didn't appear in more movies, if nothing else she could've been a great star in romantic comedies.

  12. Really?? To each his own but this is a pretty bold claim there. Rachel has some of the most expressive eyes and face out there and can subtly portray the entire range of human emotions. I'm almost going to question your credibility Dez ;)

    I can't even remember seeing Lauren Graham in any other movie but Bad Santa. Let's just say I have seen an episode or two of Gilmore Girls just for Lauren... No one read that ok?

  13. Awww I love Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls too!

  14. @Castor
    well, Channing also has the most expressive eyes :) When it comes to Rachel, she's cute but average, a simple girl next door, nothing too profound, no real charisma, nothing special to remember her for. Kinda like Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Love Hewitt type, actresses which come and go .... Most of young American actresses are like that. I guess it's because they don't have that special something that you get while educating yourself (or acting) in British or European acting schools or theaters. That's why all the biggest, expressive, deeply profound actresses today are from UK or Australia.

    @Nicole
    she's extremely lovable :)

  15. I'd watch Alexander Skaarsgard read quietly, that's how much i love him

  16. but he would have to be appropriately undressed for that reading session, I imagine? :))

  18. Taylor is about to get big (not what you think, you naughty you ^_^) - he is the main star of the upcoming sf epic JOHN CARTER OF MARS.
