Gerard Butler will play real-life hero Sam Childers, a reformed criminal turned crusader who enters Africa's most dangerous battle zones to rescue children from the clutches of rebel warlords. Michelle Monaghan will play Lynn, Childers' wife who struggled to keep their family together while he helped establish an orphanage house in Africa. Michael Shannon is in talks to play a close friend of Childers who stayed with Lynn while her husband was off on his crusade.

ReplyDeleteGerard Butler's had a tough go of things since 300. For every blockbuster he's had about 5 bombs. But I do still enjoy his charisma.
ReplyDeleteHere though, I approve of Michelle Monaghan for any casting choices.
I think he's one those actors who just enjoy their lives and do movies for fun, not paying special attention to the profitability or possible popularity of their movies.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this one. I like Gerard Butler. He isn't your prototypical male lead action star, he adds more depth to his roles I think. And his female co-stars (Jen, Gemma, Angelina, Katherine, etc.) are always smokin' hot, and Michelle is no exception!

ReplyDeleteI love him, Jaccsy, but I'm not a huge fan, I post stories about him, firstly because he has been here in Serbia for a month and many sites have been taking stories from me, and secondly because a huge number of his devoted fans is visiting HOLLYWOOD SPY and since we love them a lot, we write about Gerry as often as possible :)
ReplyDeleteThe Gerry fans love your posts Dez - keep it up. It shouldn't be hard as he's keeping himself busy with work, and as his lifestyle proves, he's always out and about living it up. I'm really rooting for him to do a quality film. I think it's long overdue - since 300 and Dear Frankie. I agree with another post where he's doesn't bank on successes - just happy to be working. I don't think he knows how to turn down roles! He's making his mark in several genres and they all have entertainment value.

Hey, Vicks, always nice to see you here :) Gerry has left Serbia today together with the whole cast, they've finished shooting. In order to celebrate it, they went to one of Belgrade clubs last evening, and had a crazy party. Gerard was in such a great mood that he went to stage to sing a few songs with Mika, one of them being SEX BOMB :)) Although many gorgeous girls approached him last evening, according to all the people present there, he didn't pay much attention to them this time, and Martina Rajic wasn't with him either. They are now moving to Montenegro to shoot some more scenes, but I'm not sure if he'll be there as well.

Looking forward to seeing the film - I have loved everything I've seen Ralph in, he's is just a huge talent. So mesmerizing and potent - Gerry too, but Ralph is something else. ReplyDeleteYes Univarn for the charisma comment. GB does have oodles of that, though if only that helps him in choosing his roles! But this one I'm excited about, I blogged about it back in Jan (http://wp.me/pxXPC-Rh) I'm ok with Monaghan as his co-star, though I was so excited when I heard Vera Farmiga was cast, only to drop out soon after when she found out she was pregnant so she couldn't travel to Africa.
