FIRST PICS FROM SEAN BEAN'S HISTORICAL FILM "BLACK DEATH"

We've mentioned Sean Bean's upcoming historical movie "Black Death" some time ago, and now we have an update: the movie is officially out in Great Britain in February this year, and thanks to "Beyond Hollywood" we also have the first pictures from the movie.
Directed by Christopher Smith the movie is set in medieval England which has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. In this apocalyptic world, filled with fear and superstition, a young monk called Osmund is charged with leading a fearsome knight, Ulric (Sean Bean) and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer – someone able to bring the dead back to life. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his heart’s desire, the horror of his real journey begins.

  1. I've already got the commercial planned out for this movie. Open with a shot of Sean Bean holding a sword for 20 seconds then put up:

THIS MOVIE STARS SEAN ******* BEAN!

Then show the name of the movie and the date. People don't need to know anything but that.

  2. :)))
I must agree with you, sire, master Sean Bean never seems to appear in anything else but armors and cloaks. He probably wears them at home too.

  5. This movie looks good... I like Sean Bean and that baby-faced blond guy (can't remember his name but have seen him in several movies.) Does this mean Sean will actually be playing a good guy!? Shocking. :)

  6. I agree with Nat. How strange it would be for everyone to see Sean Bean as a good guy (mind you, he was mostly good as Boromir in LOTR).

  7. What makes it special is the fact that we don't often see historical movies these days, but it is something this year could change having in mind all the epics awaiting us in 2010.

Nat and Alan, now you confuse me a bit, all the Sean Bean's movies I've seen so far had him as a good knight, but I guess his sharp face can make him a villain as well.

  8. ...and that girl looks so innocent. I can't picture her as a Satan worshiper. But then again, this is movie, and a fantastic one at that.

Dark Ages indeed... If only they bathed more often (or ever :)), plague victims wouldn't have been so numerous.
But no... It's much easier to accuse some innocent girl/woman of being a witch. :(

  9. it seems you generally can't see through angels and devils these days :)) Bels.
Oh, yes, imagine living in their houses and castles will all that stench and curious smells. Way too nasty to imagine :((((( Queen Elizabeth was considered a stickler for cleanliness and purist because she bathed too much - once every few months :)

  12. Dezmond,
I've seen Sean Bean in "Scarlett" (sequel to "Gone with the Wind")- bad guy, "National Treasure"- bad guy, and he's 1/2 good, 1/2 bad in LOTR. (Although I think he was a good guy in "Troy.") No matter what, he's a talented and handsome actor!

  13. I took him for good in LOTR and TROY although he becomes a bit naughty in both films :)
