FIRST "ROBIN HOOD" TRAILER IS FINALLY OUT!
The first trailer for Ridley Scott's medieval epic has hit the Net today. Starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Matthew Macfadyen and Max von Sydow, the movie opens May 14th 2010. "Robin Hood" follows a love triangle which forms between the legendary Robin Hood, his Maid Marian and the archer's arch nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Crowe stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a scenario that sees him more noble lawman than an evil king's right-hand man and facing off with a more shadier Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest.
It does look like another Ridley Scott epic, and I'm not much of a Russell Crowe fan, but I think I'm going to have to put this on my list for next year regardless. It does look kinda cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you R-Co when it comes to not being Russell's fan :) but I adore Cate Blanchett so that's the main reason why I'll watch this ;)
ReplyDeleteYou would have made my day, but someone else had posted it so they made it! The trailer seems a little rushed but I'm still pumped for this film.
ReplyDeleteAh, AnswerMVP2001, some of us have to sweat and toil all day, being the working people, so we don't manage to publish the updates in the morning :)))) But at least you made my day by coming and commenting here ;)
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable, I'm a "working people" myself. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never asked you what do you do, and what's your real name or at least a nickname (this one from blogger is not always practical for citing :))?
ReplyDeleteI read someplace that this movie is supposed to make The Sheriff of Nottingham the hero and Robin...well not such a hero...I think this movie is based on those recently found medieval documents stating that Robin was murderous and not so merry...Or have the writers changed their mind?
ReplyDeleteThis movie will follow that new point in the story - the story with a bit more naughty and shadier Robin Hood :)) But I must admit I don't care at all about Robin in this particular movie (although in the BBC show, Jonas Armstrong was my only reason for watching it) but about Cate Blanchett as Marian :))
ReplyDeleteI think this Robin Hood will be a serious film and it is time we had a mature Robin Hood movie and I know many will disagree with me but I just did not care for Kevin Costner's Robin Hood so I am hoping this flick will be more realistic. I am also hoping they will follow some of the ballad legend and the Nottingham and Yorkshire historical scrolls.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jonas, I agree, it will be hard after watching that series for so long to see anyone else playing Robin and I know (in my opinion) Matthew Macfadyen will not compare to the "missing one tooth" Keith Allen's witty yet sadistic portrayal. It is quite disappointing that BBC did not have creative writers for that series considering they had talented actors. It is hard for an actor to reach their potential with cheesy writers.
I think Cate Blanchett can play Marian quite well. It was amazing how well she played that country psychic in The Gift (I must admit though her southerner accent was quite thick, lol,) then portrayed Elizabeth with excellence. It seems she can easily change roles.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard for me to sometimes watch actors play completely different roles without comparing their new role to one that might have stood out for me. For example when I watched John Adams I could not help but see Paul Giamatti painted blue, half naked with those terribly tight speedos. (Big Fat Liar). lol....However Cate can pull off any role without reminding me of her previous movies.
I think my favorite with her was The Missing. Have you seen this? I loved it! The movie had some of my favorite Native actors too. It is rumored she will play in another western called North of Cheyenne. We have The Curious Case of Benjamin Button here but I have not had time to watch it.
I'm a bit confused. :( Wikipedia says Crow will play Robin, not Sheriff. So which one is it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure myself, anymore, Bels :)) You remember how the project was originally named NOTTINGHAM, and hence the confusion, but I guess Crowe plays Robin at least judging from his costume.
ReplyDeleteAvalon, I must confess I don't care about Kevin and I don't care about Crowe neither :) I just like epics and mrs Blanchett :) And I agree with you about BBC. They often have good sets, costumes, effects, amazing and attractive actors, but they just spoil it all with cheesy stories. ROBIN HOOD and MERLIN are just few of the examples. But you must bare in mind that in Britain they are very careful what kind of programmes they will present to their children and teenagers (who usually watch such shows) and I applaud them for that, because I can't grasp parents who would raise their kids on Tarantino and other irresponsible and immature authors.
