RACHEL MCADAMS AS THE BLACK CAT IN SPIDERMAN?
Today's hottest rumor says that Rachel Mc Adams might be getting a role in "Spider man 4". Apparently she has talked with the movie's producers about playing Felicia Hardy a.k.a. The Black Cat. Nothing is official, so McAdams is only the top contender to play the feline villain, who starts out as a small cat burglar in the comic books and develops an obsession with Spider-Man. The movie will probably have two villains.
On the other side of the ocean, another young actress has put her paw on a role in this film. In one of her interviews Romola Garai has revealed that she too is auditioning for a role in "Spiderman 4", but it could me one of the smaller ones. The movie is supposed to be released in May 2011.
Oh boy, that would be awesome!!! But I won't get my hopes up too much.
ReplyDeleteIs Rachel any good? She's not known outside the USA.
ReplyDeleteShe's one my of favorite actresses. I'll be doing an Answer's Angel post on her in the future, but until then I would recommend watching Red Eye and The Notebook for two great performances by her, she really kills on the emotional roles.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't consider Rachel an unknown actress, not by a long shot. Still, I didn't know about her myself until a couple of years ago. Even though I watched several of her movies. Must be that ever-changing hair colour. :)
ReplyDeleteShe starred in Time Traveler's Wife just recently, and she is a main female role in new Sherlock Holmes. Although I wouldn't expect much of a screen time in Holmes for her. Guy Ritchie's films are notoriously male-orientated. Best he could do is an occasional token female role (only one role, and not even in all of his films). Still, I like his movies, even when I think I wont (not my genre, not my favorite characters or stories etc.)
I'm looking forward to seeing Rachel in Sherlock Holmes. :)
And about Black Cat... I wouldn't call her a villain. She's would be considered anti-hero at worst (diamond thief, but not villain). I wouldn't mind seeing Rachel in that role, but so far I still haven't got any preferences. :)
I guess she didn't make an impression on me, since I did watch RED EYE, but I remember only Cillian Murphy's performance :)
ReplyDeleteWatch The Notebook then, that's one of the only films I've seen that actually makes me teary.
ReplyDeleteMust be that hair color I say! :))) And she's kinda tiny, so you can miss her. :)) I've always found her exceptionally cute, but I've never though all those pretty faces belong to one actress. :) Not until couple of years ago anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe Black Cat is my favorite Spider-man character, the only negative thing I can think about with Rachel in this role is she doesn't have the full bodied figure The Black Cat has.
ReplyDeleteI agree that female super heroes should always be played by actresses with full bodied figures.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I didn't like Jennifer Garner as Electra or Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy.
We need girls looking like Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Megan Fox playing super heroines :) And they need some special inner charisma, they can't be cold like Scarlett or Halle.
I was going to say I can't picture her playing a bad girl...but then Regina George is in that category. But a superhero villian? She needs to convince me...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Nickis :) we need more convincing :)
ReplyDeleteIf only. She would've made me purrrrr. All that's needed is a creative script. How difficult can that be? In Hollywood.... very difficult.
