JUDE LAW AND ROBERT DE NIRO JOINING "THOR"?!?

This is just a hot gossip, but it seems that Kenneth Branagh's "Thor" could finally get some cool actors in its cast. German actor Matthias Schweighofer, who is in the running for one of the roles, has accidentally revealed in an interview for German GQ that Jude Law and Robert De Niro have already joined the cast. The only problem is that nobody knows which roles are reserved for them, but if it's all true, it seems that after a whole line of obscure or not so interesting actors "Thor's" cast might get some real star power.
The guys from "First Showing net" think that De Niro might even play the mighty Odin himself.

  2. I have no doubt that he will, he is the most talented actor in that cast :) and in his generation as well, and it would be interesting seeing him as some Scandinavian god or hero :)

  3. I'm afraid Norse Gods will have a really limited screen time in this movie. At least that's what the script/story writers suggest so far.
And it makes sense. It's far easier to shot in a present time, on a streets of New York, than to shot mythological Asgard with its occupants in "special" costumes.

  4. Agreed, I'm only afraid that many people will be disappointed with this movie having a modern setting instead of a more epic one.

  5. I don't think anyone really expects anything else than modern setting. After all, Thor is a "modern" comic book superhero, and most of his stories take place in "our" world.

And there will always be far more of those who like familiar "stuff", then those who wish something extraordinary or "out of place".

The creators of Thor (movie) first need to work on initial presentation of their character/movie, and building of its fan (movie) base.
They could try to do something more exotic in a possible sequel.
I don't like it either, but that's just the way things are.
