NEW COLIN MORGAN MINI TV SERIES

Arriving to the small screens sometime soon this year is four episode mini TV series THE BOY THAT NEVER WAS based on the Sunday Times best-selling debut novel by the same name by Irish author Karen Perry.

The series will air on Irish RTE

To air on Ireland's national broadcaster it stars Colin Morgan, Toni O’Rourke, Kerr Logan, Simon Callow, and is directed by award-winning director Hannah Quinn (Vikings: Valhalla).

Essaouira, Morocco. A bustling, vibrant, seductive city, now home to struggling artists Harry, Robin and their three-year-old son, Dillon. With little support, adapting to life as new parents in their friend Cosmo’s tiny apartment hasn’t been easy, but despite the sleep deprivation, the couple remain devoted to their little boy. Kelly, who is attacked at an illicit rave on a tidal islet alongside her friend Jessica (Sadie Soverall), an elite gymnastics teammate who seemingly has it all. Vinette Robinson stars as Jessica’s controlling and toxic mother Natalie and Warren Brown is Kelly’s hard working father Paul who struggles with his own impulse control. Richard Coyle stars as successful solicitor Jules, Sonny Walker as Adam, Ryan Quarmby as Charlie and newcomer Luca Kamleh-Chapman as Bazi. It is a whodunit – or, in this case – a whydunit, focusing on a group of disparate teenagers and their parents, each character  has a motive for attacking Kelly. An accomplished gymnast, on the National Team pathway, Kelly is committed to her strict training schedule but finds freedom and liberation in the joyous, unregulated world of free running. Each episode privileges a different character’s lens to give insight into the respective worlds of these teenagers and their families and allows the viewer to speculate who committed the crime. A series that leans into the controversial and the provocative, it examines the intertwined sex lives, loyalties and rivalries of a group of teens. And asks how they can negotiate their sense of identity and freedom in the face of surveillance parenting.

After being sold in more than ten million copies around the world, Richard Osman's book series THURSDAY MURDER CLUB is being adapted into a movie to be directed by Chris Columbus and now rumour has it that Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley will lead the cast as three of the  four septuagenarian friends who live in a retirement community and solve cold cases for fun. When a shady property developer is found dead, the four find themselves in the middle of their first live crime. Variety reports that 14 studios fought for the movie rights on this one.

It will open Monte Carlo Television Festival this June, but Kevin Costner has released first image from his six episode historical series THE GRAY HOUSE that tells the hidden-history tale of four Southern women — a Virginia socialite and her mother, a formerly enslaved Black woman and a high-end prostitute — who served as key espionage agents for the Union. The foursome are credited as unsung heroes who helped end the nation’s brutal cleavage in 1865. Mary-Louise Parker, Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head and Ben Vereen lead the cast. Costner and Morgan Freeman are producing.

Beside the announcement that he is expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Henry Cavill has another reason to celebrate this spring as Guy Ritchie directed  movie adaptation of Damien Lewis book MINISTRY OF UNGENTLE- MANLY WARFARE is hitting theatres this weekend from Friday April 19th and beside Cavill in the lead it has an extremely hunky cast which also includes  Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding, Allan Ritchson, Cary Elwes, Til Schweigeran and Hero Fiennes Tiffin! It is pretty much the same story we have seen in BBC series SAS Rogue Heroes but this time told for the big screens.

I almost forgot that this one was in the making, but Netflix has sent us the first teaser for TV series adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE which will arrive sometime this year with sixteen episodes following the Buendía family and the founding of the mythical town of Macondo.

Beside Amadeus series and Ravel movie, we are now getting a biopic on VIVALDI as well to be helmed by John Ottman, Bohemian Rhapsody Oscar winning editor according to Variety. Much of Vivaldi’s work was mysteriously lost for over 200 years, only to be rediscovered during World War I. Today, Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” is one of the most recognizable, recorded and performed classical composition in the world. Vivaldi joined the priesthood in the early 18th century to be commissioned to write music, much to chagrin of his jealous rival and church hierarchy. His first assignment was that of music director of an all-female orphanage orchestra where he developed a secret affair with a teacher. The film will tell his story of forbidden love, deceit and the transformative power of music.
