THE SUMMER BOOK
MAGICAL TRAILER WITH GLENN CLOSE
Trailer has been released for Charlie McDowell's movie adaptation of beloved Finnish classic book THE SUMMER BOOK by Tove Jannson. Released
50 years ago, it follows nine-year-old Sophia (Emily Matthews) who spends the summers at her family’s seasonal home on a tranquil isle in the Gulf of Finland, but this will be the first summer without her mother. Her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) remains numbed by grief, while her grandmother (Glenn Close) guides her on a giddy, winding path towards young adulthood. With a sense of infinite possibility and a tender regard for the wonders of the natural world, Sophia and her grandmother explore the terrain, celebrate midsommar, and test the limits of faith in the face of life’s many storms. It is out September 19th in select theatres in North America.

Un romanzo leggero e avvolgente che cattura la magia sospesa e malinconica delle estati dell’infanzia.

DeleteGood grandmothers are worth their weight in gold. Mine stepped up when she had to and made sure we were taken care of, though she was one who only made time for the downtrodden. Once I became a self sufficient adult, the less she reached out. She barely knew my kids, but she was always chasing after my sister's because "they need all the help they can get and I know yours are taken care of."
ReplyDeleteWell, she probably felt some kind of guilt, because your sister is the daughter of her daughter, I imagine your mother did not have the perfect childhood either.
