You gotta admit we haven't seen a prime time animated mini TV series in a long time and that is what Netflix and BBC are preparing for us: a new four episode animated version of WATERSHIP DOWN with the voices from James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley, John Boyega and Gemma Arterton.

Based on Richard Adams' classic novel WATERSHIP DOWN is set in the idyllic rural landscape of southern England, and follows a band of rabbits on their flight from the intrusion of man and the certain destruction of their home. Led by a stout hearted pair of brothers, they journey forth from their native Sandleford Warren through the harrowing trials posed by predators and adversaries, towards a promised land and a more perfect society. Directed by Stephen Frears (THE QUEEN, PHILOMENA) this true life story follows FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS, a wealthy woman from the beginning of the 20th century New York high society who used her relationships and her fortune to become an opera singer. But the problem was that she had the worst voice ever. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Hugh Grant plays St Clair Bayfield, an aristocratic English actor and  her trusted manager and best friend who was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth, and Rebecca Ferguson is his long suffering wife. BING BANG THEORY's Simon Helberg is Florence's pianist. The movie tells her story through to her 1944 Carnegie Hall concert which sold some 3,000 tickets, but she died a month later. Jenkins handled distribution of the popular tickets herself, in order to exclude professional critics from attending her performances. She also designed all of her wonderfully campy and gorgeously outrageous costumes!

We're going fully British today, my spylovers, because I know you like it when we do so, and Dezzy is always here to please! It seems that British Sky Channel is planning on joining ITV, BBC and Channel 4 in the circle of best stations at the isle, at least judging by the latest info on the projects they ordered for production! They did gather some really interesting names for them, and probably the biggest one will be JAMESTOWN! Sky and Carnival Films (creators of Downton Abbey) are making this eight part historical drama about the first British settlers embarking on their lives in America. And, my oh my, did they gather a stellar cast which will include some of Britain's beloved TV faces including Matt Stokoe (oh, how we fell in sweet love with him in BBC's VILLAGE!), Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Dean Lennox Kelly, Stuart Martin, Steven Waddington with the spirited ladies landing on shore with them played by Naomi Battrick, Sophie Rundle and gorgeous Niamh Walsh.

THE FIRST SETTLERS

The story begins in 1619, with the settlers seeking to establish a community in America. Among those reaching the shores of the New World are a group of women destined to be married to Jamestown men and becoming  the female pioneers of an exciting new western outpost.

THE LAST DRAGON SLAYER

Meanwhile, Sky is, as I informed you before, also preparing a TV movie, a small screen adaptation of Jasper Fforde's popular epic adventure THE LAST DRAGON SLAYER and they've set a cast for it to be lead by Ellise Chappell as orphan Jennifer Strange who discovers that her destiny is to become the last Dragonslayer. Ricky Tomlinson and GAME OF THRONES John Bradley will also star in the movie set to air in the festive season.

It's a very boring Saturday, people, and the only thing the spy has to show you is the first trailer and also first posters for Gus Van Sant's new drama movie THE SEA OF TREES starring Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts. The movie is opening this week around Europe after it got booed at Cannes Film Festival.

SUICIDE FOREST
Arthur Brennan (Matthew McConaughey) treks into Aokigahara, known as THE SEA OF TREES, a mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan's Mount Fuji where people go to commit suicide (it really exists with an average of three suicides a week). On his journey to the suicide forest, he encounters Takumi Nakamura (Ken Watanabe), a Japanese man who has lost his way after attempting suicide. The two men begin a journey of reflection and survival, which affirms Arthur's will to live and reconnects him to his love for his wife (Naomi Watts).

To premiere globally on Netflix next year OKJA will see Lily Collins, WALKING DEAD's Steven Yeun, Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Devon Bostick, Byun Heebong and Yoon Je Moon starring in a story which follows Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja. TO WALK INVISIBLE will circle around the whole Brontë family. Jonathan Pryce will play family patriarch Rev. Patrick Brontë. WAR AND PEACE Chloe Pirrie will be Emily Brontë, the author of glorious Wuthering Heights while her sister Charlotte, who wrote Jane Eyre, will be played by Finn Atkins. LAST KINGDOM and VILLAGE's Charlie Murphy will be their youngest sister Anne, who wrote Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. In other TV news, 'Deadline' reports that Mexican Televisa is venturing into English language series with an apocalyptic one. They will turn Scott Shepherd's sf novel THE SEVENTH DAY into a ten episode series. 

Set seven years after the Strangers decimated the planet it follows Joad – who is half way around the world and one of the few left unharmed when most of humanity is obliterated – on his dangerous trek home to Nemo in the hope his wife waits for him. The journey with companions he reluctantly gains along the way takes them through a landscape equally beautiful and haunting, mysterious and magical.

Here's a new sf show for us: as 'Deadline' reports Netflix has teamed up with Canadian Showcase on TRAVELERS series set hundreds of years from now when the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century.

These TRAVELERS assume the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future. As 'Deadline' reports, adapted from the novel by JM Ledgard, the film follows the interconnected stories of James (James McAvoy), an Englishman held captive by jihadist fighters, and Danny (Alicia Vikander), a marine researcher studying the ocean floor near Greenland, as their thoughts are drawn back to the previous Christmas and the chance encounter that led to their romance!

Deadline also reports on a topic we like - thrillers set in isolated spaces! Albert Hughes is planning to take the helm and direct ice age epic adventure THE SOLUTREAN which is supposed to star Leonor Varela,  Jóhannes Haukur Johannesson and Kodi Smit McPhee! It will be a visually striking epic adventure survival story set 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age. The word “Solutrean” refers to the Upper Paleolithic period of early advanced humans in Europe. Leonor Varela (Cleopatra from ROME) will play the shaman; described as wise, powerful and compelling, she performs religious rituals of protection, healing and thanksgiving!

Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem and fresh STAR WARS star Domhnall Gleeson will lead the cast in the movie which reportedly follows what happens when a couple's tranquil relationship is disturbed by uninvited guests who arrive at their home. Aronofsky has written the script himself and is looking to put this stellar cast to work as soon as this June!

Set during the Cold War,  the $20 million movie follows a Secret organization named "Patriot" which gathered a group of Russian superheroes in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats. It includes representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, which each one of them have long been hiding their true identity! 

THE WILDMAN
Russian star Anton Pampushniy will play Arsus, Wildman, a form of berserker or werebear, who has the ability to transform himself into a bear, though he can control how much of his body is transformed and can transform partially if he wills it. Superstrong, loyal and determined, he "breaks the enemy into small pieces".

THE WINDMAN

Russian star Sanzhar Madiev plays Khan the Windman. Masterfully skilled with all kinds of knives, and specialized with many kinds of martial arts. He is primarily armed with twin, crescent blades with the efficiency to cut clean through thick fabric, as well as human tissue and bone, without any difficulty, often allowing him to kill instantly with one swing of his weapon. 

THE LANDMAN
Playing Ler or Landman is Sebastian Sisak Grigoryan. He is armed with all forms of earth manipulation abilities, such as seismokinesis, terrakinesis and geokinesis, which make him a form of earth bender. He is able to control stones and soil, collect dust from boulders, stop falling rocks, and move mountains.

THE WATERWOMAN

 Xenia Waterwoman is played by Alina Lanina. Flexible and agile, she has the ability to move on water as if it is like solid ground, as well as seamlessly move through it. This gives her higher mobility in water than the fastest, or most manoeuvrable sea creature. She cannot feel temperature differences, but can survive in any vacuum, even without oxygen, which allows her to survive underwater without any negative effects.

Out this August and starring Robert Redford (as an old wood carver who delights local kids with dragon stories), Karl Urban and Bryce Dallas Howard (As a forest ranger) it follows a boy who lives in the woods with his fury, soft domesticated dragon after escaping from his abusive adoptive parents. The dragon has been changed from the original one from the old classic in order to get a more natural look which goes well with the forest surroundings. Wes Bentley (as owner of the local plant), Oona Laurence (as his daughter) and young Oakes Fegley (As Pete) also star.
