More news coming on the movie sales that can be expected over at Cannes! Lovely Mackenzie Foy, who played the lead role last winter in Nutcracker and the Four Realms, will lead another family adventure. She will star in BLACK BEAUTY for which Kate Winslet will lend her voice. To be directed by Ashley Avis, who also wrote the script, it is a story based on Anna Sewell’s best selling novel about the deep and enduring bond between a 17 year old girl and the wild horse who helps her overcome the trauma of her loss following her parents’ death. Foy will play Jo while Winslet will lend her voice to Beauty as Variety reports today.

Emilia Clarke will lead 19th century drama
SET BIOPIC DRAMA
Screen Daily, meanwhile, reports that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke will lead new period set movie LET ME COUNT THE WAYS Bjorn Runge's (he did Glenn Close's Wife last year) movie on poet Elizabeth Barret. Set in the mid 19th century, the film will follow the courtship of poets Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning. After gaining worldwide fame for her poetry, Barrett, fragile and weakened by a mysterious illness, lives as a virtual recluse in London. When the youthful Browning brings renewed sensuality and passion to her life, her widowed father Edward fights to keep his control over her. The title comes from her poem How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways.

  1. Two classics: Black Beauty is a children's classic told by a horse, and Let Me Count the Ways is a classic love story between the two poets: Elizabeth Barret and Robert Browning. Both are based on a real written biographical story.
Good, interesting stuff for the movie lovers!

    1. I did not know at first that Black Beauty was told by a horse! And I thought Faulkner's points of view were crazy :)

  2. Hopefully we'll like Claire in Black Beauty more than in The Nutcracker. That movie was a total snoozefest!

    1. It was, but she was nice in it. And you mistaken her with awful Claire Foy :) which happens a lot... this one is Mackenzie. Nutcracker was probably good in Lasse Halstrom directorial version, but then Disney brought Joe Johnston to ad the bombastic scenes and ruin it all.

  3. They do look alike. I was so hopeful on the nutcracker being good. I’m glad I didn’t waste money at the theater on it. I might wait on Blsck Beauty to hit dvd before giving it a go. Even though I love Winslet, it’s probably one I won’t be able to sweet talk the girls into seeing with me.

    1. Yes, especially as it is contemporary, not period set.

  4. Emilia Clarke... What is happening to Game of Thrones? That's what I'd like to know.
