  2. I'm surprised. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm a relatively recent reader of your blog and knew nothing about your annual list of top songs..
You write about movies , and all of a sudden you come in with a list of 35 songs asking us to choose and classify! I suppose these songs are for the younger readers of your blog.

Anyway, from listening to the songs on your post , I'll give nr.1 to Alexandra Burke, nr.2 to Dan Balan, and nr.3 to the gypsy-french singer Kendji Girac. That's all you'll get from me. And, again, A Happy New Year to you!

    1. Yes, we've had this list for almost a decade, it is very popular around the world, we get hits from all over the continent. Music videos air on television as well, so that could be an explanation for the chart ;)
We do adore both Dan and Kendji! What was the biggest hit in Israel this year? We had your singer Imrie last year on our chart, by the way!

  3. You mean Imri Ziv? This year's top singer is,I think, Omri (Omer Adam), but I'm really not the best person to know about the last hits. I belong to another generation.

    1. I know :)
Imri that represented Israel at Eurosong in 2017!
I've just checked out Omer Adam, he sounds like a Greek singer in most of his songs :)

  7. You are the reason will probably always top out on my list of favorites.

You are right about Be Alright. I sing along to it on the radio but never paid attention to who sang it. Just added it to my playlist.

The girls think it's hilarious that Jason loves Shawn Mendes as he tends to only appeal to teen girls here. Jason don't care though, he'll blast any of his songs whenever they come on the radio.

    1. I'd personally like to marry Calum if he reads this he should email me :)
Be Alright is such a lovely song which never ceases to bring me up and make me sing along. It is one of those songs that I yearn to hear someone singing on The Voice (UK one starts this weekend).

Shawn is so special and unique because he writes his own songs unlike other teen stars that just buy them. And all of his songs have something catchy in them, I'd say he has a really good producer. I'm not happy with his recent two singles, though. I also usually like most of the songs from Charlie Puth.

    2. I haven't been impressed with his last two singles either. Charlie is hit or miss with me. He has some catchy tunes, but some of them I flat out just don't like.

I see you have started watching The Masked Singer. While it's not on my list of shows to catch up on, I may have to tune in to keep me occupied on my workout sessions.

    3. I liked Charlie's L.U.V. which is one of his very first singles back from before he was famous, it was even our number two on the yearly chart some ten years ago. He erased that video from You Tube later when he became a household name. I love Attention and We Don't Talk Anymore and a few others. But I cannot stand most of currently popular female singers (especially the American and Albanian ones, they're all talentless) and I cannot for the life of me understand Bruno Mars' success. American scene is very weird these days, I see some rappers, both male and female, getting all awards and I don't even know who they are nor do I care much :) It is beyond ridiculous that the likes of Beyonce, Cardi B, Taylor... can call themselves Grammy winners standing next to Celine Dion, Lady Gaga or Tina Turner....

    4. I hear ya. I think it's sad that we don't have talent like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, or hell, I'll even throw in 90's Mariah Carey to the mix. It seems that whatever talent-less hack can get the media talking about her (or him), that's who the zombies tend to idolize these days. Though I do admit, I will always rock out to Bruno Mar's Uptown Funk.

    5. do you remember the moment when both Mariah Carey and Mariah McKee appeared on the scene the very same year? I've never understood how Carey became the star with that idiotic song of hers while McKee did not with the legendary Show Me Heaven and that voice of hers! We have a pop singer Marija Serifovic here, she's like a lesbian hobbit with thunder voice and ugly temper :) Come to think of it, she's like a singing Tasmanian Devil.

    6. I do not remember both Mariah's singing around the same time, but Carey shot to stardom because of her marriage to that music mogul. One that has always baffled me is how the hell Britney Spears shot to superstar fame when we all know she can't sing her way out of a paper bag, and Christina Aguilerra has an amazing and powerful voice but had to take the back seat to Britney's fame. I guess it's all about who you know that can get you the most press coverage.

A singing Tasmanian Devil sounds like a riot lol

    7. yes, Tommy Motola.
Britney probably had a momager :) And she did, sadly, sing with Justin in that Disney Club or whatever it was. I cannot stand Christina's singing either :) That's cat being skinned alive, not singing LOL

    8. I do like Christina's voice, I just think she has a knack for picking the worst songs to showcase it. I like that song she did for Mulan though. Can't think of the name of it, but it's a slower one.

    9. haven't heard that one! I don't remember any songs from Mulan, although I do know many people like music in it.
