'THE SEA OF TREES' OFFICIAL TRAILER WITH MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY, NAOMI WATTS, KEN WATANABE! 'AMAZONS' TV SERIES OF FAMOUS AFRICAN FEMALE WARRIORS

'AMAZONS' EPIC SERIES
ON AFRICAN FEMALE WARRIORS
How about something unusually epic to start your new working week this Monday? As 'Deadline' reports NCIS producer Charles F. Johnson is preparing AMAZONS, a live action television series about famous African female warriors!
The series will tell the story of AMAZONS, an army of 6,000 female soldiers who fiercely fought against the French Colonial army and other enemies of the Dahomey Kingdom. The kingdom was the last non colonized West African empire which existed from 1600-1894 and was unique in that men and women had societal parity and shared ruling authority over the government.

'THE SEA OF TREES' TRAILER
WITH MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY, KEN WATANABE, NAOMI WATTS
It's a very boring Monday, people, and the only thing the spy has to show you is the first official trailer for Gus Van Sant's new drama movie THE SEA OF TREES starring Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts. The movie has already opened around Europe after it got booed at Cannes Film Festival.

SUICIDE FOREST
Arthur Brennan (Matthew McConaughey) treks into Aokigahara, known as THE SEA OF TREES, a mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan's Mount Fuji where people go to commit suicide (it really exists with an average of three suicides a week). On his journey to the suicide forest, he encounters Takumi Nakamura (Ken Watanabe), a Japanese man who has  lost his way after attempting suicide. The two men begin a journey of reflection and survival, which affirms Arthur's will to live and reconnects him to his love for his wife (Naomi Watts).

  2. Please tell me that Amazon illustration does NOT represent how the women warriors will be depicted in the TV series.

  3. I'm not sure about THE SEA OF TREES. It looks like it could be a really sad tale.

  4. OK now I'm really concerned because my Pilates instructor seriously just went to Japan to climb Mount Fuji. I have never heard about the suicides.

    1. it was, a lot of films get booed at festivals, and often it happens that the critics and viewers will stand up in the middle of the film and leave the cinema if it is that bad :)

  9. I can see subscriptions to Amazon Prime going up with that new show. Men will flock to it if the ladies are sexy.

I'm not sure why they chose McConaughey for that role. If he has depth as an actor, I've never seen it. Without him in it, I'd watch it. I saw a documentary on that forest and it was so sad. The Japanese people put so much pressure on themselves.

    1. I reckon ladies won't be sexy, more butch and manly, they were warriors after all :)

Yes, I had a lesson on Japanese students and how incredibly hard they have to work, which I liked to use at my classes with my students. It is a merciless system, but they are also a nation of great honour and pride

    2. The Spawn has been interested in their culture and music since she was little. We love their animated films. I would love to visit there one day, but I would need a translator.

    3. Yes, for sure, I think I'd be lost there, but I'd enjoy their shops, because they have the craziest offer of everything :)

  12. I can see why it got booed. The summary sounded so boring I didn't bother looking at the trailer. Good luck and I feel bad for Nicole Kidman being a part of this. Matt at least has Dark Tower to look forward to maybe being good. That Amazon series has my attention.

    1. or it is possible it got booed because Naomi and Matthew are overrated actors who usually have no idea how to relate emotions :)
