'MAGIC MIKE XXL' TRAILER WITH CHANNING TATUM, MATT BOMER, JOE MANGANIELLO! JASON MOMOA JOINS CHRIS PRATT, ETHAN HAWKE IN 'MAGNIFICENT SEVEN' REMAKE! 'INFINITE HORIZON' & 'BRAVE NEW WORLD' SF NOVELS GET ADAPTED

'MAGNIFICENT SEVEN' REMAKE
JASON MOMOA JOINS CHRIS PRATT AND ETHAN HAWKE
Deadline reports today that the latest actors to join the remake of MAGNIFICENT SEVEN are Aquaman Jason Momoa and Byung-hun Lee. They will join Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Haley Bennett, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Luke Grimes in the story about a young woman (Haley Bennett), who hires seven gunslingers to protect her small town from a group of treacherous bandits. Antoine Fuqua is directing the remake of the legendary Western which was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI.

NEW SF MOVIE ADAPTATIONS
'INFINITE HORIZON' NOVEL
When it comes to movie adaptations, 'Variety' reports that Warner Bros. and Greg Berlanti will adapt INFINITE HORIZON graphic novel from Gerry Duggan into a movie. Based on THE ODYSSEY  the story follows a soldier with no name, who ends up stranded on the other side of the world after a massive war that spanned several years finally comes to an end. The unnamed soldier embarks on his journey home, where he encounters shipwrecks and enemies such as the massive Cyclops and the seductive Sirens.
'BRAVE NEW WORLD' AT SYFY
Meanwhile, SyFy plans to adapt Aldous Huxley's sf classic BRAVE NEW WORLD into TV series. The book is set in a world without poverty, war or disease. In this world, humans are given mind altering drugs, free sex and rampant consumerism are the order of the day and people no longer reproduce but are genetically engineered in “hatcheries”. Those who won’t conform are forced onto “reservations” – until one of these “savages” challenges the system, threatening the entire social order.

'MAGIC MIKE XXL' TRAILER
 HUNKS ARE ON THE LOOSE!
Now, since it's a hump day, why not make it a hunk day with the new trailer for Channing Tatum's MAGIC MIKE II which is out this July also starring Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks! Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, MAGIC MIKE XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

  1. Well... I couldn't even focus on the text in this post. All I could look at was the abs!

  2. Don't mind me Dezmond. I'll just be hanging out in the corner, with my thumb in my mouth. Won't be taking up much room.

I'm pretty sure that music is from ZZ Top - I'll repaly the trailer a few times to verify.

  4. Brave New World could be a tough one to pull off. The readership is quite possessive of that one. But new audiences that don't know the book won't now if it's not spot on.

Magnificent Seven could be a touchy one as well. But only with us older folk who remember it from when we were young. That said it didn't come close to Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. I appreciated the homage to a master, but it lacked the artistic integrity of Seven Samurai.

Oh, guess what I learned about my house? It was orignally built for the first florists to live in this town. The woodwork and wrought iron all has floral patterns in it and my contractor said that was done to reflect the trade of the person living in it. Also he looked it up in the records. The house belonged to the original family who now owns the nursery where I buy my plants. Also, my contractor's great grandfather was an O'Leary who came to New York in the 1800's. He was killed during a gang war with Italian immigrants. That was on his mothers side. On his fathers side he's a Murphy. So both his ancestors were Irish. He, The Hubby and I get on famously.

    1. Yes, the only sad thing being that SyFy has ruined pretty much everything they've adapted :)

This new SEVEN will be mostly for teens, methinks, the ones that like to jerk to violence on film... you know the type..

Oh, dear, I really must insist that you make a photo of the house one time and send it to us :)
Another O'Leary? Could it be destiny that brought you there? :) I just wish you lived somewhere more urban where you wouldn't be surrounded by ignorant racists....

    2. Holy Christ, the last thing the world needs is more violence being spoon fed to the youth. Do the teens in Serbia like this kind of thing? I know the youth in England do and many in Ireland are getting that way, particularly in Dublin.

    3. it's a worldwide thing because most of the world is fed by USA when it comes to entertainment, you know, we all eat shit they serve us. What I find increasingly more and more difficult is explaining to these kids why enjoying torture porn such as GAME OF THRONES etc is dangerous. The saddest is when our nations, such as Serbian and Irish, start enjoying that violence fed to us by US channels even though we've so often been the direct victims of the real one....

    4. Back home the kids have also gotten into that horrid rap music which is all about violence, cop killing and slapping women around. Now Irish people are EXTREMELY white,. We're so white we're almost transparent. They walk around with their britches down around their bums, wear bling bling and those silly oversized ballcaps. Irish people just can't pull off ghetto. Jaysus you should hear kids talking all "thug" with an Irish accent. It' would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Also the horrid hipster culture has finally invaded us. It started in Northern Ireland first and then spread like a virus through the Republic. How I detest hipsters.

    5. It's sad, stealing other people's degrading culture instead of being proud of their own... and Irish is so beautiful .....
My own country is ruled by those new hippy gay superficial journalists who rave about Crapdashians and similar celebrity pigs.... It's all you see in papers and TV.... which is why I haven't fixed my TV ....I haven't had a TV in almost a month now, dear....

    6. I thought I'd missed tv when I decided to get rid of ours. But I didn't and that surprised me. It left me more time to read, to paint and to have conversation. Now if there were loads of decent programmes and not so much shite I'd go back. But we know that's not going to happen.

    7. mine emits strange sounds so I'm afraid to turn it on anymore afraid it might explode... and since I don't have much money I was thinking whether to buy a new one and eat even less than I do now... or just try to live without it and see how that goes.... not that I watch it much as it is.... and since I'm overloaded with work currently I really don't miss it much... except on Sundays which was my break day.... and in the mornings... now I have to drink my morning tea in silence... so I only miss some sound in my life right now.... since my job is silent and now I don't have TV in the evening either..... but it gave me time to finish some series on Torrents in the evenings... but I only have an hour or two in the evenings free anyway..... I might try to call somebody to see if they can fix the old TV just to have something to watch for ten minutes in the mornings... othervise I might forget what the sound of people's voices is :)

  7. I hope they do Seven well. I'm always nervous when they make new films of some of the great ones. I've often been left wondering, "Do you even pay attention to the source material?"

  13. I have all four movies of the Magnificent Seven, but the first one stays the best. Nothing can beat that in my opinion. I will watch the remake just to do some comparison.
