NEW FOREIGN MOVIES: 'INFINI' SF ACTION WITH LUKE HEMSWORTH, DANIEL MACPHERSON, 'THE DEAD LANDS' EPIC THRILLER, 'BHOPAL' DISASTER FILM WITH MARTIN SHEEN, CANADA PICKS 'MOMMY' FOR OSCARS

'INFINI' SF MOVIE
IN THE DARK CORNERS OF SPACE
First I want to thank you, people, for helping us cross the number of 3,800,000 visitors today! I will reward you by spotlighting some of the great new foreign films today, starting with atmospheric Australian science fiction movie INFINI starring Daniel Macpherson, Grace Huang, Luke Hemsworth, Dwaine Stevenson, Harry Pavlidis, Kevin Copeland, Louisa Mignone, Tess Haubrich with Bren Foster and Luke Ford. The story focuses on a search and rescue team sent into a deep space mine to retrieve a stranded soldier.

EPIC 'THE DEAD LANDS'
THE BIRTH OF WARRIOR SPIRIT
Another intense movie will come to us from the nearby New Zealand. THE DEAD LANDS, which will have US distribution too, stars James Rolleston as a Maori chieftain’s teenage son who must avenge his father’s murder in order to bring peace and honour to the souls of his loved ones after his tribe is slaughtered through an act of treachery. Vastly outnumbered by the band of villains, Hongi’s only hope is to pass through the feared and forbidden DEAD LANDS and forge an uneasy alliance with the mysterious “Warrior,” a ruthless fighter who has ruled the area for years.

'BHOPAL' TRAILER
A PRAYER FOR RAIN
And yet another movie which has just been sold for US cinemas is India's epic drama BHOPAL starring Martin Sheen with the story describing the devastating 1984 Bhopal tragedy in India. More than 10,000 people died in what’s known as the world’s biggest industrial disaster when the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant overheated and released poisonous toxins into the air. Kal Penn and Mischa Barton also star in the story about those living in BHOPAL  through the tragedy and its unresolved aftermath. The film will be shown at the United Nations to mark the three decades of the disaster and will hit American cinemas November 7th!

PRIZE WINNING 'MOMMY' TO
REPRESENT CANADA AT OSCARS
Meanwhile, Canada has chosen award winning drama MOMMY to represent them in the foreign film race at next year's Oscars. Young Xavier Dolan has won Jury Prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival directing the movie which stars Anne Dorval, Antoine Olivier Pilon and Suzanne Clément. The story is set in a fictional Canada, where a new law allows distressed parents to abandon troubled children to the hospital system. A widowed single mother decides to raise her violent son alone, finding new hope when a mysterious neighbour inserts herself into their household.

  1. Funny how they consider it a foreign film. A lot of american films and shows are often shot in Canada.

  3. 10,000 people died... That's horrible. The strange thing is, I don't remember hearing this on the news back then.

    1. yep, I've never heard of it before either.. but in the experience of my own country I know that human lives have little worth in the world... my country for example lost about 2 million people in WWs out of about 4 million citizens in total, which is half a country... and nobody in the world knows it... nor respects it.... During the fall of ex Yugoslavia we accepted more than 100,000 refuges and nobody knows it either.... The numbers matter only if you are a western country controlling the media.... Which got more presence in the media - two thousand people dead in World Trade centre or dozens of millions of innocent people that US soldiers killed around the world....
