SPOTLIGHT AND NEW CHARACTER PICTURES FROM LIFETIME'S NEW SF SHOW 'THE LOTTERY' WITH MARLEY SHELTON, MARTIN DONOVAN, MICHAEL GRAZIADEI, SHELLEY CONN, DAVID ALPAY

THE LOTTERY
LIFETIME'S NEW SF SERIES
I have another new show coming to the small screens this summer to present to you! Over at Lifetime THE LOTTERY will start airing next week, July 20th. It will be a supernatural sf drama taking us into not so far away future - into 2025! This new drama is written by CHILDREN OF MEN's Timothy J. Sexton who also serves as executive producer alongside Rick Eid (HOSTAGES) and Dawn Olmstead (PRISON BREAK).

THE STORY OF LOTTERY
WHO WILL WIN AN EMBRYO?
Set within a dystopian future driven by a global fertility crisis, Lifetime's new television series THE LOTTERY reveals a world staring down the barrel of impending extinction as women have mysteriously stopped bearing children. After years of research, Dr. Alison Lennon (Marley Shelton) and her team remarkably fertilize 100 embryos. However, her victory is short-lived when the Director of the U.S. Fertility Commission, Darius Hayes (HOMELAND's Martin Donovan), takes government control of the lab and informs the President (MAGIC CITY'S Yul Vasquez) of the monumental scientific breakthrough. To determine which women will carry the prized embryos to term, Chief of Staff Vanessa Keller (Athena Karkanis) convinces the President to hold a national wide lottery and that is the moment when a battle over the control of the remaining 100 embryos begins.

THE LOTTERY CAST
DAVID ALPAY AND SHELLEY CONN
The cast also includes AMERICAN HORROR STORY's Michael Graziadei who stars as Kyle, a recovering alcoholic and single father of one of the last children born in the country, while THE TUDOR's and VAMPIRE DIARIES' David Alpay stars as James, Alison’s colleague and lab assistant. TERRA NOVA's Shelley Conn portrays Gabrielle, the First Lady of the United States.

  1. Could be good. It sounds a lot like a book I read called Greybeard in which the same thing happens. No babies. Tons of people over 50 and getting older by the day.

    1. though it will soon be 2015 and there's no flying cars like in Back to the Future II

    2. Yep, some of those old movies were too ambitious in their prediction of the future....

  3. If humans were to lose the ability to reproduce it would be due to our own stupidity. The list of our attempts at self annihilation is a long one. Genetically modified food, steroids in meat, processed food, medications with sterility as a side-effect etc., etc. And let's not forget nuclear weapons and chemical weapons. Bacteria would never make a mistake like this. Viva la Bacteria!

    1. 'tis true, dear, maybe a selfanihilation wouldn't be such a bad thing.... at least a selective one :)))

  4. Literary agents are saying publishers are no longer buying dystopian novels because the market is way oversaturated, but it looks like it will be a while before TV and movies get the memo! You may be in for a couple more years of dystopian everything--and most of the stories I've read so far are just ripoffs of either Hunger Games or Divergent.

    1. well, those dystopian stories haven't really crossed over to the big and small screens in the amount they're present in US books. I wish your writers would stop writing in that, usually cheap, genre and start writing positive, uplifting, heartwarming, inspiring books and that YA would stop being primary focus

  6. Sometimes I wonder if it would be so bad if some people just stopped reproducing. I see so many trashy, no morals people on a daily basis. People who think it's great to video a crime instead of trying to prevent it, all for likes online, the torture of animals for our entertainment, airheads making millions for doing nothing while so many can't afford basic necessities. It really makes me question the human race, and if it would be so bad if we all just went "poof". (Don't mind me, I'm in one of my moods today).

    1. I support the poof movement :) And I also support the idea of giving parenting licenses without which it would be forbidden to have babies :)

    2. I totally agree. So, here's my way of curbing some of the overpopulation. Mandatory vasectomies for any man that goes to prison. No deadbeat thug of a dad impregnating 10 different women when he gets out, and maybe crime rate will drop, because really, what man wants his jewels chopped? He may think twice before committing that crime lol.

I guess we could do the same for the women too. Go to jail/prison, have those baby making parts removed.

I should run for president and have this passed asap lol.

    3. Wait? You would punish only the men? Why are women who sleep with idiots any better than the idiots themselves? That is why in our benevolent dictatorship we would issue parenting and sex licenses only to about 1% of sane part of the population :)

    4. I changed it and said we would do the women too ;) I just sit back around here and see so many nasty men knocking up multiple women. My cousin has a son who's dad has babies by 4 different women. My niece has a son who's dad also has 4 other siblings (all different mamas). I guess I figure it takes 9 months for a lady to pop out a kid. In those 9 months, that man could have the whole town full of women pregnant. Gross lol.

I agree. Parenting and sex licenses for only the sane, non nasty folk hahaha!

  7. It looks interesting, but so many shows coming out right now kind of... how can I put it nicely...are subpar. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
